Win an EatSmart Kitchen Scale so you can make 24-Carrot Cake… pizza???

by Chocolate-Covered Katie on December 14, 2009

As I wrote in my Slave to the Scale post, there are so many advantages to using a digital kitchen scale over measuring cups.

Quick Recap:

Measuring in grams gives a much more precise amount.  For example, a cup of dates is a very vague measurement: there’s a big difference between a loosely-packed cup of dates and one that is jam-packed.  And in many recipes, things like this wouldn’t matter… but sometimes such discrepancies can throw off an entire recipe.  Conversely, 80 grams of dates is 80 grams of dates, no matter how you look at it.

Also, measuring with a food scale means fewer cups to have to clean up.  I don’t know about you, but doing dishes is one of my least favorite parts of cooking, so fewer dirty cups = happier CCV :) .

.

Mmmm normally I like my pizza savory and topped with lots of onions and garlic but with this I might make an exception. Looks scrumptious, Katie!

Oh Katie, that carrot cupcake pizza is so cute.
I agree that weight measurements are far more accurate, and kudos to you for doing so. Me? Well, I cannot afford to buy scales…plus my own personal fit is not to be too obsessive or worried over it, so I just let it “be”. But I totally respect those that do. Every one is a different snowflake and has their different reasons :)

Actually, pretty excited about the tips, too. I’m not much of a runner, but I do like walking a lot and I’ve gotten into jogging, too. =X

I’m very curious about the cold weather running tips, also how do you stretch your shins? I’ve recently started to incorporate more jogging into my walks to ‘become a runner’ and today my shins hurt a bit, trying to figure out how stretch those out.

oh! I want the scale really badly. Seriously, I want to make more of your recipes…such as cupcakes and more homemade larabars (I find them more delicious than commercial ones) but it’s really hard to find the exact amount without a scale. :(
