Raw Macaroons

Raw Macaroons

Completely raw macaroons that are entirely vegan and contain no added sugars…

macar

(Form them into balls, bars, or cookie-cutter shapes, like the Peanut Butter Babies.)

Macaroon Babies

  • 160 grams dates (1 and 1/3 c) (I use Sunmaid because they’re softer)
  • 1/4 cup coconut butter
  • 1/4 cup tbsp shredded coconut (I used unsweetened)

Note: A few readers/bloggers have successfully subbed coconut oil for the coconut butter, but I haven’t tried. Blend first two ingredients, using your blending gadget-of-choice (I use the Magic Bullet short cup). Mix in your coconut. Alternatively, you can roll the balls in coconut after forming them (as in the first photo of this post). Form in shapes of your choice. You can use the plastic bag trick. If you find the mixture too crumbly, put the bag in the fridge for a while before forming shapes. Due to the melty nature of coconut butter, store the Macaroon Babies in the fridge or freezer (that is if ya don’t eat them all first!).

OMG … Coconut Macaroons?! More than droolworthy, seriously!
Well … I can’t get coconut butter .. aah, that sucks! (Germany sucks at the availability of many vegan things 🙁 )

    • Linda says

Sünne you can make your own coconut butter. Simply blitz some unsweetened shredded (desiccated) coconut together in a food processor until it comes together. It can take anything up to 12-15 minutes. Failing that, the recipe will also work with the solid blocks of creamed coconut.

      • Sünne says

Ah, yes, I’ve seen several bloggers make their own coconut butter that way. Unfortunately, though, I don’t own a food processor. Also, I’m not sure how strong a food processor would have to be for this task (I’m from Europe and therefore can’t get the brands of food processors US bloggers have).

  2. Abby says

These look delicious, just like their fudge baby siblings. YUM. Ill post a link on my blog tonight about your Operation Chocolate Covered Kindness!

  3. Eliza says

macaroony babies! ha love it! you have the best ideas, i have all the ingredients so i must make these raw macaroons soon, artisana coconut butter = love 🙂

    xx
    Eliza

  4. Jessica says

You know I’m on board to make these! I already have coconut butter, but I need more dates (making all those fudge babies has drained my supply!) Can’t wait for tomorrow’s post! 🙂

  5. Jenny says

not gonna lie — I have been crazing samoas like no other now that girl scout cookie season is upon us — but your little macaroon babies are a more than worthy replacement 🙂 come up with a recipe to cure my thin mint woes, please?! 😉

  6. Bianca- Vegan Crunk says

I love all these raw goodies you’ve been makin’ lately…and I’m so mad cause yesterday was raw day, and I meant to make your fudgey babies for my next raw day. And totally forgot!!! I ended up getting my sweet fix with a Ginger snap Larabar…not as good as your babies, I’m sure.

Question: I’ve seen recipes lately that call for coconut butter, which I see you have. I’ve never seen any around here, but it looks just like solidified coconut oil. Is that the same thing?

  7. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) says

Looking AMAZING Katie, way to go!!!!!!!! Basically once you have your date (and/or nuts) blend…you can just start adding ANYthing and the possibilities are endless and that’s what i love about raw cooking too…you can just go and create and do awesome stuff. No other appliances needed 🙂

Love this post for also consolidating all the backlinks on one page. Organizing the fudge baby family tree.

Raw Mounds bar action, can’t wait to see your creations!

  8. Kris | Iheartwellness.com says

Ok Sweetie, again your treats look amazing! Lucky I just got back from whole foods with a jar of coconut oil and it is Screaming Vegan Macaroons!!

You are too funny…your posts make me smile Doll!

I hope you are having a great day!

  9. Jenny R. says

I bet I know what mound babies are made out of…..bliss??? hehe good thing I have a jar of that stuff lying around here. Ummm what’s the best way of melting coconut butter a bit so it can come out in tablespoon format? I’ve been boiling some water in a pot and then sticking the jar in there. I guess that’s really the only way…is that how everyone else does it?? (i’m a no microwave radiation kinda gal…*shudder*)

  10. gina (fitnessista) says

you know i love macaroons 😀
i can’t wait to try your version- it looks amazing! i’m very excited for those mounds babies!

  11. Christina says

Hey Katie! I just checked in on your blog and read about Operation Chocolate-Covered Kindness. You are so great for doing this! Of course I’ll help. Now I have an excuse to make one of your recipes again 🙂

  12. River - The Crafty Kook says

    Macaroony Babies, yeah! 🙂

I will definitely mention Operation Chocolate-Covered Kindness on my new blog soon (whenever I get off my lazy butt and start it!)

  13. Heather Eats Almond Butter says

    Katie,
I have totally slacked on my linking duties. So sorry my friend! Need to get linking in my next few posts.

Super excited about the Mounds Bars. 🙂

Super jealous my Whole Foods still does not sell Artisana products!

  14. MarathonVal says

Katie, I am amazed at how you make all of these creations with dates… I cannot keep dates in my house for longer than 24 hours!! My husband and I devour them within seconds, we are so addicted. I can never keep enough around!

Mounds bar sounds awesome – I also love to make raw, vegan “Almond Joy” bars by blending 3 c. almond meal, 6 T cocoa powder, 7 or 8 T. agave nectar, a splash of almond extract and a pinch of salt! 🙂

  15. Anonymous says

I am SOO partaking in makin me some macaroon babies. In fact, I think I’ll give it a shot during my self-care cooking session tomorrow 🙂

    Have a fabulous evening, prettyyy!
    Rebecca

  16. BroccoliHut says

Well, if you’re gonna force me, I guess I’ll bust out my coconut butter…and proceed to eat spoons of it straight from the jar:)

  17. Chrysta says

Wow! Great photos. I was always curious about the chocolate coconut butter. Ive seen it at the store a bunch and have always been tempted to buy it. What else do you use it for? Im super curious about it! I cant wait to start making some fudge babies. Great ideas. The chocolate with pb on it! oooooh delish! thats my favorite combo!!

  18. Marianne says

You know I whole-heartedly approve of anything delicious and coconut. I don’t know if I could bare to use up any of my beloved coconut butter in one, but you never know.

  19. Kudret says

I would eat the coconut butters by whipping up your raw macaroon recipe. I’ve never eaten raw before and I just think it would be so so so yummy and exciting.

  20. JCD says

I think I would love to try making cashew cookie babies. Who am I kidding, if I won your contest I would have to make one of each flavour. And then use the remaining coconut butter to recreate that coconut pie you spoke so highly of.

  21. jessi says

mmm id use it in everything!! ive made all the babies with just regular coconut oil..dont put it past me to eat it straight up out of the jar

  22. Vegan Nebbie MM says

I would looooove to try the nut butters in a fudge baby recipe, I’m thinking pumpkin pie babies with nut butter?!? or peanut butter/banana/coconut pumpkin pie babies??…the opportunites are endless

  23. Hope says

I definately would be making some raw mac’s…. definitely one of my favorite desserts! Or almond joy fuge babies…

  24. Hannah says

I have been drooling over your raw macaroon and almond joy babies, so I would definitely try those out if I got my hands on some of that coconut butter.

  25. Greta says

I think I would fall into the straight-outta-the-jar category 🙂

but also, I have been dying to make some of the fudge babies and almond joy babies… I really want to bring a raw dessert for Christmas this year, and I think those would be a massive hit!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  26. Claire says

I would use the coconut butter in banana oatmeal. Of course I would ‘melt’ the banana first, and prolly have to add some of that cocao bliss! Super YUM!

I just made my first batch of Babies yesterday and these nut butters would def. go into some experiements with those tasty nibbles!

  27. Keegan says

No question, my first thing would be some coconut babies!! I’ve been drooling over them since you first posted, there’d be no excuse not to then!

  28. Lori says

I would use the coconut butter to make macaroon babies and the other nut butters would either be on top of my oats or eaten straight off a spoon!!

  29. Elise says

I would definitely make the raw Mounds – perhaps turning them into Almond Joys! I also love using coconut oil in baking and thai stir fries or curries, would love to see how coconut butter would fare in those as well. Or in my morning oatmeal! Oh boy, excited.

  30. Jen says

I would make the raw Mounds with Almonds for my sister – those were her FAV chocolate bars growing up. Perfect stocking stuffer

  31. Streuselmama says

I’ve never tried Artisana, and most of the butters included in the giveaway are entirely new to me. I would probably sample some of them straight from the jar! (Hellllloooo cacao bliss!) Then make macaroon babies, add it to my morning oatbran…I really think the list could go on and on and on and on!

  32. Rachel says

I would definitely be enjoying a spoonful a day of coconut butter =) so simple and delicious. And I would also try out some of your macaroon babies…and cookie dough babies, and all the other yummy recipes here. mmmm.

  33. Katie says

I have been really interested in experimenting with coconut oil! I would try substituting coconut oil in some of my favorite vegan desserts! I would also try the mounds bars adding almonds!!!!!!!!!

  34. Metta says

I would probably eat the macadamia nut butter straight from the jar. I’d like to try making raw chocolate with the coconut butter, and eat the coconut oil on top of a baked sweet potato.

  35. Cellabella says

I would definitely use the nut butters in my oatmeal and for sandwiches. Oh, and for dipping in a spoonful and eating it straight like that!

  36. Chez says

Oh man, macademia nut butter sounds amazing! But I’ve heard great things about cooking with coconut oil, I’d love to try it!! Maybe a veggie stir fry to start things off?!!

  37. Teresa says

I have so many uses for these butters swirling around in my head (sauces, treats, dips, w/ fruit, plain….), but mostly I want to share them with my family so they can taste the deliciousness of nutritious raw nut butters! Especially my little brother who will only eat peanut butter and even then he “prefers” skip and jiffy because they are “real” peanut butter. I just know I could win him over with these nut butters and the raw goodies I would create.

  38. Stephanie says

How would I eat them? Straight out of the jar. And on toast. And in grains. And with dates. And as frosting. And I’d eat other things out of the jar, HEAB style. And made into a sauce served over vegetables. And in Averie’s peanut butter cups, but with cashew butter. And. And…

  39. Diana says

Haha, the person above me has the same answer as me: straight outta the jar! I guess I might try to restrain myself and put it on toast…

  40. Maibritt says

The lovely nut butters would join me on my journey back to my home in Denmark. They would sure make a nice addition to the rice pudding we always get for Christmas. Instead of the traditional topping of cinnamon, sugar, and butter I’m imagining a spoonful of coconut butter, lots of cinnamon and a swirl of runny honey. Yum-o! Can’t think of a better marriage between Danish traditional cooking and American heaven-in-a-jar.

  41. Aimee says

I would love to try some of these (and other) raw recipes using coconut butters. They look so completely decadent. I just got Ani’s Raw Desserts…which looks amazing, too. Can’t wait to try them!

  42. maren says

oh my gosh my mouth is watering haha! well ive tried the coconut butter and i love it mixed with banana soft serve and almond butter!!! but id eat the other nut butters plain as well, with a spoon! so delicious

  43. Carolyn says

I can think of so many ways to use these- baked into cookies, mixed into raw homemade larabars… but i would most likely drop a huge spoonful into my oatmeal every morning! thanks katie!

  44. Dori says

If I could stop myself from eating the whole jar with a spoon, I’d make a raw nutter and banana sandwich. I LOVE them!!

  45. Kristin says

I have never had a a nut butter other than peanut butter and coconut butter and coconut oil are so rare to find in my small town that I haven’t tried them either so there would be much experimenting! I think the first thing I would do is to have a big spoonful of each 😉

  46. Carla says

I have this divine cookie recipe which uses nut butter, so I’d love toexperimetn with different types to see which I like best!

  47. Heather Marie says

I would love to spread any and probably all these nut butters on toast as well as use them for homemade larabars. Mmm….delicious.

  48. Julie says

I’ve been reading so much about the Artisana products, I think before I do anything fancy, I’d first like to try them all, straight-up!

  49. Emily says

This recipe is awesome, but I think I’d have to add almond extract and maybe some orange zest! Can’t wait to try them!

  50. Brooke says

yuuummm. This would be so yummy in a peanut butter sandwich…. or on toast…. or alone! 😀 I really hope I win@ I have been craving something coconutty and delicious!

  51. caroline m says

i make my own granola bars and i’m sure adding some of these nut butters would make them even more delectable! maybe even a bit in my fruit shakes! mmm!

  52. LZ says

With all that wonderful nut butter, I’d probably make nut-butter filled chocolate cups! Or anything with a mix of nut butter/dates/cocoa powder…YUM!!

  53. Charlotte says

If I were to win the giveaway, I would use the prize to live in Fudge Baby dipper heaven. Dippin’ the babies in the different spreads…deliciocity overload.

  54. Lindsay says

Coconut Butter is one of my ALL TIME favorite ingredients. I have a million uses for this amazing & delicious treat, a few of which include: spelt biscuits (to make the batter and coat before baking), vegan pie crusts (and a little bit to my vegan fruit fillings too!); cacao-coconut truffles (raw and YUM); as the oil to saute veggies for my vegan coconut-cauliflower curry; and… given that it’s cold and dry outside I may even rub some on my skin for extra hydration!

The Cashew, Cacao, and Macadamia Butters will be EQUALLY used and enjoyed – mostly for baking and creating raw treats (especially that Cacao Bliss… mmm!). But they are also excellent additions to smoothies, sandwiches, and good to dip fruit in too. YUM YUM YUM!

  55. Kelly W. says

Wow! I would make raw oatmeal nut butter raisin cookies with 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/2 cup dates, 2 T. nut butter, 1/4 cup raisins all blended in the food processor!

  56. Andrea says

I would definitely try making the mounds bar with this!! I LOVE coconut… I would also try it in my morning oat bran. Yummy! 🙂

  57. Carrie H says

I think I’d eat it straight from the jar! Then, I’d think of some way to eat it that was a little less embarrassing … 😉

  58. Jordan says

I would use the nut butters, like so many others, in my oats! As well as on sandwiches, with fruit, and of course straight out of the jar! I’ve been wanting to dry Cacao Bliss for a long time…they all sound incredible!

  59. Hayley H says

First, I would take a spoon and sample each one. Obviously! Gotta get a feel for my new tools. Then I think I would get straight to work on some Fudge babies, which I’ve been dreaming about for quite awhile now.

  60. Chelsea says

If I won the give-away, I used make raw macaroons. For sure! I’d also love to experiment with trying new things with the coconut butter. Maybe adding some to Gena’s (at Choosing Raw) banana soft serve. Yum…

  61. Blair says

Definitely a splash of butter in the morning oats, but obviously my first use would have to be for whipping up a batch of the babies!!

  62. Michelle says

I would make raw cookies with some, and eat the nut butters with a little (or a lot) chocolate or on toast. YUM!

    Thanks!

  63. Jess says

I love nut butters on my oatmeal. I have it every morning and it’s so delicious. I’ve never tried artisana before! excited about the getaway!

  64. Rachel says

Hmm if I were to win I’d totally jump on one of your fudge baby recipes, except I’d probably mess up in the process! In the mornings I always have such a hard time thinking of good, healthy breakfasts that will keep my brain going at college, I would probably put some on a whole grain waffle or toast with 100% fruit spread…and some more fruit of course. I’m a fruit freak.

Or I’d just eat them off of a spoon because that’s the cool way to do it . . . if I love it enough I’ll marry them, to quote the famous philosopher Pee Wee Herman: “If you love it so much why don’t you marry it?”

  65. esther you says

If I won the nut butters, I would would put it to good use by making these raw macaroons and the different fudge/cocoa babies recipes that are posted on your site for my family. I’ve trying to adopt a more vegan/raw food lifestyle to take better care of my health and I want to get my family to do the same. They are a bit skeptical but I think the nut butters and some time spent in the kitchen working on these awesome recipes will do the trick! 🙂

  66. Jenny says

I so really want to try to raw macaroons and and bars. I would use the butters to make me a big batch. I made the pumpkin pie babies last night. Have to admit I am in love. This was my first raw recipe. I might be converted!! After trying the pumpkin pie babies last night I wrote the recipes down for other babies. I clicked on the link to see the nut butters that was listed and planned to order some. However the price is too hefty for my budget. I order a lot of finds from websites since I live in the sticks and don’t have a lot of options around me 🙁 I enjoy your blog and read it daily.

    I hope I win!!!

  67. stephanie says

Gosh, nut butta is gooood on anything. I’ve never tried Artisana brand before, but i can tell that they are just heaven in the mouth!!! I’m thinkin right now I’d like to mix the butters with pasta, mmmmmm. Can anyone say chocolate pasta. Drool…..Anyway, I be dreaming up some more ideas tonight as I sleep. Oh, oh on pineapple too..hmmmm 🙂

  68. Sarah says

If I won these, I would try them in just about every way- how can you go wrong with coconut?! But I would definitely have to make some of those raw Mounds bars, for sure. YUM.

  69. Pris says

Ever since you started making raw desserts I’ve been wanting to try them! all of them! so I’d probably go for that first. Afterwards, who knows? I might end up experimenting 😉

  70. Kyle says

I’d probably use these butters to add some character to my banana smoothies. Nothing like a good butter to liven up a banana-soymilk smoothie!

  71. Jennifer R. says

I would love to win all the nut butters — I would use them in oatmeal and also make some yummy raw treats for my 3 kids — they would LOVE them 🙂 Thanks so much for an awesome giveaway!!

  72. sham says

I would like to use the nut butters to make fudge babies and also would just have plain ole’ spoonfuls of the nut butters :)…..so good!

  73. Jessica says

If I won your contest, I would make some of your creations, but I would also make clean eating fudge. And clean eating nut butter fudge. The fudge consists of 3 ingredients, coconut oil, maple syrup or agave nectar, and cocoa! But now I’m thinking of adding nut butter and nuts. YUMMY! I could eat the coconut oil with a spoon 😉 Have a great day!!!

  74. lindsey says

i would definitely use the nut butters for desserts (aka every kind of chocolate-covered dessert there is!) fudge babies anyone?!

it would be great, since i have a dairy intolerance, its hard to find desserts i can indulge in!

  75. Melissa says

These look fantastic! I love coconut butter and think making your own Larabars is a great idea- I’m gonna give these a try tomorrow AND the Coconut peanut banana butter too!

  76. Tyler says

Honestly it doesn’t take much for me to enjoy nut butters! I’ll eat them out of the jar, or dip celery or carrot sticks in them. I’ll put them on my homemade gluten-free breads (I’m gluten intolerant) or whip up a creamy dessert. There’s nothing I can’t do with nut butter, or that coconut oil!

  77. Gannon says

I love coconut and pineapple so I’d make some pina colada “fudge” babies, maybe with a little lime zest thrown in

  78. cassidy says

mmmm.. The macadamia & cashew butters would be divine in oatmeal or with breakfast quinoa! And of course, this would be an amazing supply of butters to make all kinds of babies! Babies Galore! <3

  79. Vandana says

i would make a big fat wrap with lots of salad greens and a dollop of the cashew butter (FIRST) (but then i’d like to give all of them a fair chance) and then add in hummus, honey, olives, some cherry tomatoes…some mushrooms too, now that i think of it…some goat cheese too.

  80. Gaby says

I don’t even know where to start! There are way too many options. I love cashew butter simply spread on toast or good bread, or mixed into oatmeal. It’s really good with exotic jellies like my guava, or the latest addition from world market- orange ginger 🙂
I’d have to make some coconut babies of course and then just try it on toast or with cereals too. I use coconut oil for baking (though I have to admit to trying it with a spoon numerous times :X)
I think the cacao bliss could be mixed with my orange ginger jelly to make some amazing choco orange babies! :0!!
Ok well I’ll stop before I get carried away with all the great recipes I’ll invent.

    Hope I win! 😀

  81. Marie says

Oh, nut butters! I would put them in my oatmeal (yum), and then I would probably just eat them off a spoon until I remembered that I really (really) want to try to make some mounds bar babies. They look so delicious!

  82. Mari B says

I would be eating those nut butters on ezekial toast with a cut up banana, in my oatmeal with cocoa powder, as a dip for apples and carrots and most definitly will be making your Fudge Babies and Peanut Butter Babies and the Pina Colada Babies and all the other ones I have bookmarked 🙂

  83. craftykatieeats says

I would like to say I’d do all sorts of creative things with the artisana butters, but I’d probably just eat them straight out of the jar or on toast. Maybe in a smoothie if I were feeling really feisty.

  84. Kyle says

Honestly, I’d probably just eat the nut butters with a spoon. But to get fancy, I’d mix it with cereal and a chopped apple. My fav type of crunchy/fruity parfait 🙂

  85. Ellen says

i’d love to try those macaroons! and i would also eat them with my oatmeal in the morning, or drizzled over coconut milk ice cream… yum.

  86. Heather says

I’ve been eyeing these butters for a while but they’re a little expensive. I’d like to add them to my oatmeal 🙂

  87. Anne says

I would use most of these as oatbran and oatmeal toppers. i would also use the nut butters as stir fry toppers. mmmmmmmmm

  88. Erin says

How would I use this stuff? In my daily morning bowl of oats, slathered on apples, straight off the spoon (my favorite bedtime snack), drizzled on roasted veggies and fruit, probably more off the spoon than I would like to admit…

    All the items look amazing!

  89. erin says

If I won the giveaway, I would definitely give your raw macaroons a try! And I’m also intrigued with using coconut oil as a beauty product.. 😀

  90. Celestial says

oh I would definitely make some macaroons with that coco butter as I am redic. addicted to CCP larabars! and I would use all those amazing nut butters to top my oats and dip my apples in! mmm

  91. Michelle says

if I win the artisana giveaway I plan to slather the nut butters all over bananas and apples, and maybe even eat some straight out of the container!

  92. Kayla says

    If I won….

Okay, I’m super excited about this contest! I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now, and have been dying to try this coconut butter stuff (but, being a poor college student I can’t afford that right now, ha).

So, If I won, I would put all of those yummy jars to good use! Coconut infused oatmeal, cashew covered bananas, macadamia oatmeal with chocolate and bananas, coconut mac. bars, all of that together with oats sounds amazing too 😉

    Yummm….

  93. Kelsa says

I’m in love with homemade bread toasted with nut butters and a banana! Spice it up with some cinnamon or drizzled agave on top. Another way I’d use the nut butters is in my morning oatmeal!!! MMMMMmmmm…:)

  94. Jessica says

If I won the Artisana giveaway I would be so exicted! I just discovered them via your blog, but have not tried them yet. I LOVE coconut oil and nut butters so I know that I would like these a lot. I am getting kind of tired of peanut butter, so something new would be fun.

If I won, I would use them to make Macaroon Babies ASAP. I would also use them on toasted wheat bread, pancakes, bananas, muffins, oatmeal, and icecream!! I am drooling just thinking about making a Cacao Bliss Sundae – SO Delicious Icecream + LOTS of Cacao Bliss!!

  95. Marie says

If I won the give away (fingers crossed!) I would be all over those Macaroon babies. They look amazing! and if they’re related to your others babies, I know they’ll be super good!

  96. Caitlin says

I LOVE coconut and cashew butter on cereals, especially oats, kashi, and muesli. Makes a great breakfast or on-the-go dinner! I’d love the cacao butter on apples or pears, too.
I’ve only ever tried the cashew butter I’ve made, and I love Artisana coconut butter – It would be great to try their cashew and see how mine measures up!

  97. DanaMc says

Wow, honestly, I think for the nut butters, I might just go with straight toast.

    Might sound boring…
but the thought behind it is I want to taste the nut butter for itself. Savor it, you know?

    I’d love to win.

  98. Mandy A. says

I would definitely make your macaroons. If I don’t win, I might just have to buy my own and make them anyway, because they look so good and easy to do!

  99. haylee says

How I would use the Nut butters if I won? You can put Coconut and Nut Butters on ANYTHING!!! I would probably make up some Samoan cookie thing with them, on bananas, or try a crazy new concoction, Kabocha anyone?

  100. Kaysie says

I will be making me some babies with that nut butter! and I’m not prejudiced… every baby will have their turn finding their way to mama’s tummy. I’ve been reading your blog for the past month or so and have yet to make a baby! My husband is coming home from a work trip tomorrow so maybe I will give him a lesson in making babies! Dessert, that is! 😉

  101. Ariela says

If I win the nut butters I will:
-Add over flowing spoon fulls to my morning oats to power me up for Pilates classes.
-Add them to nanner/spinach/hemp milk/flax smoothies.
-Eat them with sliced apples and nanners as I dash from class to class.
-Eat plain spoon fulls for when that midnight hunger that always seems to hit comes.
-Try out some amazing new raw recipes from your blog!

    Thanks for the chance Katie!

  102. elaine says

omigosh i am dying to eat them with oatmeal! i see all these wonderful pictures of oatmeal art and i can’t wait to make my own bowl! i know for sure it’s going to include dark chocolate, banana and hopefully some nut butter!!

  103. Jessica says

How would we eat our new yummy nut butters? Well, our favorite is spread over cinnamon bread, smeared with banana butter (great idea by the way) and topped with some chocolate and raisins…totally yummy! Then there is of course our morning oatmeal…and smeared between two halves of banana, used as a dip, oh…and we’d probably go to sleep with it too! hehehheee! 🙂

  104. Iris says

Mmm…nut butters…truly, is there anything better? I’m a big fan of eating them by the spoonful, but I really want to try those raw macaroons!

  105. Erika says

once again you’ve come up with an awesome recipe. i used to love mounds bars as a kid, but since going vegan, i kinda gave up on them. can’t wait to try these 🙂

  106. Jen says

Neat! Dates, though? Are those like figs or raisins?!
Anyhoodle, I am seriously looking forward to winning the coconut butter, macadamia, and cashew butters…all of it.
We are on limited diets here, and I’m also looking to cut the starches out of my life. I need some safe butters that we can eat to help substitute for what we don’t eat.

  107. Janice says

A couple of weeks ago I made my first batch of Almond Butter Pumpkin ‘brownies’ and they were so good. I would love to experiment with other squash purees and nut butters!

  108. kathleen m says

i would love to make anything in your “baby-family” hahaha. especially since santa is brining me my 1st food processor, it would be perfect timing 🙂

  109. Michelle says

So if I won these nut butters, first of all my oatmeal would get a whole new plethora of makeovers! Second, my options of babies would increase … hmmm … third, I would make a killer NutellaBU (HEAB) and (enter any nut butter won) sandwich! Fourth, My fruit would have a new nutty or coconutty twist! Fifth, have you ever tried this stuff over popcorn?
So many things I’d like to try! Enter me enter me!! 🙂 And Thanks for doing cool giveaways like this!! 🙂

  110. Jenna H says

i’d make fudge babies and use them as oatmeal toppers. i’d also eat them plain (read: my favorite way to eat nut butters!) or slathered on a honeycrisp!

  111. Olivia says

I would obviously use all the nut butters in my morning oatmeal. I’ve drooled over bloggers’ oatmeal with cacao bliss way too many times. MMm.

  112. Carolyn says

After taste testing everyone of those jars, I’d start mixing the butters into lots of baby flavors! I think I also need to drizzle some over my morning flax waffle with cooked apples. Mmmmm

  113. emi s. says

If I win those nut butter, I’ll be making some coconut babies and fudge babies and coconut babies and cashew babies and coconut babies and also some coconut babies.

can you tell i love coconut? i’m dying to try the coconut butter especially! it looks amazing.

  114. kira says

if i win those nut butters i would make a humongous sandwich with coconut butter spreaded on both sides of 100% wholegrain bread, then a sliced banana, 85% lindt exellence dark chocolate over it then crushed almonds or walnuts then put it all together and place it into a to a sandwich press and toast it until dark chocolate is all melted and the coconut butter is oozing out! yumm!

  115. sharon says

I think I would try my hand at some creative asian stir fry sauces. I love peanut sauce, but i have a hunch that cashew sauce with pad thai noodles would be rich and delicious!

  116. Corinne says

If I got the coconut butters, I’d whip up some recipes with…

    Coconut-orange macaroons
    or
    Coconut-vanilla macaroons

how wouldn’t I use these nut butters??! definitely to make some baking and “babies.” and eaten off a spoon…in smoothies…on apples…

  121. Laura says

The first thought that comes to me is deffinately just to eat straight out of the jar 🙂 LOL but I would also love to try the Raw Vegan Macaroons!

  122. Emilie says

If I won the nut butters, I would eat them on toasted baguette (mmm!), try making no-bake cocoa-oat-nut butter cookies, and blend them with fruit in smoothies!

  123. Caitlin says

mmm I love coconut! I need to make these babies NOW! And as part of your vita-mix giveaway, I would definitely try my hand at some sort of piña colada ice cream 🙂

  124. Carolyn says

These macaroon babies are my favorite, though I’ve never been able to make them the “true” way with coconut butter… just a smidge of coconut oil. Anyway, for your Vitamix giveaway – I’d use mine for lots of green monster smoothies. So yummy and very healthy!

Thanks Katie, keep doing what you’re doing!:)

  125. Vandana says

  132. Anne says

These sound delicious! I would love to try, but cannot find Artisana anywhere! I like to try things before I order them online, so this would be a great opportunity for me! I love coconut and macaroons, and this is a healthier way to have a treat!

  133. Lauren says

These look so good- I love Artisana coconut butter! It actually makes everything better, and I agree with you that it tastes like shortbread. I love that it is also 100% whole food, raw coconut with nothing added or taken away. If I can get my hands on some coconut butter, I will definitely be making your raw macaroons.

  134. Melissa says

I finally got a jar of Coconut Butter and I’ve been wanting to make these…
too bad I almost have EATEN THE WHOLE JAR. SOB. I also have taken to just eating it straight up. Soooo good. I’ve been making butternut squash fries lately, though, and wonder about eating them with the butter on like you do. Hrm. I typically do kosher salt and fresh ground pepper for savory fries… but cinnamon/nutmeg sprinkled fries with coconut butter sounds good too!

I hope I win the jar since mine is almost gone. The horror!

  135. Sara says

Yum, those look amazing! I love coconut, but I’ve never tried coconut butter before. Crazy, I know. 🙂 I would love to win your Artisana Giveaway Katie!

  136. Diana says

YUM! I haven’t tried Artisana Coconut Butter yet, so I would love to win!! I never really cared for regular macaroons, but these look divine! All the other “babies” I’ve tried have been totally delicious so I am sure that these would be too. 🙂

  142. Chrissy says

I would LOVE to win the coconut butter because 1. I LOOOOOVE coconut, 2. I’m too poor to actually order anything from Artisana, 3. I *tried* to make homemade coconut butter a while ago and I no longer have a food processor….she’s buried in the back yard now 🙁 4. Did I mention I love coconut?

If I won I would make these babies right away!

  143. Isabella V says

New vegan here (after many years vegetarian), so happy to have found this site and learned ways to continue indulging in my beloved sweets! Thanks ~Adela

  151. Sünne says

Though it’s really hard to choose, I pick these macarons as the coconut butter-involving recipe that sounds best to me. And to be honest, I’d be someone to eat the coconut butter straigt up, too, I think. Well, only that I never had a chance to try it so far seeing as it’s not available in Germany.

  152. Linda Dias says

I have heard of the Vita Mix for over 20 years now, and being diabetic (stuck from pregnancies) I would ‘go green’ and make healthy green drinks first! Then on to other healthy foods and recipes as I am going vegan now.

  153. Kerrin E says

I LOVE the sound of the macaroon babies…a sweet sound to a pregnant woman looking for alternatives to high sugar processed foods.

White Birch Holistics is a new community supporting families with holistic and green living. Our site is currently being constructed, however we have big plans. Our first project Is a community cookbook and holistic nutrition fair. is like to chat and see if you would be interested in working together on some proour projects together.

My family is in desperate need of a vitamix, have I successfully entered the contest?

  154. Kapri says

Wow! I am sooo impressed and delighted re: the macaroons, but, I am allergic to a million things. So if I follow the recipe w/o chopped nuts, is this totally nut free? Also, since you seem genious on raw and vegan, have you come across a peanut(or any nut for that matter) butter subsitute? I want to try the peanut butter babies but cannot even look at a nut w/o being sick.. Does anyone have a suggestion? It would be so very appreciated!
    You Rock! Thank you,
    Kapri

      • Kapri says

Thank you so much for your reply. The coconut butter tastes alot like coconut? Dumb question, im sure it does…… I just want to make something that tastes like chocolate peanutbutter. Oh do I miss that combo! Do you think coconut butter could taste like peanutbutter?
