Cover me in Chocolate!

by Chocolate-Covered Katie on August 14, 2010

I have another post scheduled for later today.

.

For now, a quick update:

Quite a few readers/bloggers have left comments on my FAQ page, asking why I don’t have a “subscription” button so they can receive email updates, letting them know when I post.

I was embarrassed to admit my technology naiveté; I didn’t know you could get an email telling you when someone posted! But one of the amazing things about blogging is that it teaches me fun, new things about computers every single day.

.

So, thanks to these readers, there is now a “subscription” button on the right sidebar of my blog: “Cover me in Chocolate!” :)

Thanks, girls, for expanding my technological horizons! I have a friend who always tells me he marvels about the fact that out of all his tech-y friends, I am the one who started up a thriving blog.

.

Question of the Day:

Do you consider yourself technologically-savvy? Or are you computer/gadget illiterate?

I am in awe of all the 8-year-olds running around these days with i-phones, internet, i-pods…

I feel like it takes forever..a world of trial and error..to figure anything out computer related!

Haha, I know what you mean. I still have a phone with a normal key pad (no build in keyboards for me). It’s makes texting a pain in the butt, but at least it keeps me from doing it that often. I always tell my friends: “only text me when necessary, I pay my own phone bill!”

The most high-tech thing with me is my Ipod. And I have trouble downloading tunes.

I was wondering why you didn’t have a subscription button considering all the readers you have, lol…now I know why :p

I’ve been getting email updates for several months now! It was hidden and I wanted that little box as well, but when you submit a comment there is a box to click asking if you want to subscribe to this site by email. Did the trick for me, although it’s cool you got that step up in technology.

Now more people can get you delivered to their inbox too! :)

My son, 12, I go to him when I have a computer or phone problem. Crazy smart kids!

Haha, I am technology illiterate for the most part.
I leave all the gadget-figuring out to my brothers and my dad.
One of my brothers is a computer consultant/techie guy
and worked for IBM for a number of years, so if I have a problem I call him up.
Another brother is a dabbler in all things technology related,
he has these cables that can hook his computer to the TV and all sorts of crazy stuff.

Buuut sometimes I surprise myself and others, too. ;]
I usually live with my eldest brother during the college school year,
and one day I noticed he was freaking out because he had closed an important tab
he’d had open and he had his history where it automatically clears everything
so he didn’t know how he was going to find this particular webpage again.
I gave him a confused look and said, “…You know, there’s a ‘recently closed tabs’
option under your ‘History’ button, did you check that?”
Lo and behold, Mr. Computer Technician had never heard of such a thing in his 15 or so years of experience. =P

It’s kind of like high school, but only in reverse. In the real (at least technical) world “jocks drool and nerds rule” lol

Seriously though, I love your blog and the thought of being covered in chocolate…drool! I could so totally jump into a vat of chocolate…like the kid on Willy Wonka!

Ugh! When I was trying to change my blog over from wordpress.com to just .com, I wanted to throw my laptop out the window!! My kids can figure out things in no time flat, though…it’s very embarrassing!

Don’t laugh, but even my 5 year old nephew can already boot up a PC, log in, open a browser, open Itunes for music, and go to a game website! I watched him do this while I was at my sister’s on vacation, and just fell out of my chair! He’s 5!!

I consider myself a moderate as far as know how, and I actually work in IT, though I’m not a tech. I finally found the Google RSS feed button and get your posts on my iGoogle page, plus Wordpress allowed me to subscribe. At the end of the day, though, I’d say I only know enough to troubleshoot small problems, lol!

Laugh?! Ha, he’ll probably be laughing at ALL of us in a few years when he’s the next Bill Gates. That’s what I always told my one friend who can actually MAKE his own computer!

Aahh, I admire anyone with the stones to mod or even build thier own PCs! I probably could, but I lack the confidence.

I’m the absolute worst when it comes to technology! Really, it’s laughable. My phone is about 5 years old, my computer has a virus and is being repaired (hopefully!!) and I’m having to use my mom’s old apple laptop and I’m so terrible with new systems, I can’t figure anything out on here.
today my brother made so much fun of me, because he got a new laptop that came with a free itouch, so he gave me his old one and I barely even know what it is exactly. I know it’s cool and I’m excited to have one but I was asking all kinds of questions about whether it was like an ipod, and what capabilities and how to check emails and so on. And I know it’s going to take me ages to figure out a touch screen.
Also, I know my blog page could use some major work, but I couldn’t do much more than choose from the present format options and backgrounds. It even took me a while to figure out how to load my picture :X One day I’ll get around to learning these things!

Hahaha you and me both! Even my MOM knows how to use an i-phone. But I’m stuck with my little plain-jane cell phone. They keep offering to get me an iphone, blackberry, whatever… but I LIKE my familiar gadgets :) .
(My sister and your brother could be good friends! She teases me too.)
