Fudge Mommies?

Hi Fudge Babies!

Today’s post focuses on Mothers’ Day recipes, for all the Fudge Mommies out there! Speaking of which, don’t you think we need an actual recipe called fudge mommies? (Maybe a brownie?)

I’ll have to work on this. After all, fudge babies need mommies too, right?

Here are a few recipes that remind me of Mothers’ Day:

sberry cake1

Strawberry Shortcake (for one!)

Blueberry Muffin Bowl

Frozen Hot Chocolate

Healthy Krispy Kremes

pizza cake

Dessert Pizza Cake

chocolate chip cookies

Not Guilty cookies

My Pancake Recipes

I could list about a million more, because basically all recipes are good for Mothers’ Day… as long as said recipes are made with love by someone other than the mother, herself!

Have you made any Mothers’ Day plans yet?

My mom sometimes reads my blog, so I can’t say anything about mine!

Katie is the baker, photographer, and author of the popular blog Chocolate-Covered Katie. Her favorite food is chocolate, and she believes in eating a balanced diet that includes dessert every single day. More about Katie—>

  1. Looking at these, I wish I was your mom! LOL!

I am taking my mom to brunch and I bought her a ridiculously decadent cheese basket. Random – but momma is a hard-core foodie. :)

  2. We usually go out to eat with my parents for lunch and then we stop by Jason’s mom’s house and then his Grandma’s house — just to sit and chat for a while. We’re lucky that we get to see our families quite often, but it is still nice to see them on “their” holiday!

  3. Oh gosh, I keep trying to think of things to make for my mom, but I can’t think! Plus we will be driving all day on Mother’s day (not much of a mother’s day, eh?)….I think I will just bake her a bunch of treats to take on the road!

  4. Jennifer JCD says:

My mum is coming home from holidays on Mother’s Day so we’ll probably do our usual Mother’s Day stuff next weekend – a brunch made of waffles, loads of fruit, and some chcolate. We top it off with a few board games and watch Mum’s favourite movie, pretty Woman. It’s a fun day. The inlaws have a meat-fest barbeque that we reluctantly attend. It’s the same thing every year… but I’ll whip up a batch of something supper yummy and make them all wish they chose vegan food instead. Hehehe…

  5. Emily says:

I won’t be home on Mother’s Day but I will definitely be baking my little heart out when I get home later in the week! I can’t wait to try a bunch of recipes. Frozen hot chocolate looks amazingggg!

  6. I’m going to make a point to spend time with my boys for mother’s day! I may have to chase them around outside, but that’s ok too! Have a great weekend Katie!

  7. Jeska says:

Mother’s Day in the UK was over a month ago now, and I was panicking so badly that I had got it wrong and it was NOW and I needed to buy things xD

On Mother’s Day I cooked for my Mum :) I made her vegetable curry with rice and a raspberry chocolate mousse, and bought her a DVD to watch eating it. She seemed pleased. :) xx

  8. Charissa says:

That’s funny, I just did a vegan superfood fudge post on my site this morning…looks like we had the same idea! But then, we both always prefer everything bathed in chocolate…so what’s to be expected! 😉

  9. McKella says:

I won’t be able to see my mom on Mother’s Day :( BUT I am working on an awesome present for her. She’s wanted me to make a collage of a beach to put in her beach-themed living room, and I’m finally making it! It’s huge and it looks awesome and I’m way excited to give it to her when I do see her!

  10. Cute post! I will be seeing my mother next weekend.. but we have some fun things planned..including mani/pedis!

  11. yay so excited to make some of these for my mama

  12. Awww I just love your recipes. Too bad my mom lives to far away because I cannot make these for her. Luckily I’m having brunch with my brother and fiance. Perhaps I’ll make them somethin!

  13. Karla says:

Zucchini bread always reminds me of my mom. Our garden was always overflowing with zucchinis growing up. I need to find a gluten free recipe to make for her!

  14. Lenna says:

Nice post, it is a good reminder that the Mother´s Day is coming:) Unfortunatelly I won´t see my mom on that day, we live too far from each other, so my only plan is to call her and wish her all the best, maybe send her a homemade card:)

  15. Oh goodness, I am so behind on thinking of a mothers’ day gift. I’m going to visit my family for dinner at their house but have been too busy to get or make a card or gift. My mom always says she doesn’t want anything, but I’d feel like a bad daughter showing up empty-handed!

  16. Everything looks wonderful!!! My husband and I are both working around 13 hours on Mother’s Day, but we’ll see my mom the following day. :) Hope you and your mom have a wonderful day! :)

  17. I’m not seeing my mommy this year, but she at least got a little gift to let her know I’m thinking of her. Perhaps I’ll let her guest post on my blog…??? By the way, found your site from your PB Fingers guest post. Good lookin’ stuff you’ve got here! : )

    1. Aww I’m so glad you found me! Chocolate hugs, Tiff! 😉

  18. Emilia says:

Happy Mothers day– looks like some yummy dishes moms would love 😉

  19. I’m going to make my mom french toast in the morning & then we’re going shopping together! Should be a fun Sunday afternoon :) Although the frozen hot chocolate would go perfectly with the breakfast.. maybe I’ll have to try that!

    1. Hehe I’ve had it at breakfast before. Don’t tell anyone ;).

  20. i LOVE when you do these recipe round-ups, because i feel like i get all caught up in case i missed anything! wooo! :)

  21. Your momma is so LUCKY to have such a lovely daughter as you! Not to mention one with such talent in the kitchen!!! I hope any future Mini Emmas turn out like you :)

And I am hopefully making your cookies TOMORROW!! SO jazzed!! 😀

  22. vivoir says:

Oh my gosh- remember I said about raspberry fudge on holiday the other day? I’m nabbing your strawberry recipe and subbing in raspberries for a feeble attempt to recreate the recipe on holiday!

Oh, plus, as a fellow girly… peep at today’s blog as today I got a VERY pretty ring 😀 You’re clearly a fiend for choc, so add a bit of glitz-appreciation and I’d say we have an ultimate combo!

  23. Stephanie says:

On a splurge day, I am going to DOMINATE that frozen hot chocolate!

  24. No plans. Not sure anyone in my house realizes it’s Mother’s Day so we shall see what’s in store :)

Your recipes and photography, Katie, in this post are just really special. They all look so good and the more recent recipes/pics…looking oooh la la so good! I have a craving for krispy kremes all of a sudden..your version of course!

  25. I am in love with your recipes!! :) I can’t wait for Mother’s Day!

  26. Lorne says:

This is my first Mother’s Day. I have no idea what Minu will have instore for his mamma. For mine, we are celebrating with NZ salmon for lunch and an afternoon drive – my mum is really into exploring the countryside :0)

Happy Mother’s Day all you mammas out there!
    Blessings Katie

    1. Awww happy first Mothers’ Day! :)

  27. Dalai Lina says:

You pancake recipes inspired me to make pancakes last night! I just took a package of gluten free pancake mix, added some ground flax seed and dark chocolate chips, and Viola! Lazy moms pancakes!

  28. Stephanie says:

Katie, you ARE the fudge mommy!

    1. Hehehe I wonder if my children will let me eat them for Mothers’ Day…

  29. Looking at your post from two days ago: Healthy glaze?!? Have I mentioned yet that I love you?

Looking at your post from yesterday: Speechless. I would try to tell you how amazing your pancakes look and how amazing you are, but no words could properly convey your amazing amazingness 😀

Looking at today’s post: Any mom would be SO lucky to have your recipes for Mother’s Day! :) Of course I already know that your mom is going to have an amazing Mother’s Day because she has you! 😀 I don’t have anything planned yet, but I’ll probably make my mom a necklace or a pair of earrings. Or maybe some healthy donuts…. :)

    <3 <3

  30. Love all those recipes! I can’t wait to make breaky for my mom on Sunday!

  31. Albizia says:

My mother is too far from me (or I am too far from her) so I can’t give her a present. Maybe I will just try to be a good girl for her :)

  32. kate says:

Im just a little bit jealous of your mom… those cookies look divine!

  33. Jojo says:

I won’t be home on Mother’s Day, so she will just be getting a call from me.
I used to make breakfast for her when I lived at home, though. Last time, I think was two years ago. I think I made a frittata, biscuits, muffins, and fruit salad.

  34. I’m so happy I found your blog! Your recipes look so yummy! :-)

    1. Awww I’m so glad you found me too! And lol your blog name is so super-cute!

  35. I’m thinking my family is going to get together on Saturday evening and grill out. My mom said all she wants for Mother’s Day this year is to spend time together! I’m up for that…especially since I’m mucho poor right now! 😉

I can only imagine the treats your mama is in for this weekend!

  36. Mmmm…everything looks so good! This Mother’s Day we are having both of my grandmothers over for a BBQ and cookout and we’re just gonna chill out. Low key, yet fun nonetheless! :-)

  37. kate says:

I was going to wait to comment on one of your posts until I had actually gone ahead and made something, but I can’t resist! You’re really making it hard for me to get through this week of finals when I keep seeing all these delicious things I am planning on making when I get home :). Definitely trying out one of the pancake recipes first!

Also just wanted to say how your blog has really been helping me get over my brief stint with an ED. I had an obsession with counting calories and assumed that that was somehow “healthy” because I knew every gram of whatever I was taking in. I worked out immensely on top of only eating 1200 calories a day and would use times at home for binging on what I had felt guilty about eating at school. Once I realized the toll it was taking on my life I decided I was going to get back into running (former xc member) where I couldn’t count exact calories and eat when I felt hungry. I’m actually much healthier now and my body appreciates getting the nutrients it needs to fuel my love for running! Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to thank you for your inspiring posts about calorie counting and diets and how they helped keep me in a positive mentality about myself.

    1. Wow, Kate, your comment made me smile SO much! I cannot even tell you how much! It’s so awesome that you’re taking good care of your body now… we only get one! I know that I felt so much better once I started eating enough to support my running… and I got faster too. I’m betting that happened to you, too! :)

  38. Laura says:

    Dear Katie,
I recently discovered your blog, and I have really enjoyed reading it! I can identify with you, because I am one of those “freakish” people who finds it very hard to gain weight. I understand the frustration with people making comments to you about your weight and how skinny you are, and it is just hard to know how to respond sometimes. People who know me know I eat, but many times, people who do not know me automatically assume something is wrong. A typical comment I get is why do you exercise when you do not need to or why don’t you just eat a cheese burger and large fries? Well, I feel yucky if I don;t exercise and eat poorly! However, I have just finished college and moved back home, and this summer, I really want to gain some weight. I will have to focus on this and make a conscience effort, and I can tell you have some great ways to gain weight in a “healthy” way! Sorry for the long post, but I wanted you to know I was glad I found your blog!

    1. Hey Laura! Ugh, I want to reach through the screen and give you a hug! ‘Cause when people say the “burger and fries” thing I just want to scream! People need to “worry” about themselves and not assume things about others they don’t know.
Actually, the comments don’t even get to me as much as the people who DON’T say anything, but you know what they’re thinking because of how they look at you. I just wish our society would stop being so judgemental… like the rest of the animal kingdom! I’m betting a fat pug doesn’t make fun of a skinny greyhound (and vice versa hehe). Anywhoos, I’m glad you found me!

      1. kate says:

I was looking up things about dealing with the side effects of low blood pressure, and apparently someone’s doctor told them to eat fast food every day because of the high sodium content! I can’t believe that doctors are giving such horrid advice, numbers aren’t everything!

      2. It’s so ridiculous… doctors don’t even need to take a single class in nutrition in order to get a license! Horrible, right?!

  39. BroccoliHut says:

I wish I could be with my mom for Mother’s Day! I still don’t have a gift planned for her though…ideas?

    1. Something homemade! Moms love homemade stuff. I bought a wooden tray once at Michaels, painted it, and covered it in photos. Moms also seem to love photos of when we were babies… or maybe they just love babies. (Or is that just my mom? lol)

  40. bitt of raw says:

Sadly I won’t be with my mom this year, I miss her. Maybe soon though. I will call her and hopefully my sister too who is a new mom.

My mom has quite the sweet tooth and she’d LOVE all those recipes. They look great.

  41. Emma says:

    Gawjus pictures Katie! :-)

  42. These are making my mouth waterrrrrr haha.. YUM! :)
