Chocolate Sweethearts

by Chocolate-Covered Katie on November 3, 2009

I don’t even know how to begin to thank everyone who wants to help (or who has already!) raise money through Operation Chocolate-Covered Kindness.

It really warmed my heart and bought tears to my eyes to see how many of you are willing to help.  Every time someone left a comment saying he/she’d help, I literally wanted to jump through the computer screen and hug that person.  (Hey, just ‘cause Hug-a-Carb Month is over doesn’t mean we have to stop hugging!)

I am so excited for this month, because how good will it feel at the end to know that we helped provide families with food, clean drinking water, and—most importantly—HOPE?

I want these people to know that someone (or in this case, many “someones”) DOES CARE.

.

Recap:

If you missed my post from yesterday, please please please take just a few seconds to read this post:

Operation Chocolate-Covered Kindness (I’m going to be linking to this a lot.)

For the short recap, see below:

.

What can you do to help?

  • Spread the word!  If you have a blog, please help me get the word out by blogging about, or even just mentioning, the “Operation Chocolate-Covered Kindness” page view charity drive on your blog.  (Feel free to use the logo as well.)
  • During the month, click on as many pages/links on my blog as you can.  Each post you click on, and each link you follow, earns more money for the charity drive.  Or, when you see my posts in Google Reader, simply click on the posts instead of reading them in Google Reader format (which doesn’t translate to any page views).

Now… I promised a fun month, filled with giveaways, fudge baby recipes, other recipes, running posts, debate-sparking posts, and maybe even another day-in-the-life post.

What do you want to see first???

Let me know, and I’ll get a new post up tomorrow :) .  And to everyone who has already helped by clicking extra, making a recipe and blogging about it, and/or linking back to the charity drive, I am forever grateful that selfless, compassionate souls such as you guys live in this world.  I’m going to try, but it may be a while before I’m able to thank you all individually, because so many wonderful people are helping to make this world a better place!!

Katie – I think YOU are the one who needs a big bear-hug! Putting this idea out there for all of us to help with is brilliant. Kudos to you!

As for posts – there hasn’t been a running post in a while, so maybe that? (I hope your ankle is doing better – are the orthotics helping?) Otherwise, all your post ideas sound fabulous, as always, and I look forward to reading them all.

Wow, I just read your last post and am amazed at your generous spirit.
I’m also amazed that you get 1000s of page views per DAY! I dpn’t even get that in a week. I knew your blog was popular, but wow! Keep up the good work Katie, and I’ll definitely be linkng back.

I made two batches of fudge babies last night, although one didn’t include chocolate at all! I’ll be posting about those sometime soon :)

I’d like to see a debate-sparking post! Those are always fun and get a lot of comments. Also, maybe a new breakfast recipe?

I want to see another day in the life. But that’s just because I’m nosy. Oh and I second what Jenna said. I don’t even get 100 page views per day, let alone thousands. You are awesome Katie, and people can see that.

Is it weird that when I have 5 minutes of free time, I just start clicking random posts on the blog in honor of OCCK? :)

Does it count if I view your site on my iPhone? I do actually go to your site and don’t read it through an RSS reader or anything. Just curious!

Hello Sweetness! Just wanted to let you know that I LOVE this idea and I directed people to come over to your blog in my most recent post. I will be sure to keep it up all month long!

All of your ideas sound fantastic ~ I always love hearing about your running and really enjoyed the last ‘day in the life’ post, but anything you write is always fantastic :)

I agree with what others have said: give yourself a little praise and credit for coming up with such a wonderful idea. If more people were like you then we could truly make some difference to the world. Cliché, but true.
