Nutritional Facts:

Calories per tablespoon: 24

This whipped cream is also sugar-free, if you use stevia. And unlike Cool Whip, which lists “hydrogenated oil” as its second ingredient, my recipe has no trans fats nor high fructose corn syrup.

I also have another cream recipe, much lower in calories: Low-Calorie Vegan Cream.

(Side note: heavy whipping cream has 52 calories per tabelspoon)

I tried, I love!! I am a big coconut fan anyway. This is delicious. Who would’ve thought it could be so thick and creamy?!

Katie, are you ever going to have a cook book I love some of your recipes but they are hard to print just the recipe—you get the whole blog stuff and comments and I just want the recipes and the print is small the way I get them making it hard to read a printed blog recipe. Thank you so much ! Patsy

With all due respect!….You have to be kidding me?…
Palm oil and heavy coconut milk have the highest
saturated fat content of any foods!!!….The FDA banded it
from all butter favorerd oils for popped corn in movie
theaters years ago……This stuff is nasty!…Your calories
may be low…but they are all saturated fat and the worst
    calories possible!!!!….
….and who puts only 1 TBL of whipped topping on anything???????

    1. marsha says:

      Craig,
If you have a minute to hear my rambling…
As you may already know, what the FDA deems”bad” changes regularly. For example, the ever morphing food pyramid that has changed no less than 3 times in the past 10 years. You would think that if the FDA knew 100% what was best for us from a nutritional standpoint, they wouldn’t keep changing their minds :). The newer studies show that coconut oil/fats are digested more efficiently by the body. It was once thought that margarine was mUCH better for us than butter (because of the cholesterol) but now studies show that the partially hydrogenated oils (that the body doesn’t know what to do with) are far worse from a nutritional standpoint. Just like olive oils and grapeseed oils are better for us than chemically produced canola oil (but remember when canola oil was touted as the ‘best’ oil to use?) So..keep an open mind. All saturated fats are not created equal. saturated fats from animals do not effect the body in the same way that plant based saturated fats do. Because Americans diet can be high calorie dense and low nutritionally balanced, and we don’t really eat the diet that is best for our bodies, its difficult to ‘cherry pick’ which points of our diets are “good” and “bad” for us. We are still learning…
All I can say is, Thank goodness we don’t all live in a zombie apocalypse, where all there is to eat is stale ‘moon pies’ and canned ‘spam’. 😉

      Craig,

When you can explain to me why human breast milk has MORE cholesterol than does cow’s milk and it is the best first milk for HUMAN BABIES and not designed by nature to give us heart disease, I’ll buy the theory that cholesterol and other saturated fats are bad for humans. But it DOESN’T DO THAT and in reality never did. Read “Grain Brain” and find out why all that “cholesterol is bad” lie was wrong, wrong, wrong. I taught clinical nutrition to nursing students for 5 years and shut down the male biology professor who taught students that “cholesterol theory” with this same argument and he stopped teaching it because it is simply wrong. When we don’t eat cholesterol, our body makes it off of triglycerides because it is essential (meaning we have to have it). You know how that feels, right Craig? Turns out, LBL-b, the artery hardening plaque is made from fructose (both from corn sweetener and too much fruit) as in too much REAL manufactured Cool Whip that EVERYONE read the specially designed label that lead people to think it was “calorie free” when it wasn’t EVER calorie free when you add the entire container (8 oz or 12 oz) to your dessert) !! Turns out corn syrup in Cool Whip NEVER has carbs/sugars according to the lying label. But when you buy it by the bottle as Karo syrup, Gloriosky Sandy, it DOES have sugar carbs in it. How does that happen. Krafty label design by Kraft Foods, that’s how. Do the math, people! Your brain is 60-70% fat (especially cholesterol) and you need your fat to be able to do the math! There I feel better now.

Does this ” cool while” taste like coconut. Sounds wonderful as I cannot eat/drink dairy and husband doesn’t like coconut. Sounds great.

I did not think it tasted at all like coconut, if that helps!
