Stir Fry Salad

September 18, 2008

I know the energy bar post was supposed to be next, but I figured I’d finish with the stir-fry theme first. Energy Bar Post will be coming your way tomorrow… for real!

Yesterday I wrote about a stir-fry sandwich. Today I bring you The Stir-Fry Salad! This may look like a repeat of my dinner from Monday, but it’s different in one special way– because it was so hot outside, I opted to eat tonight’s stir fry straight outta the fridge; no microwave nor wok necessary.

With frozen strawberries (another attempt to combat the heat), a Bistro Burger (cut in half, as usual, so it’d cook better in the middle), and two slices of toast with a little vegan butter.

Eating it cold took my stir fry to a whole new level. Oh, and if you’ve never tried Chinese 5-Spice powder, I highly recommend it!

Energy Bars tomorrow– get excited, people! Or not…

I love stir frys :-D So easy to make and take so little time.

Chinese five spice powder is definitely great. EVERYONE should try it. There’s something about star anise that just makes everything better. haha

Lucky you–needing cold stir-fry and frozen berries to combat the heat! We’re already into sweater weather over here.

And I love Chinese 5-spice–one of my favorite flavors!

I adore both of your stir-fry ideas. I think putting it in a sandwich is completely novel – I certainly had never heard of it before! And I never would have thought to eat it cold, either. I like cold leftovers, so I’m sure I’d love this, too!

Can’t wait to see the energy bar post!

Katie you rock the stir-fry. I went out tonight to get more veggie to make a stir-fry. I love Chinese 5 Spice too. I discovered it when I was in college 20 years ago. I use it to this day. I find it essential in many dishes I make.

I love to eat cold green beans out of a can, and when I ate spaghetti-o’s (they really need a vegan version!), I ate those cold as well!

Haha such original ideas =). But seriously, when you’ve got a lot of leftovers you might as well use them in different and unique ways. Like I just had a ton of leftover meatballs, and while delicious over pasta, need to be eaten as a hero too! Perhaps your next step is a stir-fry smoothie!

Oh dear, another person reminding me of another spice I know I need to have… You are incredible with your leftover stir-fry ideas! I am just beginning to realize that making large quantities of food and freezing makes for the easiest, fastest meals during the week. Took me this long!

I’m excited about your energy bar post! Those little guys are so tempting, I can never seem to save them for emergencies.
