Hi Katie! First of all, I wanted to say how much I LOVE your recipes! I probably make one of your recipes several times a week, and appreciate all of your hard work in developing the recipes and providing them for free. I don’t mean to sound like a buzzkill (Debbie Downer, Karen, etc.) here and hope that you’ll take this as constructive criticism. However, I thought that a post about recipes to make for 4th of July parties and gatherings sounds a bit tone-deaf right now. The same goes for the posts about Easter and Mother’s Day recipes this spring. The pndemic is still active. While some people are out and about, going to parties, many of us are still self-quarntined because we are high-rsk or to protect loved ones who are. My mom’s birthday is the 4th of July but I won’t get to see her this year because she and my father are both high rsk.

I realize that this post was a re-share from last year, but could you keep the COVD-19 situation in mind with future posts? If you’re looking for new ideas, single-serving recipes, recipes that make small batches (to feed 2-4 people), and recipes that use easy-to-find pantry ingredients would be appreciated right now.

Again, thank you for all you do. I look forward to trying more of your delicious recipes!

Hi! So Katie definitely kept this in mind for her holiday round-up posts this year, and no she doesn’t condone large gatherings with friends, nor has she been doing this herself. But we’ve gotten a lot of requests for holiday recipes from people who are celebrating the holidays with their family, quarantin pod, or with social distnt outdoor parties. As you noticed, yes these are for the most part re-posts from previous years (since her holiday recipe recommendations are still mostly the same each year), but they have been updated to take out certain language.

Katie has been not only wearing a msk but also doing more than her fair share to help those in need during this time. She just doesn’t publicize the charity work she does because she feels it would be tacky. But saying she is being tone deaf about the whole thing when you don’t know what she’s doing behind the scenes is far from the truth. We are doing our part over here and are thankful that people like you are also caring about others during this time.

Thanks for your reply! I didn’t mean to hurt or offend by using the phrase “tone deaf” (and apologies if I did). Not knowing all that was going on behind the scenes, the post struck me that way when I first saw it. I’m glad to hear that Katie and the rest of the CCK team are doing their part by not attending large parties with friends, etc. It warmed my heart to hear of the charity work she is doing too (and yes, I do agree that it would be tacky to publicize that on the blog).

Again, single-serving recipes, small-batch recipes, and recipes using pantry ingredients would be much-appreciated during this time. You could even do a “qurantine recipe round-up”! Another idea would be to do some healthy sandwich or salad recipes, since many people are at home during the week and not buying lunch at work or school.

I love Katie’s recipes. Keep up the good work!

that’s a great round-up!! winter on my side of the world so i’ll be cozy-ing up with sweet treats…
btw: just a silly mention – i counted this list 3 times (after the 1st e-mail went out saying “50 recipes”) and i counted 31 here 🙃

    • CCK Media Team says

Hi, sorry about that! We are in the process of switching email providers and that one wasn’t supposed to go out at all! (We also didn’t mean for the email to send out from both services, which is why everyone accidentally got it twice.)
