But where are my coupons for Joey love?

by Chocolate-Covered Katie on September 15, 2009

I miss my Friends.  Who’s with me?   No fair that there’s going to be a second Sex and the City movie but no talk of even one for Friends.

I hadn’t planned on writing a “Birthday Present” post, as I couldn’t—for the life of me—figure out how to do it without sounding showoff-y, like “Look what I got.”  But so many people asked that I guess I’ll have to try!  Here goes…

.

Absent Joey coupons aside, my presents were awesome this year

(although nothing can ever top the best birthday present ever).

bday

Some highlights:

shoes

And baby makes three… I definitely didn’t need another pair of running shoes.  (Well, actually, with how quickly mine get worn-out from all my “trail” running, maybe I did.) But my mom said, “Katie, they were so pretty; your favorite color.  I couldn’t resist.” See, I told you: Mommy = the best

With the shoes came the clothes:

(taking care of #7 on this post)

clothes

Guilty pleasure #1

I’m not a big tv-watcher, but DH and Gossip Girl are my two vices (along with sports and the aforementioned Friends, before it ended).

.

Guilty Pleasure #2

A case of Chocolate Crack in a wrapper

These oughta last about a week…

New stamps for Africard-making and scrapbooking

Wii Fit = Another technological gadget I’ll have to figure out.  Seriously, peeps, I am so bad with technology.  It was two years before I even broke down and got an Ipod!  And don’t even get me started on the Blackberry…

blog

I have an infatuation with Vera Bradley’s mesmerizing patterned bags.  But mine’s not as bad as that of a lady I met in the store one day.  Her husband said she liked Vera Bradley so much that she had Vera Bradley toilet paper.  Gosh, I hope he was kidding.  (If not, he needs to learn that some things should not be shared in public.)

blog2

Other highlights included lotsa jewelery, some clothes, and a Snuggie blanket (because my mommy has a strange sense of humor lol). But what I loved even more than the stuff was the thought behind it all. The fact that my family and friends took time to think about my interests, instead of just buying any old body lotion or candle, means the world to me.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

What else means the world to me?

A mom who slaves away in the kitchen to make me a vegan chocolate mousse pie!

.

.

Finally, while we’re on the subject of pie:

coco

A few of you said you’d like to try your hand at recreating this raw coconut cake.

If anyone ever has success, please let me know!

What great gifts! I LOVE the Wii Fit. It’s the only thing that got me to try yoga out lol.

And I’m with you on Friends. I have all the seasons on dvd – It’s the best show in the world! I don’t want them to ruin it by making a movie. But if they did, of course I’d go see it anyways :)

I so agree with you on Friends–I love love love that show. I still watch the re-runs all the time. My favorite character was Ross and I loved Joey too!

Happy Belated Bday!

Wow, lucky you! I agree that thoughtful gifts are the best. Clearly, your friends and family love you a lot.

You’ll have fun with the Wii Fit. It’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it. There is a nice set up procedure you go through to assess your balance and what not. I like how it awards points based on minutes of playing, not by calories/weight/BMI/whatever. It is very positive and fun. It’s addicting though, beware! And have lots and lots of fun!

And if anyone re-creates a raw (or cooked) coconut cake they’ll be my hero too!

I’m terrible with technology too. You’re not alone.

Happy birthday! I disagree on the movie however! I think a Friends movie would be disappointing and anti-climactic to the ending of the show!

Reply

Jenny September 15, 2009 at 2:50 pm

I would love it if they made a Friends movie. I just got my season five out the other day and started watching it…I think it’s my favorite season (the ones before and after everyone finds out about Monica and Chandler). There’s nothing that makes me laugh harder. I love Gossip Girl, too – saw them filming it this summer :) And someone PLEASE figure out how to make that cake!

Happy Birthday CCV! Great gifts, especially the running shoes (I could use some new ones too) and the WiiFit.

On coconut cake, I’d like to try recreating it, but then again, I’d love it even more if someone else did it and posted the recipe! Yea, I’m lazy. But maybe someone will…good thinking re-posting the pic to inspire folks.

Love the gifts – looks like you had a VERY good birthday! I know what you mean about Friends. I watched that show all through my college years and was very sad to see it end. I didn’t know what to do with myself on Thursday nights after that. Bring back Rachel!

Deb (SmoothieGirlEatsToo) September 15, 2009 at 4:00 pm

Oh I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Wii fit. Not a shameless plug katie- but check out a couple of posts I wrote on it- I loved it so much I had to blab and blab :-D

Glad you had a great day!

Ah, the rubber stamps…I still have a huge collection of them. I break them out from time to time to make cards. I used to hit up any rubber stamp store in any city I visited- before scrapbooking was popular so they were kinda hard to find. I also used to go to Rubber Stamp conventions. yes I did! :-D

Let me know if you need any help with the wii fit (although my husband did set up mine). You will have fun with it. Great gifts. It’s always nice when there is a mmeaning behind somethig or it is very thoughtful with only you in mind. Vera Bradley rocks! I am jealous. I had limited weight moving here so I left my Vera in storage. I have a Coach addiction so I brought some of those instead. Vera would have been lighter to pack though.

Awww you do have a super sweet momma =) I love how she “couldn’t resist” buying you those shoes! The people you love sure do know you well. I much prefer very personal gifts as opposed to general gifts/gift cards. It tells you how much the person took care in getting to know you and getting your present ;)

Reply

Caroline September 15, 2009 at 10:10 pm

Hey Katie, don’t worry too much about buying new running shoes. You should replace them every 300 miles! Based on your running schedule, that sounds like every 5-6 weeks. Crazy, but it’s better for your bones, muscles and joints. If you’re worried about the waste, I think you can donate old shoes and kids can wear them or really old shoes are used to make the surface of running tracks.

Happy birthday!

Your fellow runner,

Caroline
