Want to be featured?

I want to feature you!

Every time someone blogs about one of my recipes, it puts a huge smile on my face. This past week, especially, I can’t tell you how much I’ve needed that smile.

I really want to give some of this happiness back. But because my blog is a recipe blog, not a “what I ate” blog, I rarely write about others’ recipes. I’m too busy writing about yummy things like…

cookie-dough-pop

Cookie Ball Pops

Or about equally yummy, albeit a little more strange, creations such as…

mint ice cream

Spinach Ice Cream

(Hey, it’s an arduous task, convincing people that spinach ice cream tastes good.)

A few weeks ago, when we did the online bake sale for Japan, I had a lot of fun featuring your brilliant creations., and ever since that experience, I’ve been trying to figure out a good way to feature y’all again on the blog. Finally it hit me: desserts! There’s a popular misconception that vegan foods—especially desserts—are bland and boring. Some people are even surprised when I assure them that, as a vegan, I can still eat chocolate! Therefore, I thought it’d be fun to do a series highlighting your favorite vegan desserts. Oh yes, it’s time to…

Hug a Vegan Dessert

To be featured:

Just write a blog post about a favorite vegan treat. It can be your own recipe, one of my dessert recipes, a cookbook recipe, or even a packaged product. Include, in your post, a photo of the food (or a photo of you hugging the food).  Throughout the summer, I’ll write a few feature posts, highlighting the photos of your desserts and linking to your blogs. (If you don’t have a blog, you can email a photo.)

True, my blog might not get as many visitors as foodgawker. But I can promise you’ll get at least some new visitors if you’re featured here. Plus, I won’t reject any photos. 😉

Side note: sweet breakfasts or drinks are totally ok, too!

Oh hooray! I loved when you did Hug a Fat and Hug a Fruit. I never got to participate in the Hug a Vegan series…but this is perhaps a great alternative. [And I HAVE been promising my “sometimes vegan” roommate to make a treat for her before she leaves for the summer…]

  2. Alisa Fleming says

Aw, I read the sad news. I hope you are doing better as the week progresses.

Those all look yummy! I’m boring, nut butter, cinnamon, and toast is my latest breakfast love.

  3. Jenny says

I love oatmeal and vegan overnight oats… but I have to say, I think my absolute favourite vegan breakfast is a smoothie in a bowl! Good ol’ SIABs. 😀 I like ’em BRIGHT green – so either spinach, parsley, kale, or mint is involved. And breakfast is like dessert to me, so you could also say it’s my favourite vegan dessert, maybe…? Reminds me that I have to try your spinach ice cream, ASAP. Spinach = <3

Hope you have an AWESOME week. If I had a blog, I'd blog the recipes of yours I've tried – and hopefully send more smiles your way. D: Oh well – I know there are other great bloggers that will help out with that!

    Take care~!

My fav breakfast is oatmeal using your voluminous oatmeal trick. I just get everything ready the night before and its so easy. I top it with dates and bananas. My treat for weekends are crepes. I have a recipe for gluten-free pancakes that use quinoa flour, buckwheat flour, and amaranth flour. So delicious.

  5. Ragnhild says

That is a GREAT idea Katie! I need to come up with my absolut favorit dessert for this one 🙂
Also, Could you please add me to you Blog roll?

  6. Bianca- Vegan Crunk says

Cookie dough pancakes with chocolate syrup?!! After seeing this, I may never use maple again…chocolate syrup sounds like such a better idea!

Fave vegan desserts: Any cupcake from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World … and vegan peanut butter milkshakes from our new vegan restaurant, Imagine Vegan Cafe.

  7. Lucy @ Porridge and Parsnips says

Love this idea, thanks Katie! 🙂

I’m just writing a post at the moment (featuring a yummy treat, inspired by one of your recipes, that I made and loved today!) but is it ok if it also includes details of other food within the post (eg other things I’ve eaten today), or does it just have to focus on the treat I’d like you to feature?

  8. Sarena (The Non Dairy Queen) says

This is a great thing to do! I love vegan breakfasts and desserts! By the way, I made a microwave cake that you inspired and blogged about it today. Ya gotta love the single serve treats! I hope you have a great day Katie!

  9. Vivianne says

Yum! Sounds like a great challenge. This might be my perfect chance to try a recipe of my own! 😮 Huzzah!

Congratz on guest posting (: I love your blog and I’m so happy I was able to come upon it (from one of your guest posts no less!)

  10. Kris (everyday oats) says

When it comes to breakfast, having something sweet is always the way to go, and any dessert with chocolate in it has my name written all over it! Which is why I adore your blog and am so glad I came across it a couple weeks ago!

  11. Melissa says

So sweet of you to spread your love around! I have been enjoying many of your recipes lately–you’re my new go-to site for when my evening sweet tooth kicks in! 🙂

  12. Jamie aka "Sometimes Healthy" Girl says

Love this idea and I loved all of your guest blogs too! I love how you want to help people get more viewers. Very sweet 🙂 I have yet to make one of your recipes OR anything vegan for that matter. So perhaps my post can be about my first venture into vegan territory. I would obviously use your recipe for my first go at it! 🙂

  13. Holly @ The Runny Egg says

    Great idea Katie!

I love vegan breakfasts — smoothies, oatmeal, PBJ on toast 🙂 Nothing too crazy, but they all taste delicious!

  14. Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) says

    Great idea, Katie!

I have a zillion vegan dessert recipes. Gosh, where do I begin. That’s like picking what child is your favorite..you just CANT pick. lol No bake, warm and gooey, frozen, smooth, chewy, crunchy, so many textures and flavors, so little time.. 🙂

I will be sure to write about something and link back to this post. Maybe more than once 🙂

Congrats on your guesties last week. I saw them all when they were live on all those blogs. CONGRATS! And on your FG successes lately, too!

  15. Chad @ thebreakupnote says

Um… I am probably going to buy an ice cream maker because of your spinach ice cream. Just sayin.

    • Chocolate-Covered Katie says

It does need to be a new post, but you can just put a little picture at the end of ANY post you write. In other words, the recipe can be an old one and the post doesn’t have to be about the recipe!

  16. Sara says

Hey Katie! I hope you are feeling better this week! I am way into implementing vegan recipes daily. My husband just rolls his eyes at me. I made my grandma your single lady carrot cupcake for her bday, she loved it! I also plan on making some of your cookies and goodies for this weekend because I finally get to see my nieces and nephew! I would love to be featured on your blog!!

  17. Faith @ lovelyascharged says

Ooh, awesome! I’m just finishing up a post about vegan oatmeal raisin cookies, I’m super excited to participate!

  18. Emma (Sweet Tooth Runner) says

LOVE THIS IDEA almost as much as I love you, so that’s saying something 🙂 I love ALL your recipes so darn much though I won’t know what to hug!! What a shame I guess I’ll have to make them all *sigh* 😉

AAAH that blondie looks AMAZING!! Can’t wait for the recipe!! 😀

  19. Eleanor@eatinglikeahorse says

What a brilliant idea… I’ll have to start thinking, cooking and eating!
I made some vegan (and GF) carrot cake flapjacks (with coconut cream) at the weekend (link below) – they would have been right up your street 🙂
Favourite vegan breakfast at the moment is fresh strawberries and raspberries with plain soya yoghurt, followed by GF multiseed toast with coconut butter and strawberry jam; it’s amazing 🙂

  20. The Teenage Taste says

Thanks so much for this opportunity! I’d love to be featured. I can’t wait to get to work creating a delicious vegan recipe…hopefully filled with chocolate! 😛
Oh and by the way, your blog definitely doesn’t give off the “me! me! me” vibe. It’s awesome! 😀

  21. Debra says

Katie! i absolutely adore all your sinful yet healthy desserts! however, i was wondering if you could formulate a low-fat (of course vegan!) single lady sweet potato pie/souffle kind of thing, maybe in a ramekin?

  22. Tara says

Yay I’m so excited to hug my favorite vegan desserts, but I’m even more excited to see what everyone else shares!! Make sure you post lots of reminders because I will forget. I read your blog everyday though so if you keep reminding us I won’t!
I might just have to hug the blondies that you post tomorrow though 🙂

  23. kaila @ healthyhelper blog! says

Oh I can’t wait to do this! Now I just have to think up something delicious and vegan!!! 🙂

  24. Kristin @ FoodFash says

You know… I really struggled tonight with how difficult it is to find non-dairy desserts in restaurants. This is a perfect excuse to try one of your delish recipes so I can have something on hand when I’m having a massive craving!

  25. Matt @ FaveDiets says

I just made a vegan dessert recipe for this. I’ll be blogging about it on Friday. I don’t make enough desserts, let alone vegan desserts so this is a great way for me to try something new.

  26. Mary @ Bites and Bliss says

My mom made these quinoa flake PB cookies which could be vegan if the honey was substituted for agave…so they’re easily vegan and they’re delicious!! They taste JUST like the full-fat regular PB cookie but they’re actually really good for you. (They’re whole wheat and gluten-free, too)

    • Chocolate-Covered Katie says

Awwww!! And lol yes of course… not that I’d have control over that, but I could always personally deliver one. I adore Singapore, even though I was only there once. It was so warm… and clean of course ;).

  27. Lisa @ Healthful Sense says

Hey there! I hope it’s not too late to submit a recipe. I just posted a vegan, gluten-free chocolate cake recipe 🙂 I linked to this “want to be featured” post so I hope it works. Let me know. Thanks Katie! Keep up the amazing work you’re doing.

  28. Lauren says

Hello Katie! I hope you’re doing well 🙂
If you are still accepting guest posts I have a vegan spiced hot chocolate recipe that I would like to submit!

  29. Paige says

Hi Katie! Any chance you’re bringing this back soon? I have a delicious vegan recipe I think you’ll love.
