The Best Iced Coffee Recipe – How To:

  • Step One: Brew coffee as you normally would.
  • Sep Two: Mix in sugar/sweetener of choice – Use the type and amount you’d normally stir into iced coffee.
  • Step Three: Pour coffee into an ice cube tray, and freeze.
  • Step Four: Place 5-8 coffee ice cubes into a glass (more = stronger), then pour a glass of milk (I like Silk cashewmilk) over the top. Watch as the two magically mix together for a delicious and non-watery homemade iced coffee!

*For a frozen twist, try blending the frozen coffee ice cubes with your milk of choice instead of simply stirring together. Hello instant Frappuccino!

    Sounds easy and delicious. I wonder if you put the cubes in a blender with the milk if it would make it slushy? I’ll have to give that a try. Love iced coffee.

      I use my magic bullet for this all the time. I bought a thermos and now take iced coffee to work. Defrost a little in microwave and zap up in batches with magic bullet. I make a whole pot of coffee add skim milk powder and sugar to taste, freeze in cube trays and transfer to ziplocks when frozen and start all over again for a steady supply…..so good!

    Iced coffee is my absolute favorite! Since we have an ice maker, we don’t have any ice cube trays at home. This makes me want to get some though!

    I’m really glad you posted this recipe/tips for making iced coffee, because I had heard about putting brewed coffee into ice cube trays, but wasn’t actually sure of what to do from there. This is an excellent tip and one I will definitely be following!

    Hey Katie,
    Love this idea and have it many times in the past but such a chore to get the ice cubes out…any thoughts? Not liking the idea of spraying Pam. Maybe I need a special (or just different) ice cube tray. Having a ice maker, I just grabbed cheap ones at the Dollar Store…
    And what’s UP with iced coffee as a recipe?? Where’s the CHOCOLATE!! HEHE oops see the squares below it…phew they look great with iced coffee!

    I have tried this recipe and I think its a great idea. the only thing is that the milk is at fridge temperature and the ice cubes wont melt fast enough. next time I am going to microwave the milk and then put the iced coffee cubes in.

    i went through an iced tea phase a few years ago and I used to do the same thing! I’d freeze the tea so my iced tea wouldn’t get diluted.

    I do love iced coffee too, I should give this a try!

    Okay. So delicious non the less. However, it is June, and my ice cubes hardly melted in my soy milk. Gah! I drank it anyway. They were still not melted by the time I got to work 40 minutes away. So the ice cubes were in the milk for an hour… It still tasted good, and I will probably try again. It tasted more like coffee milk. This morning after Carmel Gavalia almond milk ice coffee, I went for blending this one. Again, coffee milk flavored slush. Gah! Sorry for all the Gah!s. Either I need stronger coffee or there’s something wrong with me. I will be trying again none-the-less.

    I love this recipe! I’ve been using this for so long now that I’ve sadly gotten bored with it a little:( but I know you love adding banana to your recipes so I thought I’d share a little trick I like to add! Instead of sweetener I put almond milk into the cube tray and then when those are frozen I blend those along with cold brewed black coffee and a frozen banana! It gives it a thicker Starbucks-frappachino like texture and tastes great!

    Would this work for bulletproof coffee?? Anyone have ideas about how to use this method for BP? Whenever I put my mixture over ice it melts so fast and gets watery!! But I drink it any way!!

    I’ve tried this before, but I put in cream instead of sugar for mine, but make the sugar laced one for friends and family who like it sweet. My problem is the ones with sugar stay sticky and even a bit soft even after being fully frozen. Any ideas on what’s going wrong, or is this normal because of the amount of sugar?

    I love your idea of using a jar for the iced coffee. This way you can make a bigger portion even for guests and the result is eye catching! I would like to translate the recipe to Hungarian and use for a coffee recipe post in my blog with links to the original of course. I will write about the beginning of spring and ice coffee variations. Also, you made amazing photos. Can I include them to the post with referring to you each time? I already heard about this ice coffee tip but until your article I was not enough motivated to try it.
