I absolutely ADORE the Candle Cafe, in New York City (its sister restaurant, Candle 79, aint too shabby either!). This photo of my dinner does NOT do the restaurant justice (it’s in a to-go box because I ate it in the airport before going back to Texas). But it’s the only photo I managed to take.
So imagine, if you will, that this Ginger-Miso stir fry (with tempeh subbed for the tofu) is nestled in a pristine ceramic bowl, not this ugly black plastic thing. And please try to ignore the heinous spotted airport table in the background, too.
Oh, and you’ll have to use your imaginations once more because, sadly for you, I didn’t take a picture of the piece of chocolate mousse pie I devoured. Candle Cafe’s chocolate mousse pie is a must-try when you go.

Chocolate mousse pie *drools*
I think the stir-fry looks mighty tasty, just the way it is! 😉

my mother has the candle cafe’s cookbook, and just looking over the recipes makes me want to go there – I’m so jealous of you!

I’ve only been to Candle Cafe once, but I’ve been to Candle 79 several times and they’re both fantastic! I hope you got a chance to visit Teany, too. It’s one of my very favorite veg places in NYC.

Candle is my favorite restaurant in the world! I used to have the cookbook.
The used to make this Brownie Sundae
And I would seriously take about an hour to eat it because it was so good.
Don’t forget the BBQ sunday– looks like the weather is supposed to be perfect!

Now that I’m living so close to NYC, I can’t wait to hop down there to try out CC and C79. Despite the take out container, I think your dish looks delish!

I love miso and I love stir fry. It sounds fantastic and the picture still looks yummy despite the bowl and airport table. I am sad that there is no picture of mousse… Now that you’ve mentioned it, I want some!

Ah yes, visions of Chocolate Mousse Pie are dancing in my head!
I love my Candle Cafe cookbook….maybe someday I’ll make it up to the actual restaurant!

I just got the Candle Cafe cookbook! Any suggestions on what I should make first?
The Little Vegan says
Patrick, do you know about how many people are attending Sunday, so I can bring enough dessert?
Patrick says
I invited about 30 and I figure about 5 will show up teehee
Don’t worry about how much you bring(because I’m just going to eat it all myself!)

Candle Cafe is high on our list of restaurants to go to on our next visit to NYC, if we can tear ourselves away from Zenith! Last time we went, we ate at Zen Palace (midtown) and it was dee-lish! We will definitely have to check out Candle Cafe on your awesome recommendation!
