Winner of the Vita-Mix 5200
Cammy! Please email me with your address, and I’ll send your stats to the awesome Vita-Mix people so they can send you a spankin’ new blender, making you the envy of all!
A word (ok, many words) about my Giveaways:
Someone accused me of hosting so many giveaways solely in order to make money.
Normally I don’t bother responding to baseless accusations, and we’ve already covered the blogging-for-money topic.
But I get a lot of (much nicer!) comments from people wondering how companies find me and offer these giveaways. The truth is that I really don’t know how some of these companies find me! I’ll be sorting through my junk mail and will come across a “Free Samples!” email. Then I’ll have to decide whether to open said email or not: It could be spam… or a virus! On the other hand, I don’t want to throw out an amazing offer.
Magic Bullet, NuNaturals, Vita-Mix— in all of these cases, they contacted me.
(Very rarely, I will contact a company, but only if I can’t find their product where I live. This was the case with Jay Robb, because I wanted to try their rice protein but never saw it in my area.)
Many of the “free sample” emails also come with offers to host a giveaway. And who wouldn’t take these companies up on such generous giveaway offers? Well, honestly, it’d be easier for me not to. After all, I’m not getting the stuff offered in the giveaway, so I don’t understand how anyone could say my motives in sponsoring these giveaways are selfish. It takes a lot of work to host a giveaway, what with setting it up, writing the posts, keeping track of comments, etc. It’d certainly be easier to just not do it. But making someone’s day is so much fun!! As Phoebe says, on Friends, there’s no such thing as a selfless good deed. Hmmm, well then I guess, in a way, my motives for hosting giveaways are selfish! Plus, I’m only looking out for my well-being. I don’t think people would be happy with me if they learned I’d passed up, say, an Artisana Nut Butter giveaway! (Maybe then I’d finally get some of those elusive tomatoes thrown my way???) Be honest; would you pass up such an amazing offer??? Not unless you were insane, right?! 😉
But I don’t want my blog to just be about giveaways.
I do a lot of them because it’s so hard to say no to someone who’s offering free stuff, ya know? But I do actually say no to some of them. (Sorry if you wanted a chance to win bags of chia seeds, a knock-knock bundle, a vegan cookbook, cacao nibs, etc. I’ll take those tomatoes now.) So, other, non-giveaway upcoming posts will include: (I know, I do these lists a lot; they help me stay organized!)
- Healthy adaptations of cheesecake, pancake syrup, chocolate milkshakes, fudge brownies, etc.
- Decorated cupcakes to raise money for Haiti (PLEASE, guys, don’t forget about Haiti!)
- Running posts
- Previously-mentioned upcoming posts (beauty, chopstick tutorial, raw recipes…)
- More debate posts (and a very personal post, when I finally get the courage to post it!)
- And maybe another 3000-Calorie Post.
Thanks so much to everyone who reads my blog. It means so much to me! I’m sending you all big hugs through my computer screen :). Did you get them?
