Monster Chocolate Fudge Bars

You need to try these SECRETLY HEALTHY monster chocolate fudge bars…

Secretly Healthy Chocolate Monster Fudge Bars

Seriously, you won’t regret it.

Each bar is under 100 calories… with 3 grams of fiber and 5 grams of protein!

They can be whipped up in minutes, and they’re the perfect option when you’re craving chocolate but want to be healthy at the same time.

The best part is that you only need 5 ingredients!

5 Ingredient Chocolate Monster Bars

Imagine if your favorite granola bar came in a chocolate fudge flavor…

Make up a batch and freeze leftovers for a rainy day, so you can always have a healthy treat on hand.

Any time you’re craving chocolate, just pop one out of the freezer!

Healthy Chocolate Sea Salt Super Squares

You can use any granola in the recipe – I chose to use the popular Eaton Hemp Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Super Squares that have been taking over the food world in recent weeks, because I was finally able to get my hands on some!

(It’s currently back in stock—with free shipping for the next 48 hours only—so I’d highly recommend buying as soon as possible if you want to try it, before it goes out of stock again.)

And now that I’ve finally found it, I can totally see what all the hype has been about.

Unlike many other granolas, this one isn’t packed with a ton of sugar, so it’s a great choice for adding to already-sweet foods such as oatmeal, yogurt, chocolate pudding, or Avocado Chocolate Mousse, or for sprinkling over cereal with sliced banana and blueberries.

You get 8 grams of protein per serving, with Omega 3s, all 9 amino acids, and it’s 100% organic, certified gluten free, and vegan.

The super squares also come in two other flavors, Coconut Mango or Apple Cinnamon… Crazy as it sounds, I might even like the apple cinnamon flavor even more than the chocolate. That’s how good it is.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mashed banana or sweet potato
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup almond butter, or allergy friendly sub
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup, honey, or agave
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 cup crushed granola - I highly recommend the popular Eaton Hemp Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Super Squares
  • optional 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

If almond butter is not soft, gently heat until stir-able. Line an 8×8 pan with wax or parchment paper. Crush the granola before measuring 1 cup. Mix the crushed granola with 1/4 cup of the almond butter, 1 tbsp of the maple syrup, and the optional mini chips. Spread into the pan. Press down firmly using a second sheet of parchment. Combine all remaining ingredients until smooth–it’s easiest in a food processor but can also be done by hand. Spread over the crust. Freeze to set. Cut into bars or squares. Store leftover bars in the freezer.

These look so amazing! Do you know if they sell the granola brand in Whole Foods? I’d love to try it but I don’t really like buying online.
    Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Hi. Please consider putting grams when you add stuff like 1 cup, 1/2 cup. So on so forth. your older recipes all use to have them and these ones do not and the cup standard is just to vague when it comes to baking. Or if you could provide a link here to any recipe where the grams are given, just as key. Would appreciate it

Hi! Most ingredients should give a reference on the package. Just look at the top of the nutrition facts. For these, 1 cup mashed banana or sweet potato is about 240g, 1/4 cup cocoa is 20g, 1/2 cup nut butter is 120g, 3 tbsp syrup is 45g, and it’s a full large package of crushed granola if using the one Katie used. If you ever need to know gram measurements of something that isn’t easily looked up, just message here and we can probably provide that info!

Is there a way to buy just one package? I’d like to try them, but I don’t want to buy three if I don’t even know if I like the product yet.

      • Holly says

I was able to find one of the flavors in a single package for sale on amazon, but sadly not the chocolate flavor. I’ll try the recipe with a different chocolate granola and hopefully they’ll be just as delicious. The photos are superb!

I was coming on here to ask the same question. Do you think if I bought the Cashew Coconut Mango on amazon and used that flavor instead, would it still be good in this recipe, or does it need to be chocolate?

  4. Dee says

Oh my they look SO GOOD! I just started the Whole Foods Plant Based diet and am excited to see this because it fits the requirements (no oil, no refined sugar, no dairy. etc.) I will definitely be trying this one. Please post more WFPB recipes!

I must be living under a rock lol because I’ve never heard of that brand and I live in NYC! I’ll have to pick some up the next time I go to Fairway.
On an unrelated subject, I made your black bean brownies for the first time last night and they exceeded all expectations! I gave one to my boyfriend and he kept saying “These are vegan?!?” ?

I don’t mind if you plug products if you genuinely think they’re awesome, but could you please be up front about having affiliate sponsors in your post? When you click on that link, the URL reveals that it is indeed an affiliate ad.

    • Jason Sanford says

Nope, not an affiliate ad :).
The company asked if we could use the tracking code so they can see how many people visit their site from Katie’s, but Katie makes no money from sales of the product and we also aren’t able to see how many people click over on our end.

These look amazing! I think they may be my new favourite dessert (based on the ingredients and the pictures, and how simple they are!). can’t wait to make them this week! 🙂 who doesn’t like the chocolate, banana and nut butter combo?! 🙂 i’m thinking my hubby will even like these, even though he doesn’t like oatmeal/oats…

    Katie,
I love your recipes. Do you have a healthy pecan praline recipe. I would like to healthify my praline recipe for the holidays.
    Thanks,
    Debbie

  10. Liz says

    Heya Katie,
I’m not sure if I am the only person having this problem, but when I try to purchase the granola squares through their website it does not, contrary to your post, give me free shipping. I tried last night and then again this morning, on two different computers. Any ideas?

    • Vegan J says

No it’s not just you. The same thing happened to me just now. Disappointed because I really wanted to make the recipe.

      • Jason Sanford says

Hi! That’s so strange it seems to be happening for some people. If you clear your browser cache, does it work? It looks like they do still offer free shipping on their site, so I’d reach out to their company if it still doesn’t work for you after that!
        Jason

  11. Matt says

I finally got all the ingredients and will be trying them today. I am sure they’ll be just as good as the other recipes I’ve tried from your site 🙂

  12. Irene Binyon says

I bought the granola to make the bars. IT WAS AWFUL!!! It tastes like soap. I may make the bars but not with that granola.

  13. Caitlin says

I made these and they were really tasty but I didn’t like the frozen aspect (and my husband found it hard to eat from frozen/chilled because the granola on the top was so hard!). So i made them again and basically made them into a brownie. I put all the ingredients IN the batter (i ground up 1/2 cup of the granola into a flour and added that to the bananas, almond butter, cocoa power and maple syrup), then i put the 2nd 1/2 cup of granola on top (and chocolate chips as per original recipe), and then baked it at 350 for 15-20 mins…turned out really good! 🙂

  14. Melanie says

I made these with chocolate almond butter and chocolate peppermint granola for a holiday twist and they were fantastic!

  15. Patricia says

As others mentioned, I didn’t want to buy three packs of the suggested granola without knowing what it tasted like beforehand, so I made these with bear naked granola and they turned out great!

I will keep an eye out for the granola brand you mentioned for a future trial because I will 100% be making these again, just probably in the summer since they remind me of ice cream bars, not ideal for the current weather here?

  16. Lauren says

    Hi Katie,
I realize this may be a dumb question, but have you considered a sweet potato chocolate pudding or mouse? The sweet potato base of this recipe seems like it could maybe be a pudding or mouse if it were left in a bowl. Before I try it, I wondered what your thoughts may be or if there is a similar recipe on your blog for a sweet potato pudding or mouse that I haven’t yet discovered? Thank you!
    Lauren
