Lovely Lunching Lady

There was a time (middle school) when not a day went by without a Mommy-and-Katie fight.  Now, however, she is my best friend and the most amazing person in this world.  That’s not an opinion; it’s a fact.  If you met her, you’d think so too! 🙂

Things that make my mom so awesome:

1. She teaches Special Ed.  Mommy = Saint.

2. Even though she’s afraid of trying new things, she accompanies me to any/all vegan restaurants I choose, because she says that me being happy is more important to her than her feeling uncomfortable.

3. She routinely talks me into buying things I deem too expensive, telling me that I’m worth it.

4. She always puts others’ needs above her own.  Always.

5.Everyone knows that teachers work very hard for little pay.  Still, my mom puts in even more time with the kids because she is in charge of the Circle of Friends program at the high school.

Your mum sounds like the person I’d love to be (boy, am I ever far away from being !) !!!

    Yay, Katie’s mum !!!!

Yay, Katie for having such an awesome mum !!!!

Double yay for us, your readers, for experiencing the awesomeness that such awesome parents pass on to their awesome kids.

Have I mentioned lately how awesome I think you are ?

PS Talking about puberticious mom-daughter fights, – been there, overdone that, – and yet, – my mom loves me, – and I love my mom ohsomuch, – she is the one person that I can be open with in a way I’d be too afraid to with anyone else for fear of losing them, – with her I need not fear.

So, YAY for growing (older, wiser and whatever) !!!!
AND (even more so) YAY for moms !!!!

She sure seems like a wonderful woman and I’m so glad to hear that you have a great relationship. I had my fair share of screaming fights against my mother when I was young, and unfortunately, she passed away suddenly when I was 20, and of course all the things that come screaming back into your head are those terrible times. I’m fortuate enough to have “Grown up” between 17-20 so we did have a good relationship after I went to college. Not trying to be negative, your post just reminded me how nice it is to grow up and not have those terrible fights with someone you love so much.

This is the sweetest post ever 🙂 My mom & I are super close too. We have a lot in common like our love for reading, cooking & eating healthy foods, exercise, being outdoors, and traveling. If we do get into an argument it’s usually resolved in an hour or so. She is a teacher as well so I understand where you come from for admiring your mom’s career. It takes a special person to be an educator.

This post is so awesome to read. How many of us younger folks give our parents the gratitude and appreciation they deserve? You are a great person and a great daughter. My mom also taught special ed. Takes more patience than most people are willing to give.
