Dinner at P.F. Changs

Although the restaurant does serve meat, P.F. Chang’s vegetarian options are plentiful. The menu boasts its own vegetarian section, with dishes like Coconut Curry Vegetables, Stir-fried Buddha’s Feast, and Chang’s Vegetarian Lettuce Wraps. All of these items are completely vegan– the restaurant uses mushroom oyster sauce in place of fish or chicken stock for their vegetarian dishes. But this is only the beginning.

P.F. Chang’s also offers its diners the option of ordering almost any dish with tofu, and the servers are happy to check if a certain dish’s sauce has animal products (if it does, they are also usually very willing to leave out the animal products so that your dish is vegan). Lemon Tofu, Sweet-n-Sour Tofu, Kung Pao Tofu… any of these can be enjoyed at P. F. Chang’s. My own favorite dish is the Vegetarian Lettuce Wraps, which I order without rice sticks and with spinach instead of the iceberg lettuce. To find your personal favorite dish, you’ll have to try the restaurant for yourself!

I must apologize in advance for the truly horrible picture of my meal. I forgot to photograph the food, so what you see is a cropped picture that just so happened to catch my meal in the background. (It actually wouldn’t look so bad if it weren’t for that darned straw!)

Congratulations! Of course you got all A’s, you smarty pants!! =]

Mmm, I love restaurants that realize that there are many people out there who even if they aren’t vegetarians would rather not eat meat all the time! I wish I had more veg-friendly restaurants around here, maybe I’d eat out more!

Ooh I haven’t been to PF Changs in a long time but now you’ve inspired me to check it out!

    Congrats on the good grades!

I’ve never taken a photography class or anything, I just pretend to know what I’m doing 🙂

  3. Ricki says

Well, no surprise about the As. . . I could tell just from reading your blog that you’re intelligent and thoughtful! Congratulations!

I’ve never been to P.F. Chang’s, but have heard just what you said: love and hate relationships.

My only problem with the idea is that it’s a chain and all that, and I like to support local restaurants when I can. Plus, we have some AWESOME Asian restaurants here.

Congratulations on the A’s Katie! Bulgur is also sold as Burghul in many places (including here, you can’t buy it labeled as Bulgur here).

Congratulations on your grades! P.F.Changs sounds pretty great, I wish we had a chain like that around here.

Hourrah for my Special K! (I think I’m going to keep calling you that, katie, because you’re so darn cute!) Welcome to the nerd’s club! 🙂
I used to just love the lettuce wraps at PF Changs! That was one of my “last meals” before leaving my sunny desert SW before coming to France! Delish!

    Congratulations on your grades!
I wish there was a PF Chang’s anywhere near me, I would love to try it!

    Congratulations on the great grades!

We ate at PF Chang’s on Mother’s Day. We had great food, including appetizer veggie dumplings.

I love that website you pointed out! Have you ever played Balderdash? It’s our favorite family game.

Oh, congrats!! Especially because since you posted pictures a while back from when you and your fam were at your school, I know what a great school you go to! You’re obviously incredibly bright, so this isn’t surprising news 🙂 Yum, PF Chang’s… I don’t think there’s any close to me up here in NYC, unfortunately! I love going there at home though, the lettuce wraps are a-mazing.

Congrats on the grades. You are one smart chocolate covered cookie. 🙂

I’ve never been to PF Changs, I’m not sure if there is one near here or not. But the options sound wonderful. All those veggies smothered in some super spicy sauce, this vegan would be in heaven.

Oh, bulgar yum! I hope others can find it, it’s good stuff. Makes a great cold grain salad for potlucks and such.

    Congrats on the all A’s!

Thanks for the P.F. Chang review. I have only been there twice and that was before I was vegan. I liked it then, so I am sure I will like it even more!

  13. Ruby Red Vegan says

Yay for all A’s – I think we’d both agree that P.F. Chang’s is a great way to celebrate!

I didn’t ever think to ask them to “veganize” any of the meat dishes with the fancy sauces… I think I’ll stick with the lettuce wraps though because I like them so much!

  14. Erin says

I’ve heard nothing but good things about PF Changs but have never had the chance to go to one, the closest one to me is an hour and a half away. I’ll just have to ogle your meal and eat vicariously.

  15. Kate says

I went to PF Changs last weekend and had a negative experience. I think it was just this particular restaurant on that particular day, but it was disappointing. I’ll have to try again and that Kung Pao tofu looks awesome. I had the Buddha’s Feast, but it was just a pile of steamed broccoli and they forgot my tofu so that was on the side and I had to mix it.

  16. russ says

That’s pretty cool that you can have any dish with tofu instead – if only we had restaurants like that here ! (I don’t think our ones around where I live have even heard of tofu!)

Great news with the grades! All that studying does pay off huh! congrats!

  17. Bonnie says

Wow, all As, that’s great! congratulations! I’m glad all the work you did paid off for you, and you got to enjoy a nice dinner with our parents and sister afterwards!
That place sounds great, I love it when non-vegan restaurants have all these great vegan options on the menu!
