My Modeling Gig

Did you know, I have a new job?

It’s true! It’s true! I now moonlight as a dish model.

nycdish2

And here we have the Elizabeth china. Perfect for the family with little children that still wishes to dine elegantly.

See, I could be a dish model.

Mr Heckles: I could play the Oboe. (Non-Friends-watchers, feel free to ignore me.)

nycdish1

And over here, we have your more-grown-up china. This is what you’d use when the boss comes to dinner…

Pearl River Mart

If you like pretty dishware (not to mention furniture, crafts, and Asian-themed knick-knacks), a stop at the Pearl River Mart is a must. It was difficult, but I restrained myself from buying *too* much; I walked out with 2 new dishes, some chopsticks, and a sheet of stickers. They had a cute-cute-cute panda pencil sharpener… but honestly, I do not need it!

If you could be a model for any company/product, what would you choose? A clothing store? A food company? Sportswear?

Oh my goodness, that store! All those dishes! I wish we had a store like that here, complete with CCK model!

I don’t know if I would want to model for a store. I would rather be a model for our city ads. Their slogan is ‘Cultivate Life’ and all their ads feature people doing fun things: shopping at the farmer’s market, cycling along the trails, running through canola fields, showshoeing, etc. I think that would be lots of fun!

I would want to be a model for an athletic brand like Asics. Then I would get to keep all the cute running outfits and shoes, of course… gotta love shoes 🙂

Hottest dish model ever!! love it!!! Why are you just the biggest ray of sunshine ever??!!

Always just so full of amazingness!!!

I would love to model for Whole Foods, dont know how that would work but I want everything there!

Also Forever 21! I want all their clothes!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Gloria says

I love cute tableware. It makes eating even that much more fun!

I would be a Lululemon model. Mostly because I need the discount to be able to afford any more of it! If wearing workout clothes were acceptable for work, dinners, and social gatherings, I would pretty much live in my Lulu pants.

You are beautiful!! Love the bowls too… When I was in NYC I found a plate for $1 at a Japanese market. It’s gonna be in my food pictures a LOT, let’s just say that haha.
If I could model anything, it wouldn’t be any kind of product that you can buy, it would be TRUE BEAUTY! I know that sounds corny but to be honest, I wouldn’t ever want to be any kind of model unless I could set an example for other people and be someone they could look up to, someone who can be beautiful by her own standards and not society’s 😀

Oh me too! When I was little, I always wanted to be taller… but once I started dating (and going to dances), I was happy to be 5’5. My sister (who’s 5’1) always brags that she can wear the tallest shoes and still not tower over anyone :).

    Hi Katie!

I read your blog consistantly, but can only comment on WordPress form one computer in my house (unfortunately, it is the one that rarely has internet connection.) But I love hearing about all of your adventures with food and fun recipes! You most certainly do make a wonderful dish model 😛

I would love to be a dove “real beauty” model or a model for runner’s wear.

OOO you are looking fly with those dishes lady!!

I would hands-down, without a doubt be A-OK with being a Running clothes, shoes, events (anything running) model. A. Getting to run-how cool. B. Uhm free running gear- YES please.

  13. Bianca- Vegan Crunk says

I always wanted to be a model! I even went to modeling school when I was in junior high. But I wanted to do high-fashion runway, and I stopped growing at 5’2″ so no chance that’ll ever work out. And now I’m old. 🙂

Hey, didn’t post Banana Butter last night…our power went out at 10 p.m. and didn’t come back on until 3 a.m. (when I was asleep), so no post at all. But I’ll post it tonight fo ‘sho.

  14. Stefanie says

You make a nice dish model. 🙂 That store looks like it is dangers. So many cute dishes to be bought.

    • Chocolate-Covered Katie says

Ack, Joyce, I was supposed to talk about that in my second part of the CV goes to College post… but I’ve forgotten to finish writing it! I need to get to that! (Oh, and “yes” is the answer to your q)

  15. spoonfulofsugarfree says

    Beautiful dish modeling!!!

And I actually am a model! I just do little gigs that an agency sets up for me, but I think it would be awesome to model permanently for a clothing boutique (like Monica above) and get free clothes like her!!! 😛

  16. Jessica @ Fit & Clean says

I always wanted to be a clothes model. And I did, when I was young. It never went anywhere though! I’m only 5’4 so….. 🙂 Now that I’m really old I would love to be a fitness model, if I could ever build enough muscle, LOL!

  17. Mary @ Bites and Bliss says

I definitely model for health food or kitchen appliances. That way maybe there’s be some big time discounts!! 😀

  18. Gaby says

I was so tempted by cute dishes in target today! Sadly I have a small kitchen and already overflowing cupboards 🙁 Maybe if you had been standing in the aisles modeling those dishes though I wouldn’t have been able to resist!
I’m not sure what I”d model, maybe for an airline or travel agency so I’d have to travel to pretty places for the photo shoots, then get free tickets to places.

Also, it’s off topic, but since becoming a follower of your blog a long long time ago, I try to use chopsticks whenever possible. It’s so much more fun!

You are adorable, and I love that store. I love pretty plates and dishes, I would totally overspend there.

I think I’d dig being a sportswear model. I like looking strong and capable!

  20. izzy says

Oh my goodness – that place looks like my HEAVEN! I am in severe need of some more prettyful dishes. I think you’d make a great dish model, clearly you have me wanting them! Haha

Who would I model for?? I’m gonna go with almond butter (I eat enough of it – I can vouch for it, it’s amazing!) ORRR Forever 21 (again, I buy enough of their stuff! ;D).

    izzyy
    xoxo

  21. Ilana says

Katie, I’m dying over the FRIENDS quote – you’re hysterical. But you COULD be a model. So there! Who’s lookin at the dishes when Katie is in the picture?!

When I was a kid I did modeling – bridal clothes, aka flower girl dresses. Now, I’m contemplating putting together a portfolio for fitness modeling. I’m so not competitive and I don’t know if I could take it seriously but it sounds like something fun to do – I mean, have someone take pictures of me looking awesome. I’m not egotistical at all, promise.

  22. Jessica says

You’re a beautiful young lady I’m certain you could get a job modeling for anything you would like. I think it would have been neat to work with Bob Barker on the Price Is Right…are you old enough to remember that show? lol

    Seriously though, you look great!

  23. Marianne says

Hmmm…I have no clue what I would model for. Perhaps hair products, cuz I have pretty good hair that will do whatever you want it to if you give it enough attention.

  24. wendy @ ABCs and Garden Peas says

I HAVE been a hand model for food! My hands were photographed making icing roses on a rose nail to be used commercially. I was on set making a wedding cake for a bridal brochure!

I got some free cake out of it. Boo.

I think I’d rather model for wine!
