I miss my Friends. Who’s with me? No fair that there’s going to be a second Sex and the City movie but no talk of even one for Friends.
I hadn’t planned on writing a “Birthday Present” post, as I couldn’t—for the life of me—figure out how to do it without sounding showoff-y, like “Look what I got.” But so many people asked that I guess I’ll have to try! Here goes…
.
Absent Joey coupons aside, my presents were awesome this year
(although nothing can ever top the best birthday present ever).
Some highlights:

And baby makes three… I definitely didn’t need another pair of running shoes. (Well, actually, with how quickly mine get worn-out from all my “trail” running, maybe I did.) But my mom said, “Katie, they were so pretty; your favorite color. I couldn’t resist.” See, I told you: Mommy = the best
With the shoes came the clothes:
(taking care of #7 on this post)

Guilty pleasure #1
I’m not a big tv-watcher, but DH and Gossip Girl are my two vices (along with sports and the aforementioned Friends, before it ended).
.
Guilty Pleasure #2
A case of Chocolate Crack in a wrapper
These oughta last about a week…
New stamps for Africard-making and scrapbooking
Wii Fit = Another technological gadget I’ll have to figure out. Seriously, peeps, I am so bad with technology. It was two years before I even broke down and got an Ipod! And don’t even get me started on the Blackberry…
I have an infatuation with Vera Bradley’s mesmerizing patterned bags. But mine’s not as bad as that of a lady I met in the store one day. Her husband said she liked Vera Bradley so much that she had Vera Bradley toilet paper. Gosh, I hope he was kidding. (If not, he needs to learn that some things should not be shared in public.)
Other highlights included lotsa jewelery, some clothes, and a Snuggie blanket (because my mommy has a strange sense of humor lol). But what I loved even more than the stuff was the thought behind it all. The fact that my family and friends took time to think about my interests, instead of just buying any old body lotion or candle, means the world to me.

.
What else means the world to me?
A mom who slaves away in the kitchen to make me a vegan chocolate mousse pie!
.
.
Finally, while we’re on the subject of pie:
A few of you said you’d like to try your hand at recreating this raw coconut cake.
If anyone ever has success, please let me know!

what awesome gifts…. i can tell you have lots of family that loves you! and i have a snuggie too…
Happy belated birthday!
New shoes? Gift envy over here!
What great gifts! I LOVE the Wii Fit. It’s the only thing that got me to try yoga out lol.
And I’m with you on Friends. I have all the seasons on dvd – It’s the best show in the world! I don’t want them to ruin it by making a movie. But if they did, of course I’d go see it anyways
aww what thoughtful gifts from everyone! i am OBSESSED with Friends, who’s your favorite character?
personally, i would love to see a Friends reunion!
have a great day girl!
I so agree with you on Friends–I love love love that show. I still watch the re-runs all the time. My favorite character was Ross and I loved Joey too!
Happy Belated Bday!
Wow, lucky you! I agree that thoughtful gifts are the best. Clearly, your friends and family love you a lot.
You’ll have fun with the Wii Fit. It’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it. There is a nice set up procedure you go through to assess your balance and what not. I like how it awards points based on minutes of playing, not by calories/weight/BMI/whatever. It is very positive and fun. It’s addicting though, beware! And have lots and lots of fun!
And if anyone re-creates a raw (or cooked) coconut cake they’ll be my hero too!
I’m terrible with technology too. You’re not alone.
such great and thoughtful gifts!
Happy birthday! I disagree on the movie however! I think a Friends movie would be disappointing and anti-climactic to the ending of the show!
I would love it if they made a Friends movie. I just got my season five out the other day and started watching it…I think it’s my favorite season (the ones before and after everyone finds out about Monica and Chandler). There’s nothing that makes me laugh harder. I love Gossip Girl, too – saw them filming it this summer
And someone PLEASE figure out how to make that cake!
Happy Birthday CCV! Great gifts, especially the running shoes (I could use some new ones too) and the WiiFit.
On coconut cake, I’d like to try recreating it, but then again, I’d love it even more if someone else did it and posted the recipe! Yea, I’m lazy. But maybe someone will…good thinking re-posting the pic to inspire folks.
What lovely gifts, and I liked your crack in a box to last a week sentence….LOL!
I hope you have a lovely BDay month, not just day
Can’t wait to see what kinda food you whip up in tomorrow’s post. I’m workin on desserts today too. Yay for desserts!
xoxo
I want a Friend’s movie! Or just another series. Do you watch Scrubs? I LOVE that show!!!!
I NEED some coconut pie. Do you have a tofu “chicken salad” recipe by any chance?
Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday and what fabulous presents! Your family and friends are so thoughtful because those presents are GREAT! (I especially love the chocolate!!!)
What great presents! I am particularly loving the Desperate Housewives and the Vera Bradley bag. I have wanted one of those bags for aaages, they are so lovely!

Love the gifts – looks like you had a VERY good birthday! I know what you mean about Friends. I watched that show all through my college years and was very sad to see it end. I didn’t know what to do with myself on Thursday nights after that. Bring back Rachel!
Oh I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Wii fit. Not a shameless plug katie- but check out a couple of posts I wrote on it- I loved it so much I had to blab and blab
Glad you had a great day!
Ah, the rubber stamps…I still have a huge collection of them. I break them out from time to time to make cards. I used to hit up any rubber stamp store in any city I visited- before scrapbooking was popular so they were kinda hard to find. I also used to go to Rubber Stamp conventions. yes I did!
Sweet swag! You have some great people that love you and have good taste in gifts:)
Let me know if you need any help with the wii fit (although my husband did set up mine). You will have fun with it. Great gifts. It’s always nice when there is a mmeaning behind somethig or it is very thoughtful with only you in mind. Vera Bradley rocks! I am jealous. I had limited weight moving here so I left my Vera in storage. I have a Coach addiction so I brought some of those instead. Vera would have been lighter to pack though.
It’s always so nice to have great days with family and friends! looks likey done good, too
oh my gosh! SO jelous of your Wii Fit!! i want one so bad. they are so so much fun
and your apron is super hot!

Love Vera Bradley! I have the Daisy Daisy pattern and it makes me happy
wow those are pretty running shoes. You really lucked out..clothes, technology, food..you got it all this year! I haven’t seen those bars in Canada..they look fabulous though.
Oh mah gawd, a whole box of Wild Bars? You must have been a very good girl this year! YUM. Looks like you were good and spoiled for your birthday, which is exactly what you deserved! Nothing’s better than thoughtful gifts.
You deserve it all love!!!
I looooved Friends! Now my favorite shows are GG and Project Runway. It’s the only TV I watch!
Mmm, that coconut cake looks like heaven! I must try it!
Hmm. What is this “Blackberry” of which you speak??
(that said, I do have an iPod — it’s 2nd generation!)
-Lisa
You’re SO right Katie – bring on the Friends movie! I miss it

And Gossip Girl is most definitely a guilty pleasure of mine, too
All your presents are so fantastic! Let me know what you think of the WiiFit once you work it out – I think it’s great, you can run at any time of day in any weather with it
Love xx

Have a nice week
Awww you do have a super sweet momma =) I love how she “couldn’t resist” buying you those shoes! The people you love sure do know you well. I much prefer very personal gifts as opposed to general gifts/gift cards. It tells you how much the person took care in getting to know you and getting your present
Hey Katie, don’t worry too much about buying new running shoes. You should replace them every 300 miles! Based on your running schedule, that sounds like every 5-6 weeks. Crazy, but it’s better for your bones, muscles and joints. If you’re worried about the waste, I think you can donate old shoes and kids can wear them or really old shoes are used to make the surface of running tracks.
Happy birthday!
Your fellow runner,
Caroline
Aww, what sweet, thoughtful presents! Your parents are so nice
wow you seriously had some great haul in that birthday loot!! A the presents get lesser as I get older, but that’s ok I’ve got so many great things in my life I didn’t have when I was younger
Wild Bars and a Wii Fit – 2 of my most favorite things ever, and I own neither. Enjoy some Wii Hula Hoop action while munching on one of those Thin Mint Cookies for me, will ya?
So glad you had such a wonderful birthday Katie.
are you in school?
have a job…?
Yay it looks like you had a great birthday!!!
That pie, Friends, and the Wii Fit = BRILLIANT!!!!!
Aw, what fabulous gifts – made so much better by the fact that they’re from a loving family.
I’m secretly a Desperate Housewives addict too…don’t tell anyone!
Ok – so it’s totally cheating unless and until we see a photo of you decked out in all your new gear – sneakers shorts and singlet. I bet you look totes professional on your crazy runs! ABB
Totally agree on the Friends movie…I want to see what Emma looks like all grown up!
