I’ve been a fan for a couple years now and have made lots and lots of your recipes, without fail they are all delicious!     Do you have desserts for diabetics. My mother-in-law has diabetes and love dessert but can’t really find a lot of options. I’d also like to be able to surprise her.

      I do know many diabetics write in and say they’ve made the recipes successfully! 🙂 Not being a nutritionist or doctor, I can’t ethically claim any recipe is “suitable for diabetics” but many of the recipes in the cookbook can definitely be made without sugar (or with a xylitol option, which I know some of my diabetic readers use as an approved sugar substitute). Perhaps wait until the book comes out at Barnes’n Nobles (January 6th) and look through it to decide if it will work for her specific needs.

    Hi, I have been modifying and using your recipes for years. I have a gluten sensitivity yet am extremely health conscious so most of your recipes were quite easy to modify if not already GF.

    I ordered your book and am quite frankly a bit disappointed in it. On all of them that have a GF option you suggest Bobs GF Multi Purpose flour. There are issues with this in that it does not work with all your recipes mentioned. Few of them you have to up the amount significantly. Others they simply work best with just oat flour or some other flour combination. Also noted a neglect of mentioning a binder in them, such as gar guar gum or xantham gum (these are best used in certain amounts for different goods for various textures and even at times should just be admitted). I really wish you had consulted someone that does GF baking for a living on these adjustments before publishing.

    It is also missing weight measurements for ingredients. This is definitely a must! Depending on grind, local climate conditions, etc. the volume measurements of flours varies greatly. Then you have the individual who might pack or scoop out or the pour method for measuring them out. I spent months going through and measuring out the flours for for my baked good lines after ending up with inconsistencies in batches.

    Other thoughts is although it has a beautiful layout I think your should have left room for people to add modifications to the recipes if needed for various health reasons. There should always be a Notes/modification box in any good recipe book for each one (even a 2×1 would be decent).

    I do really like the book, just feel I should have gotten a digital copy and opened it in publisher then kept it on a tablet in the kitchen. Oh will there be a revised edition of the book at a later time?

      Please rest assured that ALL of the recipes in the cookbook have been tested with the gluten-free flour blend listed. And if xanthan gum is not called for in a particular recipe, then this means the recipe works even without it. I’ve found that, depending on the recipe and what other binders are present, xanthan gum is not always needed.

      As for gram measurements, I was actually a proponent of including them. This was ultimately a decision made by the publisher to leave them out.

    Been waiting for this cookbook to arrive and it did not disappoint!!!!!!!! I know in the back of the book there is a conversion chart converting cups to grams. How come on your site you list the gram measurements right in the recipe and the cookbook does not?
    Also the dry powered NuNaturals sweetener that my healthfood store carries does in fact have maltodextrin in it. Does NuNaturals have other varieties without it?
    Congrats on the book, I have given a copy to both my daughter and daughter-in-law.

So many great new recipes, and happy to see one of my old favorites (cookie dough dip). Now I can find it so much quicker!       I own a copy of the book, and about 90% of the recipes are gluten free or have an option to be gluten free. Just be sure to buy certified gluten free oats if a recipe (like the cookie pie) calls for oats.

    Looks yummy! I received your book in the mail yesterday and had a read through. It is fantastic! I just had a question in regards to the nutritional calculations. At the start of the book it states that the nutritional information is calculated for the smallest serving size. Does that mean for example if the recipe serves 2-4 people that you mean the smallest numerical serving size which would be 2 OR the serving size which is the smallest volume which would be 4?
    I hope my question makes sense. I look forward to the clarification.

    Good news: NONE of the recipes call for chickpea flour at all in the book, so there is no need to substitute. And only two out of all the recipes call for chickpeas and you could definitely try lentils instead. Most of the recipes in the book are completely chickpea free 🙂

      Hi, sorry for the delayed reply! There are no artificial sweeteners in the book at all (nor on the blog. I am against artificial sweeteners). But any time stevia is listed in the book, there is always a substitution, just like on the blog 🙂

      Hi! Total fat is all fat together–saturated and unsaturated. The recipes in the book also only list total fat (my second book will list both!). If it helps, all of the recipes are cholesterol-free, though, as long as nondairy milks and yogurts are used for those recipes that call for milk of choice. 🙂

    Dear Katie My Mother was a professional cook runing a european country club kitchen and I am a gourmet cook But I am learning things from you I wil healthil;y pass opn to my grandchildren. Thank you Katie from the bottom of my heart and the top of my health that I am concerned about as I am a retired nurse I now reduce ALL of my recipes sugar content by 30 to 40 %. Only after 1950 did sugar content start going up due to lobbying of the sugar industry . Thank you Katie, Carol Huggins
