My Blogging Tips: Part Two

Part Two: Blogging Tips

Click if you missed Part One: How to write a successful blog.

The second part in the blogging series pertains to a blog’s specific message or theme. When people ask me for tips on writing a successful blog, this is one of the things I stress: Make sure you have a clear understanding of your own blog!

Can you guess what my blog is about?

Did you say something along the lines of healthy dessert recipes?

Recipes such as my Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes.

What is your blog about?

1. There are thousands (millions?) of blogs out there. What makes your blog unique? What would make readers want to come back? If readers are unclear about your blog’s purpose, they won’t know whether or not they’ll enjoy future posts and thus might not feel compelled to return.

2. If your blog’s purpose is to hold yourself accountable for what you ate or to help organize your thoughts, and you therefore don’t care if no one else ever reads, it’s perfectly fine to post without rhyme or reason. However, even if you don’t want more readers, knowing your blog’s purpose can help you to understand what types of posts you love writing the most.

For example: In my own journey to find my blogging voice, I experimented with the style of “this is what I ate” posts. But I wasn’t having fun with it. When I took a good look at the posts I most enjoyed writing (the posts I couldn’t wait to publish), they were all dessert posts! So I decided, “If this is what I really love, why am I not only writing these posts? Why waste my time creating posts on subjects for which I have no passion when I could be publishing my favorite posts every single day?”

How to figure out your blog’s theme:

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What makes your blog unique?
  • Fill in the blank: My blog is about __________.
  • What are the reasons you blog? Why does your blog exist?
  • What can people expect to find when they read your blog?

For example, when readers click on my blog, they can expect to find a good-for-you dessert recipe that tastes downright naughty.

chococakeshake1

Like Healthy Milkshakes.

Lately it seems I could write an entirely new blog based solely upon the theme of bean-dessert recipes.

blonde

Such as the Chocolate Chip Blondies.

What is your blog about?

Or, if you had a blog, what would it be about? Recipes? Fitness? Family? A “what I ate” diary? A combination of some of these? What are your favorite subjects to post about?

Once again, if you missed it, here’s part one: Tips for Food Bloggers

My blog is about chocolate – and that can be chocolate bars I taste, events I go to, get togethers that involve chocolate, recipes…whatever I want, as long as chocolate is there somehow. It helps to have a blog about a topic you Loooooooove

  2. katie @KatieDid says

interesting things to think about. I agree that when blogs are too all over the place I tend to get lost or lose interest. That’s what I’m struggling with a bit with my blog. Mine really is snapshots of my everyday, with lots of recipes, photography, and nature. But it’s not super specific, I think I’m okay with that though!

  3. Jamie aka "Sometimes Healthy" Girl says

Katie these are great tips! Thanks so much for sharing. I too had a hard time with the whole meals post thing. I also had to figure out how to keep with my theme while working some insane hours here at my PR firm.

So, my blog is about trying to live healthy but embracing (and even laughing at) the slip-ups and the pitfalls on that healthy journey.

I blog because I am passionate about two things: writing and living healthy – thus my blog is the perfect solution to getting to do what I’m passionate about every day! 🙂

People can expect to find posts about my attempts at being healthy in everyday life but also posts about my failures at being healthy and how I learn to laugh at those failures, get back up and have some fun!

  4. Qi Ting @ Misadventures of Fat free Baking says

Mine’s a blog about my self-concocted/adapted fat-free and healthy dessert recipes.
Though I don’t eat fat free, I’m very curious about baking fat free and whether its possible or not! A few months after starting my blog, I found yours! I was super curious about how YOU could manage the amazing feat of healthy, delicious and simple dessert recipes! And quickly got “addicted” to your recipes.
I blog because I want to share what I have made and make new friends! 😀

  5. Sara (The Veggie Eco-Life) says

Like I said on twitter, my blog is about veggie food, ecological living and gardening. I do like to write posts about food the most, but I love to take pictures from the garden and while I’m researching some good tips for ecological living, I might as well share them with the rest of the world (or those two readers my blog has :p)

  6. Leslie says

If I had a blog… Oh it would probably be about chocolate, and all the CCK recipes I make! Seriously, I hardly ever open a cookbook anymore. If I’m hungry, I just go straight for your blog!

  7. Victoria @ Pursuit of Hippieness says

I’m just getting started and finding my “blog voice”, so this post was perfect inspiration for me! Basically, my aim is to document my journey to a happy and natural life, with an emphasis on healthy eating, exercise, and trying new things. But it’s hard to make sure that it’s not all over the place and that viewers will be compelled to follow!

  8. Ragnhild says

    Great post Katie!!
I started my blog so I could see (hopefully :P) some progress in my eating habits. Having an ED in the past, I have had (and still are) so many rules around food- and they all such the energy out of me! I want to be free. I found so much inspiration in other blogs, so I wanted to start my own. Writing my feelings down often helps me think clearer.
Have a good day sweety :**

  9. Jenny says

If I had a blog, I probably would blog about science and medicine! Strange? I don’t know… I wish I could blog about recipes… Creating is always fun, but I seem to be doing that all the time anyway. I’m too impatient to take pictures and write recipes down! I get really caught up and interested in discussions and debates about science, though. 😛

So thoughtful of you to share blogging tips with others! They may seem like obvious tips, but I think a lot of people actually forget to think about all of the things you mention. Actually, even amateur writers do – as in, authors and essayists. Descriptiveness and the like is nice, sure, but there’s a rule in writing stories that I find actually applies almost everywhere in the world of writing: every sentence should propel the story forward – or one sentence in every four, if you’re stretching it.

    Have a great Tuesday. 🙂

  10. Emily @ Glitz Glam Granola says

Thanks for the great tips Katie! As I new blogger, I love reading tips from bloggers I really admire! I think your blog is absolutely fantastic and is devoted to a great topic! Not to mention how tasty all your recipes are…

My blog is really about living a healthy lifestyle. I talk about food (both healthy and decadent) and about my life. I place an emphasis on health but I think that life is meant to be enjoyed which is why my tagline is “living a healthy life with a little sparkle.” I love life and want my readers to come to my blog to read about health and wellness but in a happy, balanced way!

  11. Aja says

That’s great advice. I recently struggled with that, but then I figured that my blog is about my life going through school, recovery, and whatever else happens to come my way.

  12. Allison @ Happy Tales says

great tips, Katie! I think it’s really important for people to find their true “voice” and blog about what inspires them, not just what they “feel” they shoould blog about because that’s what all the bog-name bloggers are doing.

I know for myself I don’t blog everyday. But my blog is more of a “life-casting” blog… so things have gotta happen first for me to blog about! Otherwise it’d just be boring same-old work-school-sleep stuff, and noone wants to read that (heck, I don’t even want to write about that!). So i write when I’m inspired. And feel no guilt for that. Blogging is fun for me and never feels like a chore because of that, and now I’m creating my own “virtual scrapbook” to document my life! It’s a win-win.

  13. Jen says

My blog mainly serves as a place for me to write about food and my healthy lifestyle. Other than that, I can’t really pinpoint a theme. When I used to have my vegan blog, it got a lot more traffic, because I devoted a lot of time to it. I think that’s definitely a key in making a blog successful. I haven’t spent as much time on this blog, or worked very hard on it, but I have a goal to start putting in more effort. I’ve been following your blog since my vegan days, and still have it on my Google Reader today! 🙂

  14. Emma (Sweet Tooth Runner) says

AWESOME tip Katie!! When I started my blog, I dabbled in everything trying to find what I should post about! And now I just blog about the things I am PASSIONATE about, so running, fitness, yummy CCK food and LIFE in general!! 😀

  15. Dawn @ Blonde on a Mission says

Katie, you ARE a piece of chocolate. Sweet, yet naughty at the same time. Your innuendos crack me up 😀

And my blog is my outlet to share things I am truly passionate about. I have always been a foodie, so I love posting my dinner recipe creations, desserts (created by me, but mostly inspired by you!) and what I do to exercise.

    • Chocolate-Covered Katie says

Aww that makes me so happy :).
I really need to do a post about what I mean when I say things like “healthy tastes naughty.” People sometimes take it the wrong way, thinking I’m saying that not-so-healthy treats are evil… but really I mean “naughty” more like “sexy” or “risque.” But lol I think writing “Making healthy taste sexy” on my blog header might be a little too… naughty? 😉

      • Dawn @ Blonde on a Mission says

LOL. I love it the way it is. And it might take up too much space to say “Where healthy feels like you’re overindulging but really you’re benefiting your body from eating some of the most delicious desserts I’ve created”………. haha

  16. Veganhorsewoman says

My blog started out all over the place, and to be honest it’s still kind of all over the place. But really it’s just bits and pieces from my life that I’ve put together in an attempt to prove i can be vegan, and ride horses.

  17. Jeska says

Mine’s not so much a blog as a website- it’s a support site for people that want somebody to talk to/ that feel alone… it can take ages sometimes to narrow down exactly what you want your blog/site etc to be about- plus they change constantly, you know? 😀 I really love the advice here, Katie, thank you! x

  18. carissa says

Hey Katie! Thanks for the blogging tips! I am a “newer” blogger and im always looking for ways to improve. My blog theme is about healthy eating and living. My husband and I are both personal trainers and im studying to be a dietitian so health is a part of our life. I want to share with others how to make healthy choices and still enjoy food and life!

  19. Kate (Bread & Chocolate) says

My blog is about style – and all of the things you’d want to share with your girlfriends (food, art, travel, fashion, and interior design). I still feel “new” to blogging, so I really appreciate these tips. And all of your chocolate treats, of course!

  20. Tichina Beaton says

My blog is a place I’ve created to document my life; I want to share with others what I have eperienced and am curretly experiencing. I hope to insipire and get inspired in return from my readers. I’m aspiring to be the best girl I can possibly be and want to have fun in the process…life’s a journey that I’m on and I just had to have my “blogging pals” join me! In saying this the topics I generally cover are those that mean the most to me, and those I’m likely to encounter on a day-to-day basis; health, fitness, friends, relationships, random funny thoughts whatevers peeking my interest that day!

  21. Abby says

Great post, Katie! I don’t have a blog, but I’ve thought about starting one. When I get a free chance, I’m going for it! And I’m bookmarking this post and your other one so I can have some guidance. It seems like such a complicated process, figuring out whether you want wordpress or blogger, setting up a facebook page, putting up a title picture thing. I don’t even know what you’re supposed to CALL the title picture thing, let alone how to put one up!

  22. Emily says

I wish I’d read this MONTHS ago! I kept thinking I had to make my blog like others blogs, and so I’d write post after post about fitness and things I just wasn’t interested in writing! Now I’m going to focus more on what I truly love. Who cares if I never post about my fitness routine? There are plenty of other blogs out there that do, if a reader wants to read about fitness.
Thanks for this post, Katie :).

    • Chocolate-Covered Katie says

Oh man, if they’d asked me to speak, I would’ve done so in a nanosecond! That would’ve been the greatest honor ever, only reserved for awesome people like… wait, YOU! 😉
I really wish I was going! (But I KNOW that we are gonna meet up someday. That has got to happen. And then you will feed me mac and cheeze from your best-selling cookbook and I will be a happy camper.)

    • Erika K. says

I’m with one of the commenters above. I kinda wish I had a blog right now. It sounds so fun. But it also seems like it’s time consuming, so I dunno.
If I had one, I’d probably have it be a collection of running stories, recipes, and maybe talk about my daily life too.

  23. faith @ lovelyascharged says

Mine in a nutshell would be healhy, balanced choices to undo years of disordered eating…and as if today, cholesterol-conscious meal planning!

  24. chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says

I feel like what my blog is about changes from day to day. It’s always about living a healthy lifestyle, where it’s with tips, recipes, motivation, review, etc. I think a great tip is to not try to mimick anyone else and go with what YOU can offer!

    • Rika says

      Love this advice!
So many blogs seem to be trying to be someone else, just to be more popular. I sometimes fall into that trap too. I have to remind myself to post about what I like, not what’s necesarrily more popular or what the bigger bloggers are writing about!

  25. Amanda Jewell says

Great tips Katie! I love waking up everyday excited to see what sinful (yet healthy) dessert you’ve concocted. 🙂
My blog is about finding balance in a life of veganism and fitness while overcoming my PCOS, past ED, and abusive home.

  26. Renée says

    Good tip!
I’m still working on my theme, I recently did a complete 180 in the theme of my blog.

Now, it’s about art and music, and on occasion maybe I’ll post a recipe, but it started out as a health food blog featuring art and music.
I’m glad I changed it though, I like it much better that way.

  27. Ellie@fitforthesoul says

you’re such a sweetie and so encouraging to peepz Katie!! 😀 This is a really interesting series actually~and although I’m not crazy focused on one subject, I’m pretty sure I know what I like to write/post about…? Basically, my thoughts and words from God (spiritual), fun or healthy recipes (food), and some fitness. I always say that to be fit in every way possible, we first must be transformed within our hearts. Hope to learn a lot from you Master Katie! hahah just kidding.

  28. Ellen says

My blog is Scrumptious Gruel. It’s the food I make which rarely looks amazing(like gruel!) but tastes great(scrumptious!) I almost always cook from cookbooks and write about how I adapt the recipes to fit my tastes. The blog is still finding it’s groove, but I have fun playing in the kitchen and try to keep my posts funny.

  29. Sarahishealthy says

As an avid blogreader, I’m just having fun reading all these comments, seeing what OTHERS’ blogs are about! I’ve discovered a few new ones today, just by being interested in what they say their blogs are about :).

  30. bitt of raw says

I like blogs that have a bit of variety, as yours does but are fairly focused. The only downside to posting a lot of desserts is that people accuse you of eating nothing but dessert. Or, well, not eating them. But they do get a lot of attention.

  31. Carrie says

yay i LOVe your tips!! what is mine about?… VERyyy difficult! its not a recipe blog… not a food blog… i just share my life really! focusing on my workouts and eats isuppose!!

  32. Moni'sMeals says

Nice post! I think there is much to think about when starting a blog and I like how you got your great points across. Good guidance and you are right, you are the healthy dessert queen. 🙂

My blog is about Health, Fitness, and Amazing Recipes that are good for you but that taste amazing too. I started it for my Clients mainly but now it is for the whole world! hehe. 🙂

  33. Anna says

I started my blog so that my family and friends could follow my adventures my last year of college, especially as I moved for student teaching and started job searching. It has become an outlet for me and I found that cooking/baking is a stress reliever for me and I love sharing what I found or experimented with. I am still working on what my blog voice is and am okay with that. I am a little random so why wouldn’t my blog be? I am excited to see what happens over this summer and fall as I get ready and start my first teaching job 🙂

  34. Charissa says

Aw, this is fun! Thank you for doing this…it’s so true…we need to be blogging what we love! I can tell you pour your love into your blog too! Love it!

  35. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says

    Great post, Katie!

I think finding a blogging voice and finding out what sets ones blog apart from the millions of blogs and websites out there is key!

What is my blog about? = good question 🙂

I post recipes but also life/family tidbits, and some fitness/yoga too. I cannot keep up with the sheer workload of being a recipe blogger, i.e. recipe development, making all that food, photographing/editing it all, posting it all…each and every recipe post I do takes HOURS as you well know there is sooooo much involved.

So that’s where the life stuff posts come in 🙂

  36. Katherine says

My blog is about finding my way back to be happy with food 🙂

BTW, I really want you to do one of those “what I ate today” post. Just one. I am so interested 😛

  37. Kristen @ The Red Velvet Life says

Awesome post, Katie! As you know, *j’adore* your blog and recipes — you’re such an inspiration! My blog is about my life as a Texas girl in California — I’m a new attorney and a new wife, and I’m trying to eat clean and figure out my food intolerances without depriving my body of what it needs. Whew, that’s a lot to cover! I’m just having fun with it for now, and hopefully over time it will take a more definitive shape. To me, the key is enjoying it and connecting with people who inspire me. You inspire me, and I LOVE writing posts — so I’d say things are going a-ok so far. 🙂

    Thanks for always inspiring, Katie!

  38. Mary @ Bites and Bliss says

Mine’s definitely more of a healthy living kind of thing. Daily food, recipes, random musings..anything goes!

  39. Cait's a Runnerchick says

thanks so much for continuing the blogging tips series! i’ve been struggling finding my own voice and establishing a clear, or more focused, direction for my blog. I know I shouldn’t do it, but I keep comparing mine to others that I see, and then feel like mine is just lame. I’m too boring to post cool life things, I’m not able to come up with amazing recipes, and I don’t want to just posting up what I ate every day. I do know I love to write about health, fitness, and running and I also love art. So I’m still sort of trying to hone down the focus, thanks for the questions and i’ve got to do some thinking! 🙂

  40. Bekah says

Terrific post! I’m just in the process of starting a blog, and this is going to be really helpful. Your awesome, Katie :).

  41. Carey @ Positively Blonde says

This was immensely helpful, especially for someone who is new to blogging, like me! Thanks for the tips!

  42. Ann Claire says

Thanks for the great tips! I think my focus on my blog has been shifting lately. It used to be all about healthy eating, now it’s more focused on yummy food!

  43. Sarah says

I’m such a combo blogger! My blog kind of jumps from topic to topic.. whatever is going on in my life at the moment. It keeps me interested and it makes blogging fun to know I can change my posts any given day

  44. Katy sparrow says

Thanks for your great tips part 2, katie!! Totally insightful. I have really been thinking about blogging in a way that I really enjoy to do it like you said last time and now would like to keep that in mind while also caring a bit about what readers are getting out of it!

And i had my first blog comment today from someone who wasnt a personal friend! Milestone! haha.. totally thrilling!

  45. BroccoliHut says

I would say that my blog’s tagline pretty much sums up what my blog is about–it’s about celebrating good health through food:)

  46. Kristin @ STUFT Mama says

Ha! This is too funny. I was just sitting here trying to figure out exactly what to write about tonight. My blog is a little all over the place (but so is my life). It’s a little fitness and exercise, recipe creations, healthy ideas for toddlers, weight issues talk, etc. I’m still a little new to the blogging world, so I’m sure I’ll figure out a system that works. It’s hard for me to focuse on one thing and it really shows in my blog. Oops!

    • Kristin @ STUFT Mama says

Maybe I should add that my main purpose of my blog was to document my journey to balance everything in life. My friend told me today that she loves reading it because it makes her feel like she’s not the only crazy one who thinks about all this stuff. Hmmm…. I wonder if that was a compliment???? ha ha ha! Love your blog. Keep posting! I need to order some coconut butter and stevia drops so I can try some of your recipes!!!! 🙂 PS- I don’t know if you remember my comment on your post about not wearing make-up about my eyes getting a rash from using old eye shadow. Just wanted to update you (because I’m sure you’ve been thinking about it- jk) that my rash finally went away and my eyelids are no longer peeling (and the eye shadow is now in the trash). Ha ha ha! Now I just have huge bags under my eyes from lack of sleep.
      LOVE YOUR BLOG!!!!!

      • Chocolate-Covered Katie says

Oh I do remember your comment! LOL I even remember my reply to it. I was comforted to know that I’m not the only one who uses old makeup… and then I was also thinking maybe I should throw mine away! 😉

(P.S. I hear you on the bags… there’s a bird outside my window this spring that is making sleep impossible! Ugh.)

  47. Foxy says

My blog is primarily about belly dance and performing, secondly about food, and thirdly as a sounding board for the random thoughts in my head! 🙂

  48. Damjana says

My blog is about wholesome treats, nomen est omen 🙂 They are 99% vegetarian, sometimes vegan, always tasty. I don’t publish dishes which look good but didn’t impress me with the taste. Also I don’t post eats which look bad but taste fine – I’d rather wait to get another, better picture and then publish it. I rarely write about running but this is going to be a topic to add in July 🙂
Bean recipes are so great! I love making dishes with white beans, soy beans and garbanzo beans – I hide them in dishes instead of wheat or grains. I profit fibre and protein and the taste is great too.

  49. Leslie Paquette says

I don’t have a blog but could certainly see myself doing one in the future. If I had a blog now it would probably focus on all different types of food from healthy salads to dessert since I enjoy it all 🙂 I made you Tiramisu Fudge Babies for my mom yesterday and they came out delish. I realized after I started making them that I’d run out of almond extract so I subbed hazelnut extract. Hmm, maybe they were more like Ferrero Rocher Babies…haven’t had one of those in years. Also am following your instructions to cook a Kabucha squash since last time I made one it came out really dry. Pretty sure I overcooked it, oops! I plan to make Kabucha soup with it as soon as my Vitamix arrives. It is on the truck just waiting to be delivered to me, woohoo!!

    • Chocolate-Covered Katie says

It’s probably not your fault! Some kabochas are just super-dry! It’s annoying, actually… you never know when you buy it if it’ll be good or not. I’ve had really awful ones and really terrific ones. A good rule of thumb is to get one that feels heavy for its size, but you can still end up with a not-so-good tasting squash. But its worth it, because they are SO good when you get a good one!

And Ferrero Rocher babies sound incredible!

  50. Karina says

hey katie! i just started a blog and i was wondering….how do you make a link back to another website? like say i post one of your delicious recipes and want to write “thanks to chocolate cover katie!” so that people can click on it and take them to your website?

    • Chocolate-Covered Katie says

      Hi Karina,
It looks like you have a wordpress blog… so when you’re writing a post, there’ll be a little icon at the top of the page that looks like a chain link (next to another one that looks like a broken chain link). Highlight the words you want to link, then click on the chain icon, and just paste whatever url you want into that icon. 🙂

  51. Jess@atasteofconfidence says

I like to think my blog is mainly about body image with a little lifecasting thrown in. I really like having an outlet for the part of my mind that notices things and wants to help people that are struggling with body image.

  52. kaila @ healthy helper! says

    Love this Katie! Thank you!

My blog is about my life as a TEEN who is passionate about health! I am definitely a minority in my community with respect to healthy living so I love sharing my passion with the blog world.

  53. Miriam @ Sometimes I Veg says

Hi Katie, thank you so much for your amazing blogging tips. I have a question that you may be able to address in a future post. How do you publicize your blog, as in finding readers?

Thank so much and thank you for being such an inspiration!

    • Chocolate-Covered Katie says

Hi Miriam! The #1 thing I recommend to anyone who asks: comment comment comment on other sites! If you don’t comment on others’ sites, no one in the blogworld will know your site exists. True, I don’t really comment much on other sites anymore, but that’s because: 1. I don’t want to be unfair, and with so many people commenting on my site, I could never comment equally on all of theirs. And 2, I just don’t have time. But in the beginning, I commented a lot. Also, having a twitter account is a good idea. I dragged my feet about that for so long. Other than that, I guess I’m not the best person to ask… most of my readers seem to find me, not the other way around, which is good because I am still pretty clueless when it comes to social media! I guess, just write from your heart, and it might take time, but people will start to see your passion! 🙂

  54. Aine @ Something to Chew Over says

Thanks for these tips Katie, my blog is just a baby at the moment so I’m finding my way still.

My blog is about sharing my favourite recipes which I’ve created to fit with my tight budget, healthy lifestyle and coeliac boyfriend. A bit of a mish-mash! 🙂

  55. Lauren Williams says

Thanks for the tips! I just started my own food blog this summer, so it’s definately a learning process! My blog is all about simple photographs, with few words. Let the food speak for itself!

  56. Robbie says

Hi Katie, First af all, I love your blog and all of your recipes! Congratulations. It’s a success!
I need a little help. I’m just starting my food blog and I’d like to know if you have any tips about how to ‘spread the word’ about it. Like i guess ‘pomote it?’ Are there any websites or maybe other blogs where I should paste my page lik or anything? How do I actually get people to see it’s there?
    Many thnks in advance.
    Kind regards xx

    • Chocolate-Covered Katie says

      Hi Robbie,

The biggest thing you can do to promote your blog in the beginning is to comment a ton on other blogs! If you don’t comment on other blogs, no one will know yours exists! But if you comment on other blogs, showing geniune interest, you can become part of the community :).

      Twitter also helps too!

  57. Sonya says

My blog is about losing weight, exercising and staying motivated. I was a morbidly obese person and I’m very close to getting to my goal weight. My young boys are loving your recipes and I’m enjoying making them for my boys to eat. I’m big into eating healthy AND yummy foods that are easy to make and your recipes have it all. I also love the single serving recipes as if I had a tray of cupcakes on the counter I couldn’t stop at just one. Now I get to have my cake and eat it too 🙂

As a side note I just read your about page and I must say it’s ‘funny’ in a way that everyone focuses on weightloss and you were battling with trying to gain weight. I have never heard of that before or that it was or can be a problem (other than perhaps someone with an ED etc…). I applaud you for sharing that with everyone. While I’m on the other end of the spectrum I can certainly relate to some of the feelings you were having in relation to reactions from people. I’ve found that I’ve gotten to a much healthier weight some people are telling me to not lose any more etc….
We’ll sorry for the long posting 🙂 Keep up this amazing blog!!!! I love the healthy ingredients and not the use of ‘franken foods’.

Aww, thank you so much, Sonya!!

I hate that people feel the need to comment on others’ appearance or eating habits… I think people need to focus on themselves more, and stop worrying about others. We all need to take care of ourselves! 🙂

I think I want my blog to be mostly about urban gardening, with some casual recipes and occasional insights on my personal health journey.

    Hi Katie!
I’ve been slowly blossoming into a foodie over the past few years and I was thinking about starting up a food blog (my friends and parents convinced me). I’m still a little nervous, but reading your blog inspired me and has given me confidence (I read your blog every day!). The biggest problem is that I’m in high school (junior year *sigh*), so I’m afraid that I’m not going to have time to whip up a new recipe, take pictures, edit them, and have a well written article. I would love some tips as I start this insane journey. Thanks 🙂

I think this post is fantastic. My blog is similar to yours, I’m just more a cheese-aholic, than a chocolate 🙂 I love sharing with the world that healthy food can be delicious, and I think you are amazing at it!

I’m really interested in starting a blog! I just have a few questions:
    1. How often do you take photos?
    2. Do you edit your photos on your laptop or phone?
    3. What do you use (apps) to edit your photos?
    4. What website did you use to create this blog?
Please respond as you are a huge inspiration to me and I strive to someday have a blog like yours and be successful!
