Raw Chocolate Chip Cookies

Redefining cookies and milk.

Just your basic nighttime snack at the Chocolate-Covered house, proving that healthy food can taste sinful. Especially healthy food in the form of raw chocolate chip cookies:

Above, homemade Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Babies.

To make the cookies, I simply smushed the babies, as opposed to rolling them into balls. Voila! Raw chocolate chip cookies!

Are you a nighttime snacker? About 2 hours or so after dinner, I usually find myself getting hungry again. Enter the nighttime snack.

My favorite nighttime snack is peanut butter and jelly on a toasted whole wheat bagel… and your right that healthy food is delicious… it’s what u make of it!

  2. Jennifer - jcd says

Mmmm, looks tasty! The whole ‘don’t eat after supper’ thing is ridiculous. Eat when you feel hungry, whatever the clock reads.

Some of our favourite night time snacks are homemade nutty nana (banana butter) ice cream or celery sticks with peanut butter (and sometimes raisins or chocolate chips).

  3. Sarahishealthy says

I adore those cookie dough babies and adore you for creating them.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of smooshing them into actual cookies! Why didn’t think of that???? Will get on it right away! 🙂 😉

  4. Ilana says

Considering I’m a serious night owl, the “no eating after 8pm” rule is like…what? to me. I eat dinner at 8 or 9 haha!

These days, my fave nighttime snack is a spoonful of chocolate butter dipped into peanut butter, and maybe some fruit (apple, banana, raisins..). It’s sheer perfection and a half. Also a cup of tea to go alongside, and I’m all set.

Right now my current fudge baby on the playlist is chocolate-peanutbutter-banana. Oh gosh I’m so happy.

  5. Mary says

I have to agree with Evelyn, above. My hand goes straight for the cereal at night. I don’t like it with milk at night, just straight from the box :).

  6. abby says

i used to be afraid of eating at night. but then i would go to bed hungry and my stomach would feel sooo horrible and i wouldn’t be able to fall asleep for hours!

  7. Megan says

I am all about the chocolate desserts at night. Sadly, the caffeine keeps me up, so I have to resort to non-chocolatey things. Boo hoo 🙁

  8. Jo says

I try not to eat after I finish my supper but bear in mind I probably won’t finish till nearly 9pm! And then I go bed very early (as I’m an early bed)… However if I did get hungry I would probably snack on some dried fruit or something or have a big cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows!!

  9. vegirl says

I don’t normally eat after dinner. If I go to bed full I have trouble sleeping and I wake up feeling lousy and not hungry. I have to eat before I leave the house every morning and eating on a not-hungry stomach is NO FUN.

  10. Valerie says

We’re way ahead of ya, Katie! In our household, we’ve been eating “fudge baby cookies” almost since the day you first posted ;). We love those babies so much!

  11. [email protected] says

i love that u mixed in generous raw chunks of chocolate in there! i love making raw cookie cuz of how quick they are to make! i would never say no to a raw cookie- never!! hehe <3

    have a gorgeous friday girl!

  12. I eat Food says

    Hey there Katie!
I just wanted to let you know that I made your high-protein chocolate brownie. It was so amazingly moist and rich, just like you said! And I couldn’t believe I could finish off the ENTIRE two-serving loaf for less than 300 calories. I sent you a photo. That’s soyatoo in the picture. I made chocolate art!
Thanks for everything you do. I’ve NEVER met a CCV recipe I didn’t love!

  13. Stefanie says

I like eating a peanut butter (now it is almond butter) sandwich before bed. It helps me sleep and keeps my blood sugar level through the night.

  14. Melissa says

I always make banana ice cream – or all-fruit sorbet – nights I’m home. I also make a single serving size bunch of fudge babies (current fav: Bahri dates, unsweetened coconut, cocoa) and put them in the freezer to get all chewy and caramelly.

The last couple nights I’ve been playing with doing a combo of your high protein brownie recipe blended with my own adaptation of Happy Herbivore’s single serving brownie. I posted the recipe to your wall on FB. 🙂

Last night’s was great! Fluffy enough, moist and DELISH. I don’t use oil or sugar (applesauce and stevia, ftw!) and use whole wheat pastry flour – so it’s a guilt free treat. 😀

  15. Kiersten says

My usual late night snacks are toast with nut butter, cold cereal, or oatmeal. I usually eat dinner between 6:30-7:00. There’s no way I’d be able to make it through the rest of the night without a snack.

  16. MsAlex says

I made cookie-dough babies this week and they’re delicious! Weirdly enough they were my end-of-day snack yesterday too.

(And now I’ve run out, so I have to make more this weekend.)

  17. Jenn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says

I can’t wait to see how you make Vita-Mix ice cream! I’ve been dying to try it in mine. 🙂

  18. Bianca- Vegan Crunk says

I don’t generally eat after 9 p.m. on weeknights…but my rule is no eating three hours prior to bedtime. So on weekends, I may eat at like midnight, but I may not go to bed to til 3 or 4 a.m. Unless I’m drunk, and then all rules are off …. when I’m drunk, I’ll eat french fries at like 3 a.m.

  19. Kady @ Livin, Lovin, Learnin says

I haven’t made fudge babies in way too long! I eat an early dinner (4-5pm) because it’s been 3-4 hours since lunch so I’m hungry! (a snack won’t cut it, I’ve tried). Anyway, I’m hungry for a large snack/small meal around 8pm so I usually have fruit, yogurt, and cereal. Sometimes I’ll make pancakes or have a sweet potato w/ almond butter and yogurt. It’s always something sweet though!

  20. spoonfulofsugarfree says

I always want food at night. I’m tired and hungry, and I just like crashing on the couch with a big bowl of popcorn! I love popcorn, and I love making it, too! I do the stovetop method, and sprinkle it with himalayan sea salt and nutritional yeast! Its really good cuz the yeast has a cheesy-nutty flavor.

  21. bitesandbliss says

I always eat after dinner. Sometimes I actually have a few snacks since I’ll get hungry a little while after and I need something right before bed otherwise I’ll wake up in the middle of the nigth starving. For my frist snack I’ll usually have a pizzert (no joke) and peanut butter, then fruit, then cottage cheese with something for just before bed. Those cookies look awesome! 😀

  22. Lindsey says

I’ll usually just eat candy if I get hungry late at night… That’s my one big food vice, candy. That includes chocolate though, and I do only eat good dark chocolate (except, I LOVE Ritter Sport marzipan bars!)
Occasionally, some cookies (healthier, and vegan cookies, not super-processed), or nuts (<3 cashews and almonds especially).

  23. shesarunner says

I’m usually not hungry for a night time snack! I eat a pretty late dinner because I’m an insomniac (yes, that’s something I’m working on fixing…it’s not easy!) and the way my schedule is, I tend to get home late on most days, so my body is used to eating a late dinner, which is usually filling but light (because I know heavy foods will just interfere with my sleep even more). Anyway, the food is filling enough that I don’t feel a need to eat again until breakkie, however…I might have to make an exception for some raw cookie dough babies because those look delicious! Or I’ll sneak them in as a day time snack.
I’ve been wanting to make your carrot cake macaroons for a while now, but I always forget to buy dates! The baby recipes all look so so good.
Have a great Friday night Katie!

  24. xthefinalcountdownx says

Those cookies look great :). My favorite nighttime snack is pretty much anything.. haha that’s my downfall if it looks good i’ll eat it, I don’t crave anything specif.

  25. Melissa @ For the Love of Health says

Yes- that insane rumor about nighttime eating is ridiculous! 🙂 I say eat when you are hungry! I don’t eat a snack every night but when my stomach says “feed me”, I say “okay stomach, hold on a second and let me find something great”
It definitely varies but fruit is always good or air-popped popcorn or dark chocolate or frozen yogurt or cereal…I could go on and on haha

  26. Christina says

I’m a random night time snacker. I don’t do it all the time but maybe like once a week. Ice cream is usually the culprit!

  27. Marianne says

I’ve never understood not eating in the evening. If dinner is at like, 6 pm, and you are up until 11 or 12, you are gonna be hungry. Many cultures don’t eat dinner until 9 pm or later, like in South America and Europe, and that doesn’t seem to harm them.

My fave evening snack is probably a chopped up apple and nut butter, but I’ll eat pretty much anything.

  28. BroccoliHut says

I am such a nighttime snacker–my whole family is really. Once it hits 9PM, we’re all hittin the kitchen for some nibbles. My favorite is obviously a fruit smoothie, but I’ve been known to stray to yogurt or hummus and crackers.

  29. Cynthia K says

It depends on what portion of the night for me. Before bed I love something sweet–like last night’s waffle/banana sandwich. But if I wake up hungry in the night, my favorite thing in the world is cold Chinese food, followed closely by cold Mexican food! Oh, it’s divine!
