Baby-Making!

Fudge Baby-making, that is.
It all began with some walnuts, dates, a little cocoa powder…

Above, the originals:  Hot Chocolate Babies
.
What exactly is a fudge baby?

Fudge babies are raw chocolate truffles that taste super-decadent yet are actually healthy. It’s hard to believe something so good for you—high in fiber, with zero added sugars and unnatural ingredients—can taste so sinful.

They’re also easy to make and are less expensive than Jocalats, Larabars, and many other such chocolate bars.

Fudge Baby Mania!
For a list of all the flavors, see: Fudge Baby Flavors

At first, the original chocolate fudgies enjoyed a quiet nursery all to themselves.  But it wasn’t long before many screaming brothers and sisters started popping out. Nowadays, the nursery is quite crowded (not to mention loud), with the likes of Cookie Dough Babies, Peanut Butter Babies, and even flavored raw macaroons.

2. Mounds Bar Babies

3. Carrot Cake Macaroons

4. Raw Gingerbread People (spicy men and ladies!)
5. Pumpkin Pie babies

Yummy…I’d love some kind of mixture of coconut, dark chocolate, coffee, cherry, and nut butter (maybe macadamia?!). Hmmmmm….if it’s too many flavors together, I’d be happy with a couple different ones and just have half of each at a time. :)

Anna September 7, 2010 at 3:39 am

I love the pecan pie flavour and the peanut butter jam! I cant wait to try a coffee flavour and carrot cake and I agree with the previous post that there should be a cookies and cream as well as a tiramisu flavour!

I’d love it if they created a double chocolate cake larabar :) If they could find a way to compress as much chocolate as possible into that little tiny brick, I’d be a very happy girl!! <3

My favourite larabar flavour is probably apple pie. I’d like to see them make a chai flavoured bar though :)

Reply

The only flavor I have ever been able to try is the Key Lime and I was not a big fan – mostly because it wasn’t chocolate, vanilla, mocha, chai or cinnamon – any of which is much preferred over Lime!

I would love to try any of the new flavors of Lara bars – they all sound fantastic!

Thanks!

I’m in Argentina for the semester and down here it is tragic because NO ONE knows the beauty of peanut butter!!!! I came with a few jars myself but those are going to disappear dangerously fast.

Anyway – the Argentine obsession for a spread on EVERYTHING is Dulce de Leche – a lil’ bit different than caramel and maybe too sweet for many people’s liking but it is amazing with fruit, etc

SOOO some innovative Larabar flavor with Dulce de Leche – maybe with banana…or apple..some nuts??? Get a little South American flava ;)

I would love, love, love for them to make a dark chocolate espresso flavored Larabar. That would be beyond delicious. The only Larabar flavor I’ve ever actually tasted was the chocolate peppermint one. It was yummy :-)

I LOVE the peanut butter chocolate chip Larabar. I’m a recent vegan convert and it is almost like eating a Reeses. I know there are a lot of yummy vegan desserts that can be made at home but it’s nice to have something you can just grab and take with you.

I LOVE Larabar’s new flavor, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip. It reminds me of a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup but soooo much healthier. I wish that Larabar would make a chocolate banana flavor. That would be amazingly good!!

Hmm i think the PB&J might be my favorite as of right now…but I haven’t tried any of the new flavors yet! I can’t find them anywhere :[. I love the pumpkin spice idea for a larabar, considering I LOVEEEE everything pumpkin. I add it to everything as much as I can!!

My favorite flavor is Coconut Cream Pie one. I love Carrot cake flavor for anything, too so when I make my fudge babies, I mix coconut and carrot in them:)

From the few ones I’ve tried, I’ve gotta say I love the apple pie larabars the most! PB cookie comes in next though :D
I’d love to see them come up with something like a smore’s bar? Dunno how that’s gonna work with the dates though… but leave it to larabar to come up with amazing flavass using dates as a base!

Rachel Lubben September 11, 2010 at 6:37 am

Oh man, the chocolate chip brownie sounds amazing! ANYTHING with peanut butter, chocolate, wafers, caramel, butterscotch, oats, etc….and perhaps some key lime pie would be tasty (to throw a little fruit in there…hehe).

I LOVE the tropical fruit tart Larabar (which I’d love to see you recreate as a fudge baby using the same ingredients) but I’d love them to do a pumpkin pie flavor!

My favorite Larabar is pb & j for sure! And I always dreamed of pb and chocolate, and now that they have them I can’t find them on the West Coast. Sad town! But thanks to CCK I can always fudge baby it up and make my own :)

Oh my goodness, I was only introduced to the Larabar about 3 months ago and I can’t get enough now!!! I’ve discovered that Target and my local grocery store have them in Pittsburgh, but none of the new flavors! Mega sad face. I’ve only tried the apple pie, peanut butter and jelly, and cashew cookie. I’m literally salivating at the thought of peanut butter chocolate chip Larabars! Here’s hoping from one Katy to another Katie :)

Great Larabar giveaway, Katie!
If Larabar could make a new flavor, I would die if they made a Lemon-poppyseed muffin flavor! With a touch of Ginger…I would immediately swoop over to whole foods and scoop the display into my basket…
Anyways. I hate how muffins are now so unhealthy and always have eggs-what’s a vegan to do? Depend on Larabars to save the day!

Oh–and I almost forgot! Cranberry-orange Larabars! They would be TO. DIE. FOR.

I’ve never had a Larabar but since the holiday season is coming up i think a gingerman flavor would be neat!

Reply

Sünne September 12, 2010 at 9:57 pm

We don’t have Larabars over here … vegan bars in general are hard to get … bsigh!
I’d like to try an almond-banana fudge baby with a hint of orange zest and cinnamon added – it might sound like a weird combo but … well, I’d like to try it anyways!

My fave is Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. It rocks my face off. I would love to see them do a cheesecake flavor. I don’t even know if it could be done, but if anyone could, it’s the people at Larabar.

StephORama September 16, 2010 at 4:58 pm

My favorite Larabar is the peanut butter cookie and key lime pie. My dream flavor would probably probably be if they made a peanut butter and strawberry jelly flavor. Their current PB&J one uses cherries, which really grosses me out.
