I like 'em tall, dark, and handsome. The darker, the better.

When I asked for favorite-sauce ideas, an overwhelming number of you said that nothing beats good ole marinara sauce.  I couldn’t agree more!  And so…

zucc

Spiralized zucchini noodles with my favorite tomato sauce

Making a meal of it:

graduatedsummercup

Also on the Menu:

Ricemilk (not in the infamous penguin cup!)

Steamfresh brussels sprouts

Juicy blueberries

And these delicious tempeh strips

But wait; there’s more:

In true chocolate-covered fashion, I ended the meal by breaking a piece off of my #1 true love.

panther

Just look at those smoldering eyes…

70% cocoa is childsplay; I crave the bitterly-potent, velvet-on-your-tongue taste of real deep, dark chocolate.

What about you?  What’s your favorite chocolate?

(Assuming you like chocolate, as all people should ;) )

All favorite is my favorite chocolate! I know that’s a pathetic answer, but it’s the truth. I have NEVER met a chocolate I didn’t like.

What’s that on your plate next to your brussel sprouts? Your blueberries look perfect!

My favorite chocolate used to be milk chocolate…especially Lindt truffles :) But now that I’m vegan, I like 70%…I know, I’m a wimp.

I LOVE the chocolate in your picture! I have some in my fridge right now. If I am lucky and can find Lindt dark chocolate and sea salt, I snatch it up. But usually even the Lindt store is out!!

It’s fun everyone who brings me chocolate, brings me the dark one..they don’t know I prefer the ordinary milk chocolate;).
What about the white one, do you like it?

Mmm who doesn’t love chocolate?! For cheap good dark chocolate, I like Dove. For the more expensive types, Godiva or Lindt.

Dagoba Xocolat, the spicy one with chilies and cinnamon in it, is my all-time favorite! It’s smooth and sweet when you first take a bite, then the heat hits you a moment later! It’s divine.

Hi Katie! Do you serve your spiralized zukes cold or hot? Just curious. :-)

I love dark chocolate, too!

Oh my god… those noodles and that sauce look AMAZING. I NEED a spirializer now now now.

I’ve had 99% dark chocolate. It was amazingly rich but very good. But I much prefer around 85% for my chocolate. Although I’ve had ricemilk milk chocolate and it was a surprisingly good treat.

Damjana August 5, 2009 at 4:10 pm

I don’t like it either very much. Though I don’t doubt you might once surprise us with your own tofu white chocolate

I just tried Purely Decadent Soy Ice Cream – Chocolate Obsession… WOW! Chocolate Ice Cream with swirls of chocolate sauce and chocolate flakes throughout… You should try it!

Marinara is definitely a go-to classic. I like to make a fresh sauce with ripe tomatoes and lots of basil :)

My favorite chocolate is the Scharfenberger 82% “extra intense” bittersweet bar.

Kattieeee! I missed you & your blog so much while I was away on vacation!

I’m glad to catch up with everything. Love all the spiral-y action ;) and all of the creations you’ve made.

My favorite chocolate is anything dark, really. I love chocolate peanut butter, too. Dark Chocolate Dreams, of course. Are there any other nut butters w/chocolate out there that you prefer?

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Love,
Meg

I love the super dark stuff too, but my fave is Terra Nostra Ricemilk Choco!

Reply

Vaala August 5, 2009 at 8:55 pm

Hahaha! I ADORE your blog title! It reminds me of many a late night conversation with my old flatmate…we discovered it applied to chocolate, beer AND men (well, women to him but you get what I mean)!

Yeah, the darker the better (although 100% was a bit much…unless eaten with a hot chocolate at the same time!). If it’s got mint in it too then I’m yours forever too :)

Sorry, I haven’t visited and commented in a while…but it means I have lots of posts to catch up on while procrastinating from doing work!!

Katie, my dearest, you must try Taza Chocolate! D-y-n-a-m-i-t-e. It’s stone-ground in a Mexican mill — pretty awesome stuff. Anyway, the highest cocoa content they put in a bar is 85%, but ’tis magical still. I’m with you, though — I love chocolate at its darkest! (But 91% is the highest I’ve had so far!)

Anyway, love the tempeh strips. Well, I haven’t tried them, but they look scrumptious in your perfectly-put-together meal. You eat such yummy things! And you are wonderful!

tabitha August 5, 2009 at 11:14 pm

what? there are people who don’t like chocolate?
crazy!
i’ll take theirs :)

you have inspired me to purchase a special treat in chocolate at my next grocery store trip
i have only gone that dark once, years ago and hated it
i used to hate dark chocolate at any level, gasp!
i think i’m ready to up my game

Reply

broccolihut August 6, 2009 at 3:51 am

YUM! Brussels sprouts and chocolate:)
Which one is your favorite of the marinated tempeh strips? I like the sesame garlic one I think.
Fave chocolate? I’m always a sucker for Ghirardelli or Lindt 70%. However, I am pretty inexperienced in the chocolate world (gasp!). Recommendations?

Ooh, your zucchini spaghetti looks great. As for chocolate… I love any type with a hint of raspberry or caramel in it. Delish.

Great spiralizer ideas! I love my spiralizer, but don’t use it nearly enough (it’s great for carrots, too). :)

Chocolate–usually I’ll take whatever’s around, but I do like a nice dark chocolate-orange flavor.

elise August 7, 2009 at 2:41 am

i’ve never tried that kind of choc…im more of a carob girl myself.

question. what did you think of those tempeh strips? im not a huge fan of tempeh, but im always looking to find a way to enjoy it since it seem like something i SHOULD like…just wondering. i really only like it when i make it myself and LATHER it in bbq sauce.

To be quite honest, I have a special place in my heart for white chocolate ;) What can I say? It’s creamy deliciousness! But I can also handle some dark chocolate goodness. I find that it’s not always about the percentage, it really depends on how the chocolate is made as to whether I’ll like it or not.
