A Website for Everyone

When I first discovered the wonderful world of blogging, I often came across recipe posts that linked to a website called Fat Free Vegan. Initially, I didn’t check the website out; I definitely don’t need to lose any weight, so I figured I’d have no interest in a diet-recipe website. But as I continued to see more and more delicious-looking blog posts giving credit to this fatfreevegankitchen website, my curiosity grew. Finally, I decided to explore the site myself. Wow, am I ever glad I did! The website boasts a treasure trove of vegan recipes for all occasions, and each recipe comes with a picture (a great addition for us visual people).

Everything I’ve tried so far has turned out magnificently– Vindaloo Vegetables, Mini Tofu Quiches, Goddess Dressing, Rainbow Stir Fry, and now, one more: Black-eyed Pea Gumbo, which made for a delicious dinner last night. And you can add fat if needed. (For example, I use oil for frying as opposed to the water or broth she suggests.)
And there are so many more recipes I still need to try! Fat-free or not, this website is great!

One of my absolute favorite recipe websites. Fat free or not, everything is delicious, and if you want, you can always add oil or any fat if you want. I’m always anxious to see what new recipes are awaiting to be made!

Looks like you’ve discovered a great site! I’ve been on it a couple of times, but not recently so I’m gonna make my way over there right now…

When you finally make it to L.A., you’d better plan to stay for 2 or 3 weeks so I can take you to all the great vegan restaurants! It’ll take at least that long. 😉

I love love love this site. It seems like every single recipe is delicious. And you can’t help but notice that Susan really knows her cooking.
Great to hear that you discovered it for yourself!
    And it’s not like you can’t de-fat free-anize(yeah, I like inventing words) it! =)

That IS a great site! I don’t think I’ve actually ever made anything from there, but I always drool over the recipes… I think you’ve inspired me to actually make something now, though.

FFV is almost world famous. I think they won the best food blog (among all blogs) last year in the bloggers’ choice awards.

Ooh, delicious! Look at all those veggies! I still haven’t tried black-eyed peas yet, though… And I do need to try more of Susan’s recipes (especially the Mini Quiches!), although I did find my favorite French toast recipe from the collection of other people’s recipes on her site.

Wow wow thank you so much *blushes* Well I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I did =)

I just posted what I’ve done today. If only it wasn’t Sunday(the stores are closed) I could buy many missing ingredients. I want to cook every damn recipe like right now =p

I strongly believe that our new-invented words will some day fill dictionary pages all over the world 😉

Thanks and thanks. 🙂 Over the break, I had absolutely NOTHING to do… And the very thing that got me out of best was knowing that I had all the ingredients to make a delish breakfast, so I would make an 1/8 batch of muffins while the tofu was draining for the tofu scrambled, and I’d do everything else while the muffins were baking!!

I don’t play any sports, but I make it to the gym 5 or 6 days a week… I actually joined Mock Trial this semester to try something new, and that’s what I was doing this weekend: Pretending to be a lawyer and doing three-hour fake trials!

I LOVE FFV. I’m one of the vegans trying to lose some excess poundage… though I’m NOT a vegan just to lose weight (obviously!), and I’m thinking venturing out to the gym could do it instead 😉

I didn’t end up making pancakes, but today I made lemon cupcakes from VwaV, and buffalo tofu from HappyFoody, and they were all delicious!

I love Fat Free Vegan Kitchen as well. I too was not really into the idea of what I considered “diet food” as I am not fat, walk plenty, and as of this point, don’t really need to worry about that. But you would never know her recipes were fat free!

They are wonderful. I have so many of SusanV’s recipes saved in my “recipes to try” pile.

Glad you have jumped on the FFVK bandwagon!

  12. Vegan_Noodle says

Totally agree, I’ve tried a bunch of Susan’s recipes and have never been disappointed. Not even sure I can pick a favorite…

It is a fantastic site. I remember reading about a chocolate cake that contained no fatty oils. Now imagine that!

  14. Theresa says

I agree, it’s such a great website. And maybe this is morally reprehensible, but I often add fat to the recipes. Instead of silken tofu in baked goods, I’ll use margarine or oil or whatever it seems to be filling in for. Or sometimes, I use peanut butter, for extra flavah.
