Raw and Vegan Christmas Treats

Raw Christmas cookies???

Oh poor Santa! He’s in for a surprise when he stops at my house ;).
(Anyone see the movie, The Santa Clause? I love when the little girl gives Santa soymilk.)

In honor of Christmas, I figured a cookie-themed post was needed. But my blog is teeming with so many cookie recipes that, in order to not overwhelm you—or Santa—I’m breaking the feature into two posts, raw and baked cookies. Starting with the raw cookies:

raw snickerdoodles

Raw Snickerdoodles

raw chocolate chip cookies

Raw Chocolate Chip Cookies

Artisana coconut butter melties

Coconut Melties

raw macaroons

Raw Macaroons

vegan raw gingerbread men

Raw Gingerbread Men

vegan chocolate peanut butter balls

Raw Buckeyes

.

More Raw Cookies:

Question of the Day:
When did you stop believing in Santa?
Or maybe you still believe? I was in fourth grade, and some mean girl told me. But we still put cookies out for Santa… just in case ;).
P.S. I’m playing “Guess that Christmas Quote” on Twitter today. Play with me?

I never believed in Santa — my parents never did that. Gifts were from Mom and Dad, not Santa. And to be honest I really don’t remember having friends who really believed in Santa either.

Now when we exchange gifts, any “joke” or gag gift is from “Santa”. After Jason and I got engaged, his mom gave me lingerie for Christmas (yes she did!!!) — and it was from “Dirty Santa”. ha!

    Merry Christmas Katie!

(Looks like I have internet today too… last day of work until 04 January – yay!)

Haha, I love when Santa gets soymilk too – priceless! And that’s a brilliant kid!

I don’t remember when I learnt who Santa was, but it doesn’t really matter. Even after I found out we would always put out cookies and carrots for Santa and his reindeer. We still get presents from Santa… and why not? Santa is all about fun and making people smile and nothing says adults cannot enjoy that part of Christmas too. This year I asked Santa for a colouring book, so we’ll see if there’s one under the tree on Saturday.

We put carrots out too! And now I know why: my dad LOVES raw carrots. (On the flip side, I will tell my children that santa’s reindeer only like cooked veggies. I can’t stand raw carrots! Or maybe I’ll just hafta marry a raw-carrot-eater.)

I don’t ever remember believing in Santa 🙁 I was afraid of him when I was a baby and everytime my parents would talk about Santa I would cry. So they had to tell me it was just a fun story. But come on, the thought of a big jolly old man sneaking into your house in the middle of the night and eating all your cookies is scary!! I don’t care if he leaves me presents or not – don’t take my cookies 🙂

On a happier note… I thinned out the gingerbread butter with some almond milk and poured it over my oatmeal this morning. Gingerbread butter blanket – divine! Maybe you could even mix in some coconut butter and make a gingerbread magic shell for vanilla ice cream??

    • Chocolate-Covered Katie says

Ahh gingerbread magic shell??!! Woah, that is taking it to a whole new level. Nirvana much?
As for you being scared of santa… lol I can’t stop laughing, but your explanation is so true! Why aren’t more kids scared of him? You’re right: he breaks in, steals your cookies, and never lets you see him? Sounds scary to me, now that I think of it. I guess you were wise beyond your age :).

I love the soymilk part in the Santa Clause too! And I like Kiersten’s comment, maybe I’ll make some raw babies with Junior to leave out for Santa this year,as a nice change… and, Soymilk too! lol
I did believe in Santa and I actually have no idea how old I was when I stopped. My parents used to leave ‘evidence’, like footprints in white powder (flour I think lol), etc.. so we had a good time with it as kids 🙂 And I remember one year, one of the gifts from “Santa” neither of my parents had any idea where it came from! Or so they said…… 😉
Merry 1 Day left Before Christmas Katie!

  5. Katherine says

Gah I wish I had the means to make this stuff it all look absolutely amazing!
And ya, as for Santa I always was very suspicious and never really believed even as a little kid. My brother, who is two years older than me, believed long after I solidified my belief that he couldn’t actually be real.

  6. Stefanie says

I was either in the 3rd or 4th grade when my parents told me Santa was not real. It is ok with me because Santa gave me nightmares on Christmas eve night. For some reason I like the movie The Santa Clause though. I’m weird like that. All of those cookies/treats look great. If I wasn’t so cheap I would be making them. 🙂 Have a nice Christmas.

  7. Alexandra says

I don’t remember when it was that I stopped believing, but I remember finding the Christmas paper that was used to wrap “Santa’s presents” in the garage. But I still put out cookies, too. 🙂
I love the Santa Clause movie! I’m hoping to watch it today……
I really want to try your fudge babies with some peppermint extract or crushed candy canes – Yum!

  8. Tori says

Some girl in 2nd grade told everyone at the lunch table he didn’t exsist! (She was a Jahovah’s witness!) And we all REFUSED to believe it, and said she didn’t know what she was talking about! Haha! We were soooooo serious about Santa being real! 😉

  9. Stefanie says

This is just an all-around delicious post! I think I was in 3rd grade when my older sister dropped the Santa bomb! I still tried to act like he was real though! 🙂

  10. Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) says

i just opened up like 5 backlinks…LOL. I had forgotten about some of these goodies! YUM! And yes, Xmas themed holiday posts are the best…all kinds of cookies, balls, doughs, and wonderful stuff…all in once place! Thanks for making this compilation!

Santa. Oh, I still am a believer. I believe that I went to a hot, gross, random store here on the island in order to stock up on some Santa presents. After all, Santa doesnt skip little girls who are traveling and away from home 🙂

  11. Kiersten says

If I was Santa, I think your raw cookies would be a nice change from the usual baked cookies everyone else puts out. I stopped believing in Santa sometime around the 3rd or 4th grade. I was always a skeptic, so I figured the truth out pretty quick.

  12. Lauren @ Coachlauren.net says

I love that movie! 🙂 Those cookies all look awesome!

I can’t remember exactly what year it was when I found out….I think 3rd or 4th grade. I kept it a secret from my parents that I knew though because I felt bad for finding out hahahah…what a wierd kid I was.

  13. melissa @ the delicate place says

omg i was in 4th grade too! a 6th grader on the bus told me 🙁 i was so upset when i got home haha. now who cares if santa exists if i can eat those raw cookies!

  14. Emma (Sweet Tooth Runner) says

Hey, I still believe in Santa! 😉
And I HAVE MY FIRST COCONUT MELTIE IN MY FRIDGE RIGHT NOW! 😀
P.S Your comment was in the Spam queue! Silly WordPress! But thanks for the heads-up! 🙂

  15. Namaste Gurl says

If I was good ole’ Saint Nick, I’d definitely be one happy camper to get some of your fudge babies and coconut melties! 🙂
As I got to 5th grade, I started to sense santa’s handwriting looked quite similar to my dad’s….

  16. Ann Claire says

Yum! I really need to try some raw cookies. Hmm I really can’t remember when I stopped believing in Santa. Having 3 older siblings, I think I was pretty young. But I think I just kind of figured it out over time, there was no definite moment when I realized.

  17. Claire says

I probably stopped believing at about 7 or 8, the disillusion would have been thanks to one of my friends. His parents never told him about Santa, one day he got rather overconfident and told the entire year level that Santa was just mum and dad 😛 He was in a great deal of trouble from the school. Quite funny in hindsight. When did you learn about the Easter bunny and the Tooth Fairy?

Have a wonderful day tomorrow Katie!!

  18. Kit-Kat says

    There IS a santa!
I’m a Roman Catholic, and St. Nicholas is real. There are miracles to prove it (not magic). He may not be the old story book kind of santa clause kids are used to seeing, but all the same, there is a “santa” in the form of St. Nicholas!
    No, I never stopped believing.
Yes, he comes to our house still, too! And we leave Soy-nog and home-made cookies for him, and a carrot for his horse, Rudolph.
