"Sarah Palin is a Pumpkin"

by Chocolate-Covered Katie on December 5, 2008

Is anyone else highly amused by– and a little bit scared of– the searches that lead to their blogs?

I have a ton of work due tomorrow (our last day of classes for the semester, before exams start. Where has the time gone?!), so no product reviews today. However, I do have time to leave you with a recipe of sorts. (Don’t get excited; it’s not exactly gourmet!)

The “recipe” comes from this morning’s second breakfast. While running, I was really craving cereal. But it’s so cold outside that it seemed counter-intuitive to eat cold cereal. (Yes, you can stop being jealous of me now; it’s back in the thirties here in Dallas.)

Therefore, I decided to cook up a lovely bowl of… well, mush. Not the prettiest of breakfasts; but it took care of my craving perfectly.

Into a cereal bowl went a serving of Weetabix flakes, about a third of a banana (all that was left; I’d frozen the other 2/3 for a recipe), and 2/3cup soymilk. I popped this into the microwave for a few minutes and let the flakes get all soggy and the banana caramelized (caramelized bananas are one of God’s most genius creations). Then I stirred in some frozen strawberries and microwaved it a little more. Sweet perfection!

Warmed me right up. Good thing, because after eating I had to go back out in the cold to walk to class!

That is a very interesting Google search to lead someone here!

I’m loving this cereal mush! Everyone is microwaving their cold cereal and I’m getting jealous that I haven’t done it yet!

Thanks for the great idea!

Among my favorite weirdo keyphrases is “Jared Padalecki is kind of lame.”

Also… “Cody is awesome.” ‘Cause it’s true.

I’ve been seeing warm cereal suggested all over… I’ve been meaning to try it with my Maple Brown Sugar Life.

Hm, I don’t think I’ve posted enough on my blog yet to have any odd searches lead to it!

That warmed cereal looks amazing! I’ll have to try it this weekend when I have more time to cook breakfast.

Also, do you have a favorite recipe for tofu scrambles? Or do you just sort of wing it every time?

Ohh, that breakfast looks amazing to me!!! I love heating up cereal.

How do you see what people are searching for that leads to your blog?

I wonder what leads to my blog….

Yum! I’ve had Grape Nuts microwaved, but I’d forgotten how much I like them that way. They get soft and absorb a lot of the soy milk. I like to add cinnamon and a little agave nectar as well. Thanks for reminding me of this good breakfast for the cold mornings ahead. Next I’ll have to try it with Weetabix.

Stay warm!

That idea for your cereal is a great idea. I used to something similar in my pregan days with Grape-Nuts. It would really keep you warm on those cold winter days of riding the bus and walking on campus (University of Kansas, Rock Chalk Jayhawk, go KU)

Wish I could do that now, but no microwave.

Mmm.. warm cereal! I remember I used to eat Total cereal that way back when I was a kid (my mom totally got me into that).

I crave cereal frequently, even moreso than oatmeal, but I’ve yet to try eating my vegan cereal warm.

I think I’ll try it this way next time I get cravings, esp. during this brutal weather.

30s, btw, sounds HEAVENLY right now (it’s a mere 5 degrees out here!!).

good luck with your hw and any other things you’ve got going on.. hang in there, Katie.. you’ll do great and Winter Break is only that much closer.. :-)

That is by far the best Google search I have EVER seen – I laughed out loud!

That cereal mush looks pretty darn awesome! I should really try it because I’ve been eating cereal a lot lately and it’s very cold outside where I am, too! Cold and windy – blech. This cereal should do the trick ;o)

ZOMG!!! THAT IS WHAT I DO TO MY WEETBIX (aussie brand) ON HOT DAYS!! >> 0_0 (shocked) … sometimes I microwaved my super high fibre cereal in water for a few minutes and stir them into my oatmeal/shakes to boost up the fibre content – SUPER AWESOME!! :D

That IS a matach made in heaven–two of my favorite brekkie foods! I’ve been eating your blended cereal (warm, of course) so much lately that I’m going to turn into a millet flake! (And I plan to post about it, as well–such a great idea!).

Good luck on exams!

That’s funny…warm cereal is the only way I ever eat any kind of cereal…I despise cold milk (I actually threw up once drinking a glass of cold milk back in middle school…strange). Unlike most people I actually like cereal when it gets soggy.

This microwaved cereal concept keeps catching my interest! Evidently I need to try it!!

Oh my gosh, it is highly amusing what weirdos search for and end up at the lovely CCV blog. “Sarah Palin is a pumpkin”??? Don’t you kind of wonder what kind of person comes up with that?

I’ve never considered putting cereal in the microwave, but I saw on this phenomenon Veggie Girl’s blog earlier too. Anyway, I’ll have to give it a try.

When Guppy was born, my "nursing breakfast" was warm wheatbix & soymilk w/fruit!
You always have the best breakfasts – let's all have a sleep over at Special K's! And how did that date go, by the way?

Halie– Definitely try it… and don’t forget the banana (banana in microwave = soooo gooey and yummy!).

Jen– I was eating an old Motts applesauce the other day and I had to throw it out! Once you try the Whole Foods’ one, ya can’t go back! I don’t know why some companies dilute their applesauces with water.

Nadia– Yay for soggy cereal! Why don’t people like it??? They’re the odd ones, not us!
