Your time to shine… and Borat be gone!

by Chocolate-Covered Katie on December 3, 2009

As I’ve written before, it’s always super-exciting when someone makes a chocolate-covered recipe (especially since others add their own flair to the recipes, making them even better than the originals!). So every now and then I try to write a tribute post to honor all the awesome bloggers and readers out there that have made me so happy. But it’s hard to keep track of all the posts and photos, and I don’t want to leave anyone out. Therefore…

I’m going to try something new: Once every few weeks or so, I’ll do a tribute post, featuring anyone who wants their wonderfulness to be extolled on the blog.  I want to show off others’ creations, not just my own.

All you have to do is:
Either send me a photo of your creation or a link to where you blogged about it (if you send a link, you don’t need to send a photo).  Then, I’ll feature you and include a link to your blog if you have one.  You can either leave a comment on a blog post or email me at veggieprincess@msn.com.

Speaking of recipes…

I finally got around to organizing the recipe page, which was in serious need of some updates.

Recipes now added include:

Chocolate Mudslide Oatmeal

.

Cozy Kuzu Stew

pt2

.

.

Pumpkin Pie Salad Dressing

.

.

Stir Fry Salads

pt3

.

.

Pumpkin Pie Babies

pt4

And yesterday’s Banana Hammocks

Oops!!!  Wrong Banana Hammock!

.

.

That’s better ;)

Will the real Banana Hammocks please stand up?

Go away, Borat.  You scare people!

.

Gosh, it feels good to be organized.

Question of the Day:

Are you an organized person?  I actually am very organized, even though the opposite seems true from looking at my exploding school binders and notes.  One of my teachers classified me as “Disorganizedly organized,” because I have junk everywhere, but if you ask me to find something, I know exactly where it is.  I just don’t bother to waste the time making it look pretty and organized ;) .

Haha, love your teachers comment! I think the smartest people tend to be those who’ve got the most “unorganized” looking folders but find everything at once.
I, however, am really unorganized … um … where did I leave that paper for the politics class again???

And thanks for your mail! I’ll let you know when I post there again!

I wonder if I can add real mudslide mix to that oatmeal. It would make sore an interesting morning, for sure. :)

Can’t wait to try the Pumpkin Babies… as for being organized… I’m either very very organized or things are a complete and utter mess… it’s one of the things I don’t like about myself.. this either this or that.. really need to find balance!

I’m a combo when it comes to organization.

I crazy organnized in some areas and a mess in others… need to work on that ;)

“I” think I’m organized. My friends think I’m uber organized. My MOM…she thinks I’m a mess :) Well, not a mess, but if you went to her house there is NEVER anything out of place. She has a place for everything.

I know though, in my life, if life is chaotic and unorganized (by my standards) then things start to spiral for me. I need a sense of order, cleanliness, organization. Sometimes you just gotta take a step back to get things done before you can move forward!

I’m really organized…I’m almost too anal about it, lol! I like to over-prepare!

Katie December 3, 2009 at 4:19 pm

I’m the same way and I’m told it’s not a real condition it’s really just laziness. I beg to differ cleaning just isn’t high on my to do lists!

In your honour and inspired by you, I had chocolate porridge this morning – sooo delish. I just added some hot chocolate powder to my normal porridge mix – which includes gooey banana…. but starting the day with chocolate was not a good idea – I had to get someone in my office to hide my chocolate advent calendar before I ate my way to xmas….

But I shall satisfy my chocolate cravings tonight (or probably just make myself sick) am having a dinner party and made the ULTIMATE chocolate cake… hmmmm on second thoughts might just cancel the party and have it to myself!

Ha ha – re the disorganisation, you could be describing me. My office desk is OVERFLOWING with paper, but ask me for a specific document and I will put it out like magic from beneath a pile of others…
My mum used to alway get mad and tell me to clean my messy bedroom – but I always said, its not REAL mess, its SUPERFICIAL mess….!!!

I love that you don’t feel you NEED to make everything “look pretty” good for you!

and yes…borat is SCARY!
:)

still drooooooooling over that coconut stash !!!

oh how I adore those products!

(oh and we are pretty organized around our parts) it’s just us. we need things clutter free or we get antsy!

Okay, it is way too early in the day for that Borat picture!

Definitely organized on the surface, but cluttered in my head!

hey girl!! Love the post. I’m somewhat organized. Its pretty frightening but I try to organize everything in my head, ha! But then I sometimes forget so I don’t think my method is working out too well. I try to stay as organized as I can but Im still working on it=)

Have a fabulous day!!

My mouth legitimately started watering after seeing the chocolate mudslide oatmeal photo. Wowza. I’m like you–I know where everything is, but I know it appears disorganized to everyone else. Hey, it’s worked for me so far!

Awww Katie your sweet and generous nature never stops impressing me! You are such a kind hearted person, your friends and family are so lucky to have you in their lives. And WE are lucky to, just reading about your thoughtful ideas (Operation Chocolate Covered Kindness and now this sweet way to do tributes to your readers) always makes me smile.

But right now I’m just SO hungry – I NEED a bowl of that chocolate mudslide oatmeal! Ohhhh my goodness!

And NO. I am not an organized person AT ALL. I have my notes from work as well as my recipes scattered in about 4 or 5 different notebooks which I am always misplacing, I can’t keep track of anything, and I never know where my keys are. I used to think I should try to fix this unfortunate trait of mine, but now I just realize that is me, I’ve done fine for the past 27 years, so why fix it now? ;-)

baahahahaa that borat pic is too much!!! love it :) I think I will take the REAL banana mhammock though! :)

Melissa December 3, 2009 at 5:21 pm

lol I’m pretty much the same when it comes to organization, I like to think of my style as “organized chaos” meaning…i’m the only one who understands the methods to my madness/can ever find anything I’m looking for. My mom just thinks I’m crazy lol but it works for me :)

P.s. pics are up of the pudding I made as a tribute to your choco covered pudding recipe!

have an awesome day!

No more banana hammocks please!

Those pumpkin pie babies look scrumptious! Thanks for sharing your recipes; they are so inventive! That’s funny that your teacher classifies you as “disorganizedly organized”–it’s convenient to always know exactly where everything is. That’s sort of how my clothing collection is! I have drawers of clothing that overflows into bags that sit in a corner of my room, and it’s a lot of stuff, but if I have to find a particular tank top, for example, I’ll be able to locate it in very little time!

Great idea! I actually made the Cashew Cookie Larabar babies last night for today’s Raw Food Day. I added cinnamon, and they taste very much like a Cinnamon Roll Larabar! Thanks!
I’ll send you the link after I post.

And I missed yesterday’s Banana Hammock….but that looks so good! I may have to try that very soon!

I was sooo organized until I got married. Everything had its place. Now everything still has its place…it’s just all covered in CD’s socks. :)

Seeing all your recipes always makes me want to drive down to Texas and eat at your house. Would you mind. No worries, I won’t leave my socks everywhere.

I’m FAIRLY organized. Becoming less organized the older I get, though (and I’m not old…hmmm!)

Your pumpkin dressing looks uhhhmazing! Great pics!

I’m ostensibly organized. Everything looks neat and in place… but all my junk is stowed away into cabinets and stuff. *cough* Oh, and I lose things pretty easily, but I’ve been improving, mostly because I’ve been actively trying NOT to be absentminded. lol.

Nice post. I am really not organized and it does bother me quite a bit. I am very scattered. Artisana products are great. I like to buy them if I see them, but they are so expensive , so their brand name is certainly a treat.

My OCD compels me to finish cleaning once I’ve started…so sometimes I turn a blind eye (and it eats away at my very soul) and other times I tidy up and clean for hours (thoroughly exhausting and exhaustingly thorough). It’s not all bad, though. I do create these awesomely organized and detailed study guides for my courses that everyone wants a piece of : )

Chocolate mudslide oatmeal has such a nice ring to it. We’re having a huge batch for breakfast tomorrow!

Whoa. That first banana hammock was quite . . . ah . . . well, let’s just say I’ll pass, even if it does come covered in chocolate. 8|

Anyhoo, I’m excited about this — next time I make a recipe (I already scarfed all of the fudge babies I made the other day!), I’ll photograph and blog and submit!

A note — I tried making fudge babies with dried apricots and sliced almonds instead of dates and walnuts (I had run out). Just an FYI to tell you that this is nowhere NEAR as good as the date variety. Ah well…experimenting was fun, at least!

I love adding cacao powder to my oatmeal. It’s just like eating a brownie!
This morning, I microwaved the chocolate fudge-baby larabar that I made, and it turned a bit cripsy at the edges – which made it taste better than anything in the world!!!!!!!!!!! I cut those in smaller pieces and ate with greek yogurt and kashi. Seriously, microwaving was a new discovery today. (Although my mom keeps saying microwaves are bad for you)
