As I wrote in my Slave to the Scale post, there are so many advantages to using a digital kitchen scale over measuring cups.
Quick Recap:
Measuring in grams gives a much more precise amount. For example, a cup of dates is a very vague measurement: there’s a big difference between a loosely-packed cup of dates and one that is jam-packed. And in many recipes, things like this wouldn’t matter… but sometimes such discrepancies can throw off an entire recipe. Conversely, 80 grams of dates is 80 grams of dates, no matter how you look at it.
Also, measuring with a food scale means fewer cups to have to clean up. I don’t know about you, but doing dishes is one of my least favorite parts of cooking, so fewer dirty cups = happier CCV

Carrot cake pizza? GENIUS!
Yum…can’t wait to hear more about the carrot cake pizza!! It looks delicious.
The carrot-cake pizza slices!! That reminds me of the dessert pizzas some places have – I bet these are deeeelicious. I can’t wait till your next post! How’s everything in Texas by the way? My mom’s friend that lives in Texas is actually coming to Florida around Christmas. You should pack yourself in her suitcase
Hey I got your email..I’ve just been really really sick lately and haven’t gotten to write back! Thank you for the recipes!
Maggie
PS: Carrot cake pizza….shut up!
Mmmm normally I like my pizza savory and topped with lots of onions and garlic but with this I might make an exception. Looks scrumptious, Katie!
Oh Katie, that carrot cupcake pizza is so cute.
I agree that weight measurements are far more accurate, and kudos to you for doing so. Me? Well, I cannot afford to buy scales…plus my own personal fit is not to be too obsessive or worried over it, so I just let it “be”. But I totally respect those that do. Every one is a different snowflake and has their different reasons
Yay~ I’m always excited for new recipes!
Actually, pretty excited about the tips, too. I’m not much of a runner, but I do like walking a lot and I’ve gotten into jogging, too. =X
best pizza pie ever – I vote Dominoes hires you stat!
p.s. your giveaway is a blastie
<3!
so much love to you pumpkin! xo
Carrot cake pizza?! Whoa! That sounds awesome! I think I’ll enter the giveaway too…I have old-school un-digitable kitchen scale that I never use because it sucks.
That pizza looks so, so good!
That looks Delish Katie! GENIUS!
I’m very curious about the cold weather running tips, also how do you stretch your shins? I’ve recently started to incorporate more jogging into my walks to ‘become a runner’ and today my shins hurt a bit, trying to figure out how stretch those out.
entry for the food scale!
Looks yum! And ooo a scale! *want* the dish thing kills me in my little apt – in fact I have a(nother) stack waiting for me.
yay for the without a microwave part!!
Katie,
Why you gotta leave us hangin? I MUST have that pizza recipe…as well as the pancake one.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…GENIUS!!!
Carrot Cake Pizza?! Omgggg
Carrot cake pizza sounds absolutely amazing!
Ahh I’m counting down the days until you post the recipe so I can make my own wedges of carrot cake!!
And what do you consider cold weather running, Miss Texas? Hahaha Jk
I’m confused, but I’d love a scale
Hope this enters me! (I know I know…TWSS)
oh! I want the scale really badly. Seriously, I want to make more of your recipes…such as cupcakes and more homemade larabars (I find them more delicious than commercial ones) but it’s really hard to find the exact amount without a scale.
Me thinks this would be good with gingerbread. I love anything in the shape ofwedges. Too much fun!
I <3 your creativity!!!
