this one time, at band camp…
I’ll refrain from finishing that sentence, just like I refrained from ever watching the end of the movie. I just couldn’t get into it. ‘Course, American Pie isn’t my least-favorite movie; that right’s reserved for something like Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. Disgusting sexual/bathroom humor grosses me out.
What are your least-favorite movies?
I’m really glad that everyone seems to be as excited as I am about the
That post’ll be up soon. Due to schoolwork, I don’t really have time for a long post today, so I’m once again devoting blog space to some truly-wonderful friends who made me so happy and therefore deserve recognition (not that they don’t deserve it anyway). Won’t you join me at band camp? (I promise not to do anything gross with a flute.)
Welcome to Camp Banana Butter!
More people have jumped on the Banana Butter bandwagon bananawagon since last time.

The band keeps growing. However, we’re still in desperate need of a tuba player. Who wants to fill those shoes? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
Now there’s a movie I did like.
Thanks so much, girls, for joining the band. It really makes my day when someone tries one of my recipes. Speaking of which, I just realized that my three most-popular recipes at the moment are all named with double Bs.
So weird how that happened!
(Banana Brulee, Banana Butter, and Brownie Batter pancakes)
Back to the homework now. Be sure to check out tomorrow’s post, as it’s quite long (and it has nothing to do with banana butter; sorry I’ve been blabbing about that incessantly lately).
It might just stir up a bit of healthy conversation/debate as well
.

I decided I HAD to try and make the banana butter since it was so popular. I made mine with sunflower and almond butter. yum! It reminds me of banana bread. Great dip for my sliced green apples. Now I see why it’s so popular!
No. Way. I thought I was the ONLY one who knew about that movie. I had a tape cassette of Tubby the Tuba when I was younger, but rarely listened to it in favor of side A, which was CAROL CHANNING narrating Peter and the Wolf. Amazingness. And it drilled into me a dead-on carol channing impersonation! It’s a party trick I like to break out
I need to make banana butter! i am doing my own (read: much cheaper…yay for owning your own juicer!!!) version of Blueprint Cleanse with my mommy for the next 3 days, but after that, it’s buttahtime!
I actually came on here for an entirely different reason, though….I am up at 7:15 and am about to leave the house and run outdoors. I never run this early, especially outside. And I have you to thank for the inspiration
Oh good, another person who never finished that horrible movie. I only watched the first few minutes and couldn’t get away fast enough. I don’t know why people find those types of movies funny.
My least favourite movie would have to be ‘Last Night’. My parents got preview tickets to this supposedly family movie and it was far from it. I think it traumatised me a bit. We left the cinema not more than half an hour into the film. Something about the end of the world and someone wanting to ‘sleep’ with a thousand people before he dies. Yuck.
Anything really traumatic or gory is also on my refuse-to-watch list: Aliens, Predator, Saw, etc.
On a happier note, I prefer fluffy feel-good movies such as Annie, Love Actually, Freedom Writers, and such. A good action or comedy is always welcome: Hitch, The Guardian, Apollo 13, etc. I even still enjoy kids movies like Beauty and the Beast, Hocus Pocus, VeggieTales, and Harry Potter.
Enough from me. I look forward to your ‘controversy’ post tomorrow.
Sweetie I am so busy with life that I only watch 2 tv shows and dear lord if I was in a movie that was bad, I’d walk right out and see another one. Life’s too short to watch bad tv or movies! Disgusting sexual & bathroom humor grosses me out too. I do make some lighthearted references in my posts but I think they’re funny not gross. I draw the line at gross. I guess everyone’s line is diff though LOL. Ok so in all seriousness, very glad to hear you might post something debate-worthy. Wow….I’m excited! Girl dont be a glutton for punishment now and have all kinds of crazy mail come at ya
I love ya and only want kind words comin’ your way
p.s. I just posted and fingers crossed that googlereader glitch is gone.
I must try the banana butter soon!!! As for movies, I hate, hate, hate anything with Nicolas Cage. His face makes me want to vomit, and I’m not sure why. Does that sound mean? A bad high school Conair/first date memory has ruined Nic Cage for me for life.
I do love Harold and Kumar though! But then again, I like bathroom humor and silly pot movies. Deep down, I’m really an awkward 16-year-old boy.
So glad people are discovering the wonder of Banana Butter! As for me, though, now that I’ve lived and loved the BB, it’s time for me to join the AA. And by that I mean All the way Arame, of course.
Been dying to make it for so long and I think this might be the week! Will let you know once I’ve loved it for myself, of course.
I hate bathroom humour, slapstick comedy (falling on a banana skin – or whatever the equivalent is now – is so not funny) and torture porn – I saw the first Saw, then Hostel. If I let myself I can still see certain scenes from Hostel (genuinely traumatised!) and that turned me off the whole genre. ick
funny…i’ve been making banana butter for years and didn’t even know it! it’s one of my favorite dips, and my son loves it too.
different strokes for different folks on the movies, i guess. i’m a huge fan of toilet humor. but us being different is what makes this beautiful world go ’round.
MMMM banana butter.. delish!!!
Yay for banana butter. Love bananas!
Funny, I can’t think of any movies I didn’t like, just the ones I do like. Did I repress all memories of bad movies? Did I fall asleep in these movies? Who knows. have a great day. I am off to enjoy some family time.
My least favorite movie . . . I can’t remember the name of it right now, but there was a monster and it was so scary and depressing — and then there wasn’t even a happy ending!!!!! Terrible!
Hmmm…my least favorite movie is probably the Goodbye Girl, or maybe Willow. I just remember my mom and sister watching them over and over and it drove me crazy!
I have a nice, overripe banana just waiting to be made into banana butter. Have you ever used a frozen one?
A girl after my own heart! New blogger here and this post has made me a BIG fan- I actually wrote a post talking about my unnatural (sacred) love for peanut butter and banana. I cannot WAIT to try this! And frozen banana and pb…*swoon*
I totally agree! I am not a fan of that type of humor– I just don’t find it funny. Give me a good drama or chick flick and I am set!
I remember being surprised that American Pie wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. But I do hate that I can’t tell any of my own band camp stories without thinking about that movie.
Hahah, love the Ferris reference
American Pie’s not really that great at all, I think I’ve seen a few of them but only ever half paid attention to them while watching. Like you said though – not my LEAST fave. I think maybe that prize is taken by Material Girls. No, I’m sure there’s worse out there. Somewhere…
Take care lovely! Can’t wait to hear more about this debate-sparking topic!
xx
Must. Make. Banana. Butter!!! I looks so creamy and delicious. Next time I get bananas for sure.
I HATE the Saw series. I just CANNOT watch them, so disgusting!
I’m not a fan of that movie either…my ‘friends’ dragged me along to watch it when it was released and it was a sleepover staple for years afterwards. I admit to laughing at the infamous ‘pie scene’ but more out of sheer horror than anything else. I think my most hated movies ever are ‘Dude, Where’s My Car?’ (actually wanted to poke my own eyes out after ten minutes of this) and Stargate (boredom again, but for entirely different reasons ~ the plot was strung out to an unfathomable length and was just utterly pretentious…and I’m a sci-fi fan! And it also spawned the dire TV series that my Dad watches around the clock)
*ooh* I can’t wait for the next post…I love a bit of healthy debate and controversy and your take on things is always so thoughtful, eloquently expressed and well-considered
Get some rest and don’t work too hard if at all possible
*hugs*
Ooooh I’ve been meaning to make BB!! Perhaps I’ll be initiated to le camp soon
Eh, American Pie was ok. I’m not a big movie girl overall. I prefer TV shows and food blogs! haha
do you have someone on recorder yet? LOL. i still need to make this stuff >.<
You’ve got quite a band going on there… and yeah I’m definitely a no to “disgusting sexual bathroom humor” myself. Thanks for keeping it clean Katie!
OOhh I’m excited for tomorrow’s post!
I wanna join the band and make banana butter. I have complete confidence in all of your recipes by now
I’m not very picky when it comes to movies. I like the majority of them that I see. One in particular that I remember hating was Vanity Fair with Reese Witherspoon. I actually felt that I had wasted 3 hours of my life after seeing it!
Bananawagon! *giggles*
Least favorite movies? Anything with Matthew McConaughey, I just don’t like that guy at all. I’ve never seen Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, and now that you mentioned it has disgusting sexual/bathroom humor, I probably never will!
HI Katie! Just want to tell you that I am digging your blog! Love your cute posts, pics, and RECIPES! I had the Banana Brulee Oats for breakfast today with almond butter mixed in- soooo awesome- I am already planning to have it again tomorrow.
I will definitely try Banana Butter soon, I have a bunch of *very* ripe bananas that will be perfect for the butter and the brulee!
I can’t think of any particular “least-favorite” movies, but I hate anything with lots of yelling and general unnecessary loudness
Eh, speaking of homework, I should probably get on mine now. *sigh*
My least favorite movie is probably Clerks 2–I thought it was just plain disturbing.
Fave movies (wayyy before your time!) : Airplane and The Jerk! (Although Austen Powers is up there too)
mmmbanana butter I need to jump on this!!
Yay, I’m part of the band now!
I seriously love this banana butter. I’m going to make some more soon because I definitely finished my first batch already. Soo good in oats or on top of toast. Thanks for the great recipe and the shout-out Katie!
Icky–I hated BOTH of those movies too. Van Wilder was pretty disgusting too.
I think I will put those brownie batter pancakes on my weekend to do list–I’ll be at home on break, so I will blissfully enjoy every bite:)
there are plenty movies i hate but i have learned not to talk about them in public – living in hollywood, it always turns out the director or producer is sitting right by me, listening to me tear it apart!
About your bar giveaway…..mint is about my 35th favorite flavor so I think I’d be giving a lot of those bad boys away, but you know how I love giving!!!! (I also like going to the post office…what is wrong with me?)
Regarding movies, I really don’t enjoy The Princess Bride. I have friends who are BONKERS over it, quoting it, naming pets after it, and I just don’t think it’s funny. One bit.
This is WAY before your time, but in its day Night Shift was the funniest movie ever! Introduced us all to Michael Keaton who was brilliant and is now quietly living out his life in Montana or on a ranch somewhere.
I recently loved Slumdog Millionaire and thought it was worth all the hype, but now sure where my humor level’s at these days (I love Flight of the Conchords and some people don’t get it, so different strokes…) Get to that homework, girlie!
Katie,
Oh my gosh, I wished we lived closer to one another because I know we would be great friends. I didn’t even get halfway through American Pie before shutting it off…that and Knocked Up. Gross. I do not like those kinds of movies at all! I was always more of Ferris Bueller kind of gal.
I’m embarrassed to stay that I still have NOT tried Banana Butter.
I had to comment because I actually played the tuba for 7 years– from the 6th grade until freshman year of college. haha
I desperately want to try banana butter but don’t have a working blender or any similar object, alas. However, I DID microwave a banana for the first time this week (last week?) and that was fabulous!!
