Pearl Jam

Part One

So full of wonders is New York City that I’m already on my third post… and I only spent three days there!  How many posts would I have to write if I’d spent a week?! Part One of the NYC Posts detailed my culinary adventures with my dad at Hangawi (as well as our cheesecake fest the next morning).

.han

Part Two: I discovered a new favorite restaurant and ordered quite a lot of food!.

Moving on to Part Three: Pearl River Mart, a Dish-a-Holic’s dreamland!

(Weirdo)

If you thought Pier One was a fun place to shop for dishes, oh boy do you need a trip to Pearl River Mart.  It boasts not one, but two floors filled with dishes of every size and shape imaginable, some of which are the most adorable things you’ll ever see!  From owl teapots to piggy plates to flowery bowls, I wanted to buy out the store.  Don’t even get m started on all the origami, trinkets, and other non-dishware I wanted to buy. Unfortunately (fortunately for my wallet, though!) I had to exercise self-control because whatever I bought had to be carried around the city all day.

As I mentioned in my Survey about Me, I harbor a huge obsession for all things panda-related.  So, looking at the panda dishes below, can you now understand how hard it must’ve been for me?  Poor CCK…

Along with the panda plates and dishes, they also had a panda pencil sharpener, paper shredder, balloon…

I did end up buying a few dishes.  (And that pencil sharpener; I just couldn’t resist!)

I would buy an ice cream maker because I desperately want to make vegan coconut milk ice cream. And then I’d probably throw in a few of my own dollars to buy some adorable ice cream dishes! And an ice cream paddle. And any other ice cream accoutrement they offer!

  12. Lisa says

Haha, well I won’t be needing a crib. But I am moving off-campus next year, so I’ll need some furniture or cooking supplies!

  13. Stephanie says

Oooh, I’d put it towards the Shun Classic 7″ Santoku Knife…we have a serious lack of good knives in our kitchen!

  16. sarah says

i am a huge fan of Le Creuset – just started collecting, so i would put the gift certificate towards more, more, more! 🙂

  17. Laura E says

I would definitely get a new blender! Mine dies a little more each time I use it 🙁 I’d want either a Magic Bullet or the Aroma Stainless Steel Blender in Silver!

  18. Julia says

My mom has been spreading herself WAY to thin lately… tending to my brother’s broken leg, and helping my dad out as he prepares for hip replacement surgery. I feel really bad, and wish that I could take the entire load of life off of her shoulders. She needs some more time for herself…

We do have a little “garden” type area in our courtyard, which prior to life’s hectic ways taking over, was deemed her summer project. I want her to be able to make this courtyard her sancuary though, in spite of everything. So I’d most likely used the $60 to buy her some garden decor items and/or outdoor furniture. She deserves the world, granted, but I think some nice little gifts like these will suffice for now! (I can’t give her the world lol)

  19. Lori says

Wow, a person could spend a lot of time shopping on that website! I need a new kitchen scale so would get one of them and I have been wanting a medicine ball…

  20. veggie365 says

After reading your blog for quite a while, I’ve been wishing for both a Magic Bullet (in lieu of the Vitamix that is outside of my budget!) or a stick blender – these would both come in so handy to try some of the awesome recipes you post! Thanks for the great giveaway!

  21. sarah says

I don’t own a blender, toaster, or ceramic dishes! New post-college kid on the need for some great stuff for the big girl apartment 🙂

  22. Marie says

For the CSN giveaway, I would definitely invest that 60 dollars in a kitchenaid mixer that I’ve been wanting forever. What a cool giveaway!

  23. Nicole P says

I would loveee to give my mom a magic bullet! She does sooo much for me and my brother. She deserves it. Truly.

  24. Erica Rose says

I’d put it towards a KitchenAid stand mixer. I’m thinking about starting a cupcake business out of my house, and I’d definitely need a stand mixer!!

  25. Hela says

    hi katie!
soooo, i´ve been spending some time now on the csn homepage and i´ve found gorgeous stuff!!
i love making pies and i found that: Emile Henry ‘Bake for the Cause’ 9″ Pink Pie Dish – 696131
not only is it pink, they donate 10% of sale to Breast Cancer Research 🙂
i moved out 2 wks ago and i still don´t have a pie pan! so i really need one.
with the rest of the money i´d buy Progressive International Avocado Slicer – GT-3654. i love avocados n would welcome everything that make them easier to peel :).
    so, fingers crossed 🙂

  26. alex says

I would definitely buy a food dehydrator. I’ve been wanting one of those forever to make my own veggie crisps and snacks!!!! I am very sensitive to a lot of foods (especially sugar), so I think it would be so much fun to make my own snacks!

  27. megan says

I would buy a waffle maker because I love making banana waffles all the time. Plus it would make a great mothers day present/ breakfast:o)

  28. melissa says

i would buy a magic bullet because i always see the commercials for them anddd it seems like everyone has one!

P.S. i totally have the panda bowl that matches the plates!! i am planning to buy the whole set over the summer =P

  29. Grace says

I’ve been wanting the Calphalon stainless steel pans for a while…I think I might add the $60 towards buying a set 🙂

  30. christine says

I’d buy the waffle maker– I’ve been using one that I got at walgreens during college and it’s starting to shed its non-stick shell. Time for an upgrade!

  31. Rika says

I’d get a mini food processor! or the magic bullet- I need some hassle-free, college culinary items!

  32. virginia says

I would either get a food processor/magic bullet or some kind of grill thing! or maybe a frozen yogurt maker?!?!? or maybe some cute lil’ plates?? ahh so many choices i hope i wiiiiin! 😀

  33. Erin says

I would buy a calphalon pot. I have a pan and love it…but need a good pot to cook my oats in. 🙂 mine are old and peeling….

  34. blair says

I’d definitely put the $60 towards a panini press! It’s something I’ve wanted for a while but never treated myself to!

  35. Melissa says

I would buy a new blender–mine is now making horrible noises every time I attempt to make a smoothie!!!

  36. Alexis says

I would get either a cast iron pan, food processor, or mixing bowls – all of which I’ve been meaning to get for so long.

  37. Beth says

I’d go with a spiralizer and some new knives. Mine are bad, old, and cheap… time for a serious upgrade!

  38. A.B. says

Ooo! I would love to own the EatSmart Nutriton Scale with Digital Food and Nutrient Calculator in Silver. So helpful… and shiny!

  39. J.L. says

I would buy the Calphalon One Infused Chef’s Skillet for my Mom (Mother’s Day gift!). Our current wok is almost as old as I am, and I think my Mommy deserves something special. 🙂

  40. Sarah says

And i thought i was the only one with a bowl fetish! I literally have two cabnits full of random cups, bowls and plates! Im incapable of walking into a store and not going straight to the bowls!

If i win i’d definately get a spiralizer! Ive been dreaming about one forever. And then i;d use the rest to get my mom something exciting for mothers day!

  41. Eileen says

If I won the give-away I would be torn between what i need (a toner cartridge for my laser printer) and what I want (new bakeware).

  42. Jin says

I would invest it in a new food processor for my mom-the plastic bowl is broken and she uses it with it taped!

  43. Rebecca says

I would get a food processor for sure, I’ve been wanting to make my own hummus for a while now.

  44. Kate says

I would buy some glass storage containers so I won’t be using nasty leaching plastic anymore. I’m done with chemicals that don’t belong!

  45. Jennifer - jcd says

I could really use a GOOD waffle maker, so if I had $60 I would put it towards that. And hurrah, they ship to Canada!!

  46. Kelly Michelle says

ohh I have been wanting a mandolin but you could get lost in this website. There is so much good stuff I wouldn’t be surprised if I changed my mind 100 times!

  47. Sara says

KATIE!!! okay, if I won the 60 buckaroos, I would definitely invest in a food processor. I’m a broke (not really but I’m saving up my dough) college student who would really really benefit from a fp!

  48. ionlyliveindreams says

Oh my goodness… It would be between a magic bullet or a new blender… Or probably a bazillion other things because I can never make up my mind XD

  49. Lauren says

I think would use my $60 towards some fun kitchen tool.. maybe an ice cream maker or one of those kitchen aids…

  50. Karen says

I know it’s not food related, but I would love to get my Mom a new sewing machine to thank her for all she does.

  51. Megan says

I finally broke down and got the Magic Bullet this weekend (and I’m going to have to hold off on a Vita-Mix for now), so I think I’d use $60 towards something like this: http://www.dinnerplates.com/Noritake-8034-Series-NTK3435.html. Good suggestion on the site 🙂 I’m so bored with my kitchen, but I’d like to be able to have my basic dishes all in the same scheme at some point. Then throw in random coffee cups, serving dishes, etc. for fun.

  52. Becca says

I’d put the $60 toward either a Vita Mix or a mandolin. Or maybe an ice cream maker (mine is too hard to use and I adore the Vegan Scoop recipes). Then again, I might just get some small things that I need … like new chopsticks. 🙂

  53. Karen says

    I would probably use the $60 towards exercise equipment/accessories. UNLESS . . . I completely gave into temptation and bought a Vita-Mix!

  54. Lisa says

Well, I might actually put it toward a crib, because I’ve got a wee one on the way! Though other people’s mentions of Vita-Mix make me think that putting baby in a blanket-lined drawer might TOTALLY be okay. I’d still use the Vita-Mix to make baby food, so it’s not like I don’t love the baby!!! 😉

  55. Rachel says

I would definitly use the $60 for a spiralizer or glasses (I am constantly breaking them…oops)
