.
Thanks for all the feedback on the vitamins/supplement post yesterday.
People often mistakenly think that it’s difficult to be a healthy vegetarian; that you need to worry about counting up the amounts of certain minerals and vitamins that you get each day in order to ensure you get enough.
This is simply NOT true!
.
Speaking of vitamins and supplements… a few months ago, I got an email from a sender “I-herb.” Sounds spam-y, no? But it wasn’t.
It was from the lovely Abby, of iherb.com, which is a site that offers great deals on all sorts of fun foodie products (not just vitamins), from Larabars to Navitas raw powders and chocolates to Eden grains to even the famed Sun Warrior protein powder that seems to be so popular on the blogs these days.
What would you do if someone gave you $50 to spend on healthy foodie finds???
Abby offered me $50 and the opportunity to host a $50 shopping spree for a lucky reader as well!
.
For my own loot, here’s what I picked out:
A case of Jocalats, my fave toothpaste (it’s strong!), vegan omega-3 pills I talk about in my day-in-the-life post, and…
Arame! My favorite sea veggie.
Right away, I whipped up some of this:
The uber-healthy AND delicious All the Way Arame Salad
(I’m not a sea veggie-lover by any means, but I eat this stuff by the bowlful!)
.
What would YOU spend your $50 on?
Someone is going to be lucky enough to turn the “would” in the above question into a “will.”
Is it you? To enter to win a $50 Shopping Spree on iherb.com, click here.

Hy sweet! Your recipes are…simply amazing!
Have you ever tried amaranth seeds? I`ve purchased it recently, seems worth to give it a try!
XOXO
That salad looks so colorful and inviting! It’s a beauty. I would spend $50 on
1. Bars for work
2. chia seeds
3. protein powder
4. cacao
4. coconut powder
…and about 1000 other things I could think of.
My money would run out before my appetite!
Hiya! love all your recipes, really yummy, can i just add that throwing mungbean sprouts and alfalfa shoots and beansprouts and tamari into your arame salad=amazing, because i make one pretty similiar. just a little note.

Protein powder, chia seeds, maca, and probably fun bars
I got the raw truffles today, thank you SO much!!
I think I’d buy coconut oil, dark cocoa powder, lots of fun nut butters, and Endangered Species chocolate!
50 bucks…hm…
1. Lots of crazy dried fruit cause that stuff’s expeeeensive!
2. Protein powder for the same reason, and because I want to try protein powder cookie dough.
3. Fresh veggies and fruits with the rest, because you can never get enough of those!

I have never tried Arame but it sounds super interesting (and it looks awesome in your salad!)
I’d spend it on dried fruit and larabars!!
That is a lot of Larabar Jocalat!! They are really good though so I can’t blame you for buying a lot of those babies!

hi katie! i found your blog through coffeerun. i’m never one to comment in any blogs coz i’m too shy(?) and from the other side of the world. but i read somewhere in your scrapbook in here that you’ve been here, Philippines. =)
too bad that shopping spree isn’t anywhere near me!
Yum! That salad looks great! I’ve never had a Jocalat- sounds like I should probably get on that!
i would spend $50 on: Coconut oil, nooch and chia seeds (haven’t tried them yet!) and my favorites- Larabars!

Haha yeah you got it!! Not that I expected any less from a smart BC girl
Wonderful salad I must say, I’m especially lovin’ the red cabbage

happy monday angelface!!!
I would definitely buy some chia seeds to try (they’re everywhere now!), some lara bars (always important when you’re on the run), coconut oil, brown rice syrup, and ground flax. … that’s probably over the amount, but who cares, right?
I just wanna say thanks again for your e-mail, sorry if I rambled or anything! Anyway, I love this giveaway. If I had $50 to spend, I’d def grab some chia seeds (because I can’t find them anywhere around where I live
) And I’d def grab some flavored sunflower seed butter (again, something I can’t find since I live 78 miles away from the nearest Whole Foods!- such a pity, I know)
I’d go for any kind of nut butter! And give this chia seed thing a try.
More nut butters, chia seeds, nutritional yeast, stevia drops, protein powders….can you tell that I’m chomping at the bit?
larabars:)
nutritional yeast and nutbutters/stevia
50 dollars would be huge! I would definitely get some coconut butter that i’ve been dying to try but haven’t yet. I’d also love to buy some Nutzo pb!
Thank you for making this available Katie! I entered and am hoping for the best..I am out of all my goodies ;(
I WANT NUTRITIONAL YEAST! where is everyone getting this nooy or whatever it is called!
Hey Katherine,
Have you tried looking at the bulk bins of your closest Whole Foods? Otherwise, veganessentials.com has it!
P.S. I emailed you about the guest post thing
Am I too late??? I would try to get as many new/different/unique items as possible–protein powder in different flavours for sure, bars, coconut butter. So many possibilities I am sure it would take me hours to decide
