4/21 EDIT:
I accidentally (and embarrassingly) linked the wrong post in today’s email… Please accept my sincerest apologies for this mistake on my part, and if you’re looking for the healthy cream cheese recipe, you can find the actual recipe here:
Nutrition Facts:
- Calories: 20 (Pillsbury’s has 75)
- Fat: 1.5 grams
- Carbohydrates: 0.5 grams
- Protein: 0.5 grams
- Sugar: 0 grams (Pillsbury’s has 11 grams)
Nutrition information is per tbsp. My cream cheese frosting recipe is also free of trans fats, which is important to note because many commercial frostings (including the Pillsbury one mentioned above) contain half a person’s recommended daily allotment in a single tablespoon!
Substitution Notes:
Whenever I post a recipe with tofu, the first question I always get is: How can I replace the tofu? To be honest, I don’t think you can make this recipe soy-free, since there’s soy in not only the tofu but also the cream cheese. You’d be better off making an entirely different frosting recipe. This is my favorite: Vanilla-Fudge Frosting.
Other substitution notes: I have only the recipe with Mori-Nu tofu, so I can’t say for sure how it’d turn out if you used firm tofu or soft tofu… but feel free to try, and please report back! Same thing if you want to use a different brand of cream cheese (such as Follow Your Heart).
