Oh fudge!
Melty Nutella Fudge Pops.
Yesterday, I took care of the Fairy Dust Sisters.
Now, whenever I watch the girls, they make me call them by their fairy princess names. And the first thing they always ask is, “What are we making today??”
Since it was so warm outside, and since little kids seem to adore Nutella (Wait, everyone adores Nutella, right?), I asked if they’d be interested in making Nutella fudgsicles. Obviously the girls fairy princesses welcomed this idea.
Nutella Fudge Pops
(Makes 6-7)
- 3 frozen bananas
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1/2c choc-hazelnut butter or Homemade Healthy Nutella
- 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- tiny pinch salt
Blend all ingredients until super-smooth. (We used a food processor, and we thawed the bananas a tiny bit so they’d blend.) Eat as ice cream, or scoop into popsicle molds (or paper cups) and freeze for fudgsicles.

Yep– Pinterest board here too. Addicting, but I love having all my recipes in one spot.
Emma the Hungry Hippie says
Uh oh.
This could be dangerous!
I am going to go back right now and pin ALL my favorite CCK recipes!!! 🙂
This way, until you get that cookbook of yours published, at least I’ll have my own little virtual CCK cookbook!
*Runs off to pin all the CCK recipes that are a staple in my house!* 🙂
Emma the Hungry Hippie says
I’m starting with this one: https://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2011/06/09/blueberry-pie-pancakes/
Sarah says
I love this idea, Emma.
Katie, I’m going to make a CCK board just for all your recipes :).
Lisa C says

The weather here has been climbing steadily- so these are perfect to compliment the lovely weather!
question: my sister can’t have any dairy or nut/wheat products. Is there some way i could leave out the nutella or do you have another flavor option in mind? thanks!

Katie listed substitution notes in her post.
Sarah the official CCK drooler-we pick Rick says

Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles says
No wonder those girls just love you— they are some lucky girlies! 🙂
Lisa Braodley says
I think I’m loving Pinterest now! I use One tsp. for cataloging my recipes but with Pinterest I can put them there and they won’t get lost! I was pinning a couple over the weekend and the name of the recipe wouldn’t show up…now it does!!
Karen says
I have had issues with pinterest pins not showing up in the past, too. I think it’s cuz it’s such a new media, and they probably had no idea it would be so popular so fast!
Samantha says
I look at Pinterest from time to time but don’t have my own board.
I am jealous your weather is getting warmer. Sigh.
Full-Flavored Life says
I am jealous of the weather too! Only two months and I’ll be back in Dallas, can’t wait!!
Annie @ Naturally Sweet Recipes says
What a genius idea!!! These look amazing! I love pinterest!
Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon says
Yum! Can’t wait for summer! Unfortunately it is back to being 30 degrees around here so these will have to wait :/
jenn a. says
any way you *might* be able to do a single pop conversion?
Chocolate-Covered Katie says
I’m sure you could, but I haven’t worked out any measurements. It’d be really good in a Magic Bullet!
Alex@Spoonful of Sugar Free says
I didn’t even know you had a pinterest!!!
And where are the sparkles for these pops?? 😛
Chocolate-Covered Katie says
Haha they definitely could use some rainbow sprinkles, huh? 🙂
Suzie says
I simply have fallen in love with bananas! They are so versitile and great natural sweetner, amazing! And yes I have a pinterest… and well it can be bad news as I spend some too many minutes, okay maybe hours– but nonetheless I have found some great ideas, recipes, etc. Its a great resource. Thanks for the delicious recipe, sure is perfect timing for this nice weather I am having 🙂
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
Um, this is GENIUS.
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
I haven’t had a fudgislce in years and this post has me craving them based on the pictures and oh boy, do I ever love Nutella! Perfect with bananas or just about anything 🙂
brookeO says
Just in time for summer. These will be great as the sun warms the desert to unbearable temps!
HollieisFueledByLOLZ says
I also get super sucked in to pinning things. Not so much recipes but the humor really gets to me most of the time ha. Anyways-it’s so cold up here in upstate-I cannot imagine anything frozen but in the summer these sound amazing!
Char @ www.charskitchen.ca says
Ohh nutella pops! Katie, you’re amazing. It’s still pretty chilly here some days, but as soon as it warms up, I’m definitely making these!
And yep, I have a Pinterest account! I only ever use it to “bookmark” recipes I come across, though. I’d rather waste my time doing other things than “planning” a future vacation, wedding, or looking at $1,000 outfits. Also, there are too many delicious foods “pinned” there, and I’m afraid I’ll never leave my kitchen if I really get sucked in 😉
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Mmm, yes please – I’ll take two! I’m a big fan of Pinterest.
Sara Dane says
These are perfect to bring to the pool for my friends…it’s already pool season here in Houston and I love sneaking in vegan treats at our crazy pool parties and BBQs!
Love your blog Katie and I will be adding tons of your pages once I get signed up on Pininterest.
Chocolate-Covered Katie says
Aww thank you, Sara!
We have to enjoy this nice weather while we can, right? All too soon it’s going to be gone… and we’ll be left with those lovely 100+ Texas summers…
Bianca- Vegan Crunk says
YES!!!!!!!! I LOVE Nutella! And I LOVE fudge pops!! Pinning these.
On Pinterest, I’m not sure how I lived before it. It’s where I store all my ideas and must-make recipes. Before, I printed everything out and my world was filled with clutter. Now, no more clutter!
Heather@Kids in the Sink says
I have found so many great things on pinterest! Right when I thought my bookmarks were getting uncontrollable, I found pinterest. These look so good by the way. I did not make enou Popsicles last summer and now that my son can appreciate them more, I’m trying to find some inspiration.
Justine Duppong @ Life With Cheeseburgers says
I am addicted to Pinterest! I seriously have to limit my time on there so I can get other things done…
My favorite board is my best fitness blog recipes: http://pinterest.com/justineduppong/best-fitness-blog-recipes/ but I also have one with some of my favorite wedding shots at http://pinterest.com/justineduppong/favorite-wedding-decor-pics/
Raquel @ Ovenmitts Vegan Blog says

Karen says
Mmm yes, I have a “dream food” board too, with all the decadent things, like double brownies stuffed with cookie dough and topped with hot fudge!
But Katie, sometimes some of your recipes are so decadent that even the healthy ones end up on my decadent board LOL! Like your brownie pancakes! Decadent and healthy. Best of both words!
Karen says
Whoops, worlds!
gayle says
Make your own nutella stuff! The brand name is FULL of sugar!
Amber K says

A way to enjoy Nutella in the summer on a stick….yum!!!
Katrina @ Warm Vanilla Sugar says
What a fabulous summer treat!
JennyBakes says
My most popular pin was one of your recipes, actually, for chocolate frosting shots. After a troll war debating whether cows milk was healthy and being accused of being on a soapbox for posting a vegan recipe, I had to delete that pin. I’m tempted to delete the entire account because there aren’t enough options for blocking troublemakers and spammers like there are in blogs. Fair warning, and I certainly hope you don’t find troublemakers the way I did. I definitely was just trying to share a recipe I loved!
Chocolate-Covered Katie says
LOL! Oh dear… I am so sorry you had to deal with that! Yeah, I get trolls too. Usually I just get the “I bought a gucci bag” trolls on Pinterest. Ugh.
But every now and then I get someone yelling at me for goodness knows what!
Melissa says
I can hardly wait to try these! My kids are pretty excited, too. I’ve been planning a trip to Whole Foods for a couple of weeks, now I have to go tomorrow and get hazelnuts to make my own nutella. Katie you are totally awesome!
I love the idea of pinning all your recipes, then I can go straight to them! Yea!!
Roni Yager says
I thought this would be an article you would appreciate Katie!! 🙂

Chocolate-Covered Katie says
Wow, I love it! The chocolate diet, huh? Yup, that pretty much describes my diet. People are always amazed that you can eat lots of chocolate and still be at a healthy weight. But it’s true! I think I’ve had it 3 times today… and that doesn’t count taste-testing blog recipes ;).
Lisa Marie says
I don’t think I’ve ever wanted anything as badly as I want one of these right now. YUM! And so few ingredients too! LOVE it!
Tash (Dairy Free Chick) says
These look delicious! I would put nutella swirls on them and refreeze for a chocolatey drizzle fudgesicle.
Katie @ Nutrition in a Peanut Shell says
They’re so cute! They look great 🙂
Question: Do you shoot on a wood board or on like a table top? I love the look of it!
Chocolate-Covered Katie says
It’s a funny story about my wood… I really should tell it someday. But yeah, it’s a board. Totally clean, though ;).
Sapphire says
This stuff was AWESOME and I don’t even like Nutella! 🙂
Sue N. says
These look so GOOD! I bought bananas today so I can make some tomorrow. PS did you see this:
http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/03/26/the-chocolate-diet/?ref=health. I thought of you.
Chocolate-Covered Katie says
Wow, so funny… you’re the second person to leave a link on this post about the topic! And the two articles are so similar as well. (This was the other link someone left above: http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2012/03/26/149407484/does-a-chocolate-habit-help-keep-you-lean)
I guess the media is finally figuring out what I knew all along… chocolate is awesome ;).
Caitlin says
We saw a recipe for peanut butter eggs (like Reeses but egg shaped… ). Since the holiday Reeses are always way better, I think the ratio in holiday shapes just works better than the cups… we made our own. They were pretty awesome. Since we had bought candy molds, and also live in Kentucky, we decided to make our own Bourbon Creams also…. anyone who has not had these, they are amazing! If you could figure out a way to healthify and veganize bourbon creams… man oh man! 🙂
Chocolate-Covered Katie says
I’ve never ad a bourbon crean egg! Now I’m curious… I’ll have to google it. As for the Reeses ones, I was actually thinking about doing them for an Easter post. We were on the same wavelength this week. 🙂
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
I sure do and these just went on them! 🙂 YUM!
AppleKim says
You mention your Magic Bullet a lot on this page. What other blenders do you have? I am researching the Magic Bullet, Ninja, Blendtec and Vitamix. Do you have more than one? Do you use them for different things?
I also have a pinterest account. That is how I found you!
Chocolate-Covered Katie says
I do. I have a Vita, a MB, and a Cuisinart food processor. I highly recommend the mb and fp… the vita is nice for ice creams and such, but it’s not a necessity.
Steph @ StephSnacks says
I do have several pinterest boards! I love them. Primarily I love them for new fitness routines but the Beauty/Hair section is inspiring as well as the recipes… I hardly have the time or even enough $$ to make everything I want, but I love the idea of a virtual mood board. It’s nice to go back and see what I Pinned.
Charis @ MannaTreats says
ohh those look good!
Lynette says
Yes, I DO have a Pinterest account. That’s how I found YOU!

Allie says
Nutella omg! By the way were those frozen bananas fresh or had they already blackened significantly?
Chocolate-Covered Katie says
They were already over-ripe when I froze them :).
Renee says
Thank you soooo much for the recipe! I’m a big fan of Nutella and fudgsicles so I think it’s a clever idea! :]
Kelly says
I really want to make these but I am not a fan of banana. Can I still make them without the banana? Or is there something else I can add to them instead of the banana.
Chocolate-Covered Katie says
See this link for substitution notes: https://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/nutella-fudge-pops-nutritional-information/
Strawberry Mama says
I just ate one. Mmmmmmmmm. I used coconut cream in place of banana. It had a distinct coconut flavor, but it was so super rich and creamy. Coconut milk would have been less overwhelming.
I have one kid who doesn’t like chocolate, nutella, or coconut (who is this kid?). I don’t think he will like these. But when I do this again, I think I might try it with almond milk and baby applesauce in place of the coconut milk.
Chocolate-Covered Katie says
Haha I always wonder that about my sister who hates bananas and isn’t the biggest chocolate fan. How are we related?? 😉
Anna says
Hi Katie,
I really enjoy your blog! Quick question – do you freeze the bananas in their shell or peeled?
Thanks!
Chocolate-Covered Katie says
Peeled 🙂
Sarah says
This is the first recipe of yours that I have made and it is AMAZING. You are going to get me into some trouble…
Margaret says
Why is there always bananas? They actually make me gag. Is there any good substitute?
Chocolate-Covered Katie says
See the “fudge pop nutrition facts” link in the post for substitutions :).
Melissa Sharp says
These look great and could do with one right now to cool me down!
Theresa says
Have died & gone to heaven. Tastes like a frosty married to a banana. Enjoying as I type.
Aurélie says
Well, I did this receipe with non-frozen bananas. Thankfully I had not enough moulds so I had to eat what was remaining ;-)) And it was so amazingly delicious !!!!! Incredible ! The next day I ate the pops and they were delicious. However I must say I prefered them non frozen ! I can not resist this tatste. It is simply just the right combination. Thank you !
Becky says
I just made these for my girls and I. I didn’t freeze them to pops, we just at it as ice cream. It was sooooo yummy! I used a blender and had to put a tiny bit of milk in it to help it blend. It’s so easy too. I need to make sure I have frozen bananas on hand at all times!
Connie says
I’ve just recently discovered Nutella (I know, I’m a late bloomer!). I love the idea of banana and Nutella on a stick – yum! But more importantly, I’ve missed fudge pops since I stopped eating processed foods so this will be fabulous – thank you so much!
angie says
Could one use Tofu insted of Bananas? Might have to try it. I have someone in the family who can’t eat Bababas

OMG Katie! I just found this link on VegNews and am dying to try your recipe out! I also want to make your homemade nutella recipe. I have loved the stuff since I was a little girl! Much like you, I had many friends who did not even know it existed. Having lived abroad in Venezuela for several years had its advantages when it came to coming in contact with foods from other places. I also do have a Pinterest account with 252 followers so far. I have a TON of boards if you ever want to check it out! My pinterest handle is venenadia29 and the magazine I co-own has one too! It’s my365mag, our handle is. Love this blog! Definitely adding it to my bookmarks bar! xoxo
Kerie says
Nutella pops?!!!! You have won me over! Nutella barely makes it in door before the jar is empty…ok, maybe I shouldn’t open the jar on the way home from the store. 🙂
Has anyone tried making these without the banana? We have banana allergy issues here.
Chocolate Covered Katie says
They’ll be less creamy, but you should be ok with just adding extra milk, chocolate-hazelnut butter, and extra sweetener to make up for the sweetness of the banana.
Mary says
nom nom. I made these and they were great. I just put this in old chobani cups and popped em in a freezer bag and ate it out of the cup with a spoon, no sticks needed.
Rachel L says
Hi Katie! I just made your fudgepops and they are absolutely to die for! Instead of using a paper cup though, I used my plastic ice-pop molds, and I was disappointed when they did not come out from the plastic covers in-tact—only the stick emerged. I froze them overnight, so I don’t think freezing time was the issue.
Do you have any suggestions on how to remove the fudge pops from ice-pop molds intact? I’ve made water-based ice pops before and didn’t have this problem, so it might just be that the solid banana/nut butter didn’t freeze as tightly as water does. Let me know if you have any suggestions!
Chocolate Covered Katie says
Run under lukewarm water for 20 seconds. It really helps! 🙂
Brenda says
i would love to try this but i am allergic to bananas so i guess this one is out for me 🙁
Karen says
I am breastfeeding and I’m on a dairy free diet. I just made these with Nutella and they are delicious! Next I am going to try the homemade nutella linked from the recipe. Yumm!
