healthiest Ice Cream ever?

by Chocolate-Covered Katie on October 25, 2009

I told you that the boyfriend would be back soon ;)

Ice cream that packs not only fruit servings, but a vegetable serving as well?

The only way it could be better is if this ice cream tasted outta-this-world delicious.

Oh wait.  It does!

Awhile ago, I posted about Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Ice Cream.

Last week, I made this already-healthy ice cream even more nutritious by subbing in my new love—Amazing Grass Chocolate Superfood—for 1/2 of the cocoa powder.  Twice as nutritious, just as delicious :)

Plus, I got to use Mr. Vitamix, who’d been feeling underappreciated as of late.  (But as I mentioned in my Single Ladies’ post, Viti-Man will be seeing much more action in the coming weeks.)

Hey la, hey la, my boyfriend’s back…

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?  Growing up, mine was always Mint Chocolate Chip.  It wasn’t so much the taste I loved; it was the color!  (Although chocolate + mint is always a good combination, as the crack-in-a-wrapper bars prove ;) )

$$$-Saving Reminder:

Don’t forget that the Amazing Grass coupon code is still good (until the end of the year).  I’m partial to the Chocolate Super Food Powder, but the code is good for ALL Amazing Grass orders.  So stock up now :) .

My favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate with chocolate swirl, with chocolate chunk, with chocolate fudge, and chocolate chips, with hot fudge on top. And maybe some butterscotch. CHOCOLATE!

I love your breakfast ice cream! Now that is a good way to start the day!

I love mint chocolate chip ice cream! My other favorites are chocolate chip cookie dough and oreo ice cream!

Chocolate cheesecake

Or Triple Chocolate (but only the white chocolate and dark chocolate section, haha)

Or Brownie fudge

Or Cookie n’ Cream

Well, every ice cream, except it has to have at least 2 colours, otherwise it’s boring :p

I love that you loved Mint Chip due to the color — I have a thing for foods that are not the color they are “supposed” to be. (Golden Raspberries, Purple/Red/Yellow Carrots, Purple/Orange/Green Cauliflower, Pink Hot Cocoa [<-got this as a gift once!], all those gorgeous tie-dye heirloom tomatoes….I'm sure there are more) Maybe it is the painter in me that never shuts up, but off-colored foods are SO much more fun :-) Now if they're teeny tiny AND cool-colored, I'm in heaven!

Cinnamon ice cream or peppermint ice cream. MMMMMMM.

I do love the color of mint chocolate chip as well :) Then again, I haven’t met a green I didn’t like! My favorite flavor is probably pumpkin spice. You can’t go wrong with pumpkin!

OMG you are freakin psychic again. I have never had the Hershey’s Spesh Dark. Only regular. Well my new grocer carries the Dark and I bought some last week. Havent popped the lid, trying to use up the regular cuz I have a feeling when I do open the Dark, I will never turn back to the regular. Do you?

As for the Amazing trick using half n half of that and the Dark, does that impart any funky flavors? I have never had it. And if I were to say use Sun Warrior or Jay in Chocolate for half the cocoa powder in a recipe, i know I would be able to tell 100% about the swap. It would be fine, but just not “authentic”.

Your insight my love? I soooo appreciated your email as well my sweets :)

Mm, looks yummy–as always. :]

My favorite ice cream when I was younger was definitely pink bubblegum. Two treats in one! Haha.

I am intrigued by your super healthy ice cream. If I ever decide to try Amazing Grass I am going to try your ice cream. It sounds much more interesting than just making a smoothie with it!

My favorite ice cream has always been coffee or mocha. I haven’t had much of it since going vegan though :( I really like the cherry chip ice cream from Trader Joe’s too.

So genius to sub Amazing Grass in for cocoa powder! I just bought some chocolate Green Superfood and love it. I’ve even started giving samples to my friends, who now refer to it as “Amazing Weed.”

My favourite ice-cream flavour would have to be either rum and raisin or maple pecan. Just love those complex smoky yummy flavours!

the ice cream looks delicious. my favorite ice cream flavor growing up was ‘bananas on the rum’ from Ben and Jerry’s. the only vegan ice cream I’ve tried so far are Tofutti Cuties but they’re awesome!

I was a rocky road fan for a while, then I switched to chocolate chip cookie dough–let’s face it, I just liked having all the toppings IN the ice cream. Now I am more on a peppermint carob kick.

My fave ice cream flavor is choc banana and PB. I used to love the mint choc chip color too and always wanted that flavor. I still like it, but I am allergic to mint (yes, I’m a weird one) so I do not eat it. Once at a cold stone I ordered my fave ice cream (banana ice cream with PB and choc chip mixed in, banana) and my lips swelled up. Yeah, I learned to be m ore careful next time since the man 3 ahead of me ordered mint ice cream and then my ice cream was mixed on the same counter. Nice mint residue. And that is why I often ask for counters to be wiped down (that an if it was meaty). I hate cross contamination. But I love ice cream.

I’m a big sucker for ice creams that contain chocolate & peanut butter in them. Or maybe coconut ;)
