A tisket, a tasket. A vegan Easter basket

Although my sister and I are both grown up, my mom still loves to make us Easter baskets like she did when we were little girls. And hey, I’m not going to complain about that!

.

This year’s Easter basket contained nail polish, 2 stuffed animals, veggie soup mix (my mom is a funny lady), bunny socks, a chick pin, 2 lollipops, money, and duck soap-on-a-rope (my sister got bunny soap-on-a-rope. I told you my mom’s a funny lady!)

Yes, I am coming to Texas! My parents live there, and the kids have spring break in April, so we are driving out to visit! I love Texas, and I love visiting my parents as well! My mom is taking me to Spiral Diner, hooray! (the Fort Worth one)

Just wanted to pass on this information …

    Oh Soy Tasty!

If you have a few minutes to spare, could do us a huge favor and read the article and comment at the bottom of the page? We’re very excited about getting such great press, especially from a magazine of this caliber. If everyone drops by and leaves a quick comment, soon there will be no doubt in any publisher’s mind: YES, readers absolutely do want to know about vegan happenings and developments. You go pink girl! haha, you look really sweet. And the basket? can I show it to my mum and convince her to give me one even if we don’t celebrate Easter at all?

  8. Bonnie says

Aww, that’s so sweet of your mother to make you Easter baskets! and I think that pink dress is adorable ^^

  9. Jennifer says

How sweet of your mom to still make you Easter baskets! Those picture of you with the basket and Henry are so cute.

  10. Binx says

hah– my mom (who is isn’t vegan) loves finding vegan things for holiday goodies, i.e. easter baskets, christmas stockings, etc. i love moms.

  11. Bianca says

I’m glad I’m not the only one who still gets an Easter basket! And you look so pretty in your pink Easter dress!

  12. ChocolateCoveredVegan says

    Sarah,

Yes, I am naturally this way. I don’t count calories or worry about what I eat (except to make sure it’s vegan LOL). But seriously, I have friends who are much bigger than me and have just as good of a life!

Be happy with who you are (ugh, I sound like one of those annoying motivational speakers!!!).

  13. Sam says

That is so cute! My mom just gave me boring old concert tickets…
    😉

You’re dress in awesome! You look pretty in pink! I look ill in pink…

  14. Ruby Red Vegan says

Ahhh, cute basket and of course cute Easter outfit! I love the dress/white tights/shoe combo 🙂 I used to get Easter baskets too – I’ll have to ask my mom what happened to that little tradition, because now I want one too!

  15. asmexyhousewife says

EEP! I <3 your outfit, there.

Ducky soap on a rope. That is priceless!

My parents got my husband and I some gifts for Easter, but due to some family illness I have not been able to visit and claim it! They won’t tell me what it is, but it is being kept in the freezer to keep fresh… hmmm.

Speaking of gifts, there is something I have for you! But you have to wait a little bit. Heheheh.

  16. vegan addict says

your dog is too cute! so cuddly! i hope you enjoyed all the lovely treats in your easter basket! is your dress handmade?

  17. Billy says

    Nice Easter basket.

I imagine that’d be hard to sum up your life in six words. Jeez, I wouldn’t know how to do that. Sounds fun, though.

I’m glad you had a good Easter.

  18. bean_mix says

    you are waaaaaay too gorgeous

amazing post as usual. Your family sounds like so much fun!

  19. Vegan_Noodle says

Awww, my mom is the same way 🙂 I got an easter basket full of flowers and fresh rosemary.
Love your pretty pink dress too!!

  20. radioactivegan says

okay, first — i love your outfit in these pictures. so so cute! Second, I’ve never had chocolate nibs, so i’d probably want to try those … actually, I’ve never had any of it! but i’ll stick with the nibs for now.

  21. sagojyou says

Wow! Your mom IS a funny lady! 😀 I want an easter basket at this age!

I would like to see the Love Street Living Foods Maple Chocolate in my easter basket!

  22. aimee says

hey girl, since i’ve got my own truffle making business (bittersweetonline.net) i guess i’d say the cacao nibs would be great as i hand-roll my truffles and they’d be perfect for the coating of my bittersweet classics 🙂

  23. Nikita says

Hey Katie! I’ve been reading your blog for a few weeks now, but this is my first comment. All those treats look delicious, but since I can’t stop making your delicious fudge babies and variants, I think I could put the raw cacao nibs to a good use in a baby recipe!

  24. Laura E says

Your mom seems like such a sweet lady! I would love to have all those chocolate goodies in my basket but if I had to pick one it would be the Love Street Living Foods Maple Chocolate! Happy Easter!

  25. jennifer h says

I would most want to find Navitas Naturals Raw Cacao Powder because I can only imagine all the things that I would make with it!

  26. veggie365 says

I’d love to try the Navitas Naturals Raw Cacao Powder! Thanks for a great giveaway – Happy Easter!

  27. Kelly Michelle says

oh my goodness can I say I want all of them!! I love those chocolate nibs but I guess for an Easter treat I would have to go with truffles 🙂

  28. Cara says

I won’t be getting an Easter basket (Jewish!) but if you were to send me one I would love to try the raw cocoa nibs… so many possibilities with those!

  29. Cara says

I won’t be getting an Easter basket (Jewish!)but if you were to send me one, I would love to try the cocoa nibs – so many possibilities!

  30. Jennifer says

TRUFFLES! I of course would like EVERYTHING because I loooooove chocolate, but truffles are my number one. Plain vegan chocolate truffles seem very hard to come by – usually they have weird flavors which I’m sure a delicious but my true love is the classic chocolate truffle.

Happy Easter! Your mom is adorable! I never got baskets that awesome even as a kid!

  31. Becca says

Single origin chocolate! I don’t celebrate Easter because I’m Jewish, so it would certainly be exciting to get an Easter basket 🙂 Plus I’ve never won a giveaway.
    Happy Easter, Katie!

  32. Sonia says

How cute are you!!! In my Easter basket I would like the Navitas Naturals Raw Cacao Powder, to make more fudge babies with! <3 Have a great weekend!!

  33. Ashley Mellinger says

I feel sort of silly doing this since this is my first comment on your blog even though I follow (love) it and everything…but I would want the Navitas Raw Cacao Powder. I bought a book on raw foods recently and have been doing a lot of research on it – this would be a great item to have in the kitchen!

  34. Kim says

Ooh, it’s hard to decide but I’d have to say the Love Street Living Foods Maple Chocolate sounds irresistable! But then, I am Canadian:)

Just had to say that last night I made my favourite vegan brownie recipe and decided to replace the walnuts (because I was out) with raw cacao nibs. Suffice to say everyone who ate them was too wired to sleep, but they were incredibly good!

  35. stratgtar565 says

I’d love to find some Gnosis Truffles in my basket! They look so delectable, and I already have a raw cacao powder of my own. I might use them as garnishes for my brownie oatmeal, no wait, they look too good for that. I’d just eat ’em straight up!

  36. Rachel says

    SO CUTE. I love easter.

I’d probably want to win the Love Street Living Foods Maple Chocolate so I can share some with my mom :o)

  37. Hollie says

Ohhh all the treats look so yumm.. but I LOVE cacao nibs. I hope the Easter bunny is reading your bolg:)

  38. Kelsey says

adorable photos, katie!!! especially with your cute little dog :]
Askinosie Single Origin chocolate sounds amazing!!

  39. Judy (Cookbook Maven) says

Ulimana dark chocolate truffles . . . even tho I’m Jewish and don’t get an Easter basket!

  40. Hannah says

Right now, I would be happy to find anything! See, I’m in Florence, at the tail end of four months of solo travelling, and my famil are all in Australia (with the time difference, they’re just waking up on Easter Sunday). So I’m getting nada, zilch, nothing for Easter!

So I really hope I win… some chocolatey Easter goodness would help the spirits right now!

  41. Michelle says

They all look amazing, but I’d definitely want the gnosis truffles. I’m sure they’re super yummy, and they look so pretty!

  42. lunchiemunchies says

Gosh tough decision- would have to be the cacao powder I think ( so I could make the raw chocolate yumminess last longer and be creative!)
    xxxxxxxxx

  43. Jenna says

So cute!! Man, I have to say I’d love to get those Gnosis chocolates in my Easter basket! You look so adorable in that dress!

  44. Stefanie says

It was not an easy choice but I would like to see the Gnosis Raw Vegan Truffles. I have never had a vegan (or nonvegan) truffle.

  45. Vanilla says

    Awwwwww You’re soooo cute <3 <3

I want to have YOU in my Easter basket, lol!
But since it's required to enter the giveaway, I'm going to say that the Dark Raw Truffles are welcome in the basket too :p

    xoxo

  46. Taylor D says

I love Easter because it’s right around my birthday, and finding the UliMana Dark Cacao Truffles on Easter morning would make the day even better if that’s possible 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!

  47. Danielle says

My mom made great Easter baskets, too! The best thing that I ever got was a phone– it was clear plastic and had colorful wires inside. It had a cord and everything, as this was around 1992! It was my first phone of my own– I got to use it in my bedroom! Ahh, freedom!

This year, I would like to find a Lodge cast iron pizza pan in my basket… or in the mail, I’m not choosy!

  48. Jen says

Well, I don’t celebrate Easter, but I couldn’t resist entering the contest. I have a sneaky feeling that those Uli Mana truffles are suitable for Passover. 😉

  49. Gaby says

Aww you look so cute in your pink dress!! I’d most like to win the cacao powder. I think it would be the most versatile and I could use it for a bunch of things. When it comes to chocolate, the darker pure kind is the best!

  50. Katrina says

If we’re supposed to tell you what we want from your Easter basket two years ago, I’d pick the blue bunny, if we’re supposed to pick from your new blog post, the dark chocolate truffles.

  51. rachael says

I would love any of those treats in my easter basket, but if I have to pick one I;’ll go with the gnosis truffles!

  52. Rebecca says

I would like to find the Love Street Living Foods Maple Chocolate in my Easter basket, I love anything maple!

  53. Kathy says

I just want a choccolate easter bunny But no one got me one so will go buy one when they are half off tommrow…. Love your pictures very fun

  54. Derk Thomas says

I think the UliMana Dark Cacao Truffles because I heard good things about it, but really they all sound good and you cannot go wrong.

  55. Ben says

I wish I got cacao nibs in my Easter basket. All I got was couscous (2 boxes!) and Snack Salad Snapea Crisps…

  56. Mara says

I would love to win any one of those =] but if I have to chose one I’d pick the raw chocolate nibs (btw, I think those say “cacao power” not powder, but maybe it’s the wrong picture.) Either way, I would LOOVE some raw cacao powder, as well, so whether they’re nibs or powder — I’m sold!

  57. Johnna M Jackson says

love the Askinosie Single Origin Chocolate…but would really take any of them. Gave up chocolate & candy for lent and it’s been a LONG time since I’ve had anything so yummy!

  58. Teresa says

Do I really have to pick just one?? So hard, but I guess I would most like to win the Gnosis raw truffles. Everything looks so yummy!

  59. ThePony says

I would love to try the Navitas Naturals Raw Cacao Powder.
PS I just made babies for the first time and I can’t keep my hands off!! Thanks!

  60. Trail (Oven Aversion) says

Oooh wow, you’re asking us to choose among chocolates?! Seems a little like picking your favorite child!

Ok ok, I guess the cocoa powder would be my #1 choice because I assume it’s close to cocoa nibs, which I’m dying to try! Second would be the UliMana cocoa truffles because they look sooo delish.

  61. becca says

Mmm. Even though I love white chocolate, the truffles and maple chocolate sound amazing.
Who am I kidding? I’d be happy with any of these choco-treats.

  62. Kaysie says

Cacao POWER! and i’m not sure if its because I like the raw chocolate more or if I like saying cacao POWER in my arnold swartz. voice!

  63. jiaying says

i want the Askinoise Single Origin Chocolate! love the packaging!

i want your dress and stockings! you look so sweet just like a doll~ ahaha kidding about wanting your dress and stockings. :p
