No! I don’t think you are talking about it too much.
If anything, I am really happy for the reminders because I KEEP FORGETTING to take my hug-a-fat photo shoot and write about this important subject in a blog post, which I really want to do. So thank you for reminding me!
You’re absolutely just the cutest thing. Seriously, does it hurt to be so cute?!! I *have* to try banana butter. Now. In fact, I’m gonna do it right now.
<3
You’re so talented! The card is great, and the peanut butter and bunny slippers are the icing on the cake.
Favourite benefit of good fats? Definitely the taste! They also help keep me full for long periods of time, which is great for those long days outside or big workouts. Yummy!
I’ve recently started upping my fat intake, and I’ve noticed that I have more energy, I’m less tired and I just feel all around better. I don’t know if it’s in my head of if it’s the fats, but I’m going with the fats. Plus, they taste sooo good.
I love the taste. I don’t care what people say, I think if they’re honest with themselves, they know that everything tastes better with a little fat. Like people who say stir frying with water tastes just as good? It DOES NOT! 🙂
Hi Katie,
Because of you and your blog you have introduced me to the Peanut Butter & Co. My favorites are White Chocolate Wonderful and Cinnamon Raisin. You have also introduced me to Artisana butters, love the cocoa bliss & coconut butter, and amazing grass as well as Living foods raw chocolate spreads. You are costing me too much money!!! I so enjoy eating all these “fats”! Love your blog!
Katie I love ya girl and love the card of you and the PB!!!!!!!! So cute!!!!!
I want to say that I really appreciate you doing this post about loving fats, it is so important to have for our bodies, god fats that is!! I think some people get scared of the word fat, I know I used to be, but now its all love!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay for hug a fat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will do a post about this soon, it is a fantastic idea. But, the main reason I love healthy fats (besides the obvious deliciosity) is because they make me feel SATIATED and full. If I eat a fat free meal, I am never full, and start looking for dessert, or round 2. If I get a big dosage of healthy fat than I am satisfied and full for a couple hours. Obviously fats are important for the brain signals linked to satiety, yet another reason why they are so important!
It is also key to note that satisfied and full are completely DIFFERENT things. You can be stuffed and not satisfied and want to eat something else to finally ‘do it.’ And you can be not very full at all and completely satisfied!
i love hug a fat and banana butter sounds yummy too especially with chocolate. cant wait to see your chocolate photos of your hugging your dark chocolate dreams! xoxoxo
when i wasn’t eating enough fat, i lost my period :(. now i am eating more fat and i am a young woman again instead of a little girl! 🙂 and my bones are protected too.
Nicole,
Hi!! *Waves*
Please give my apologies to your wallet 🙁
I know how expensive these addictions can get to be! My wallet’s not too happy with me either.
But thanks for the sweet comment! Happy Friday!
My favorite healthy fat HAS to be avocado, especially in the form of homemade guacamole (or my vegan Mexican dip which is heaven sent). Ever since I started eating avocados, my hair has been the healthiest it’s ever been! Soft, and shiny and healthy. It’s very exciting.
Katie! I hope you don’t think I’m a creepster, lol, but I’m in Dallas! I have a ballroom dance competition here this weekend at the Double Tree Galleria, so I just thought that was cool. 🙂
Thanks for the reminder about the fat post. I’ve been meaning to write one, but I keep forgetting lol. I need to take my picture too, but which fat to hug?
Btw, my favorite brand of PB is the organic creamy 365 kind too. It’s so good!
Hi
I love your blog- you are so optimistic and excited about everything! Plus your recipes look fun to make (and delicious).
I have added a post to my blog about healthy fats (my fave is peanut butter); http://runningcupcake.co.uk/2010/05/healthy-fats/
I only get dissapointed that half the products you have are not available in the UK!
Fat has done wonders for my hair! Back in my ED days, my hair was tragically dull and fell out in clumps. I like to think that it has fully recovered now thanks to my nut butter habit:)
haha i love anon’s comment above. it’s about being healthy in your OWN BODY!!!
anyways, i love fat because it keeps me satiated! ps i started eating a lot more vegan foods/meals and i swear to god my nails are growing so fast now (i love your pink nail color! my fav!)
Oooh I need to go hug a fat. Maybe when I’m a little more… photogenic (post bike ride helmet hair = not hot). My fave thing about fat is that they make me feel FULL! And not in the “ooof I’m stuffed” way, but the “ah, I don’t need more food” way.
Cute cartoon Katie! Did you draw that?
And I have twp questions. Are you going to put every picture up that you receive? And can we put a drawing of us hugging a fat and link it to you?
Miho,
Thank you so much, Miho! Yes I did draw her. I love drawing cartoonish figures because I’m not too good with making people look life-like, so with cartoons, it’s ok because they’re not supposed to! 😉
For your second q:
If you do a hug-a-fat post, I’ll feature (on my blog) every photo you want included…well, not if you post 100 photos lol. But some people have two or three, and that’s completely cool.
And for your third q: YES! I’d love to see your drawing! And if you’d rather I link/feature the drawing (or if you want me to feature a photo and the drawing too), I’ll be happy/excited to do so!
If any of that didn’t make any sense, let me know. It’s kinda early, and my brain just woke up ;).
i love guacamole 🙂 oh yes! i think i ate like 20 avocados total in my 4 days in mexico. haha. my bf told me that my hair is sooo much softer and shinier now that i’ve started eating fats. woo hoo 🙂
ps. anon – don’t hate that katie is healthy and athletic and has a naturally high metabolism. clearly she eats fats. do you see the loving she gets from her coconut oils? stupid people…i swear!
this is such a good idea. When I started recovering from my eating disorder, it took so long to get over my fear of fats…but as soon as I did I was physically just so much healthier – especially my skin and hair! Amazing stuff.
Avocados are possibly one of my favourite things ever 🙂 xxxx
Jealous much, Roxy?
Katie, don’t pay them any attention. Just the fact that you’re getting anon comments like that shows how popular you are! They don’t take the time to bother writing on the little blogs, it seems.
I don’t blame them for being jealous of you; you’re amazing. Even just in this post: cute drawing, healthy nails, beautiful writing style, great sense of humor, and we all know how gorgeous you are both inside and out. So don’t take any of the negativity to heart!
Hi Katie! Sorry to hear that some folks are unkind to you. Even though we know they’re wrong, it can still be hurtful. Clearly, you have a lot of fans, and I am happy for you if your efforts contribute to the try-new-fats fund. 🙂 Also, thanks for being generous in sharing the love– the link that you featured to my sticky bun recipe fueled a lot of hits! I think that you’re very gracious, on top of being a talented blogger. Thanks!
Dear Katie,
I’ve been reading your blog for a while, I love it& your happy happy smiles to bits. What a gorgeous card you made. One of my favourite sources of fat include sesame oil and nuts. But I definitely love carbs more, haha.
Katie, loving your blog! I used to struggle with weigh gain and I wish I’d found this place earlier.
And ignore the trolls like anonymous – one or two rude comments is NOTHING comapred to the hundres of happy comments from your avid readers and fans of yours, so keep up the great work and decadent( but not!) recipes! 🙂
My fav fats are of course peanut butter (does it count if enrobed in chocolate?) and avocado! If I had either of those here I’d be hugging them for you.
Hi Katie, I almost never comment on your blog, but I read it often and use your recipes, so I wanted to show my support..especially after seeing those hurtful comments. I can only imagine how maddening and frustrating this must be, but I must say that I totally admire your attitude about it. You responded with so much grace, kindness and dignity..we all know who is the moral winner here.
