Any ideas as to what it is?  No, it’s not a ball of twigs.  That would be a gross recipe for sure!

You’re all trying this beautiful food for the New Food Challenge, right?  Right? ;)

Happy Friday!

Love,

P.S. I have NO idea why my post looks so bad/spaced-out in Google Reader.  It looks fine on my actual blog.  Dunno where all these weird spaces are coming from…

Hmm… is it seaweed of some sort? That’s my best guess, haha. :P

Mmm, arame is good. I took a class once that made a sweet-n-sour tofu stir fry with arame. Agh! Getting hungry…

I’m going to send you an e-mail with all the new foods I’ve tried soon! It’s been so much fun.

I’m guessing that’s some sort of seaweed thing?!

  6. May 29, 2009 5:57 pm

    MOSS! of course…

  7. May 29, 2009 5:57 pm

Ooo is that hijiki? Or konbu?

  8. May 29, 2009 6:17 pm

My guess is that it’s some kind of seaweed

Ooo, I’m so glad that I tuned in just in time for this fabulous new recipe round up! Everything looks delicious. I’ve been absent from blogging for the past week because my friend was in town, and it’s always exciting to come back and find such mouth-watering recipes!

absolutely no idea what that was until reading the comments (and still don’t really know what it is…) but I’m up for trying anything!

Hm no idea what the picture is, but I did try something new tonight: Soba noodles! I realize they aren’t very exotic, but I’d never had them before – pretty tasty! My husband and I went to a Japanese restaurant and he ordered cold soba noodles with wasabi and scallions. The whole dish was served on ice cubes! :)

I’m definitely going to check out your other recipes – they look delicious!

Yeah, no idea. Totally looks like a birds nest to me. I’m intrigued.

It looks like hijiki to me, can’t wait to see what you come up with!

  14. May 30, 2009 2:09 am

It looks like hair but I’m assuming it tastes much better. Then again I’ve never really eaten a ball of hair… maybe that would actually taste good too…?

    I kind of hope not.

    You make the BEST recipes.

Love the housekeeping Katie! It all looks delicious! I have no idea what that is, other than to guess that it’s some kind of noodle or asian ingredient!

Don’t worry about google reader, I have a love/hate relationship with mine. It marks posts as read when they’re not, then they all come back to haunt me at once so I have like 250 to catch up on, only problem is I’ve already read half of them! Ugh!

    Katie,

First off-Happy Saturday! Hooray for weekends!

I’m guessing it’s some kind of seaweed. ;p

    Hope your weekend is wonderful!

    With Love,
    Emily

    Looks like moss. :)
Arame … should be interesting :)

gee, I thought it was hijiki lol … am trying to make faux tuna seitan and am playing around with “algae”.
re: new foods… I tried the pithahaya (dragonfruit) and while it didn’t do anything for my, my oldest son is hooked. I thought it tasted like kiwi, which he is allergic to. No probs with the dragon , though and so he will enjoy the luxury (at 2.99€ each) of a dragonfruit every fortnight.

then I tried medlars, which are highly popular among the Turkish expatriats around, – but I didn’t seem to be able to get them at the correct point of ripeness… or they are simply abominable, strange-tasting little buggers, anyway lol

I tried avocado (yes, you are invited to make fun of me) and I think it’s that ripeness problem again, because everyone I talked to was drooling over avocados and I found them bitter and…. blech….

I still have some plantains lying around (any easy and foolproof recipes, pretty please?) and my personal Mt. Everest, tempeh in the fridge (which I still can’t decide about… what will I make from it? simply cut it in rounds and fry it or make some spring roll inspired puff pastry cushions… I really want to experience the “pure flavour”, yat at the same time I fear it lol)

Thanx again for the challenge, Katie, – hope you will help me try something new again any time soon :)

Whoa, I have no idea – it looks like a dust bunny!
