I’d been wanting to try out the idea for a while, and this past weekend offered the perfect excuse: a party on the other side of the city, so I needed a dessert I could easily transport that wouldn’t melt during the drive.
It was technically an Oscars party, but none of us were as interested in watching the awards as we were in having an excuse to throw a party and eat food.
Chocolate and peanut butter > Television awards shows
Making these chocolate peanut butter cups takes just a few steps:
Step One:
Carefully melt chocolate chips, and pour into the bottom of your ice cube trays.
Step Two:
Divide the nut butter evenly above each chocolate-filled ice cube tray.
Step Three:
Cover with the remaining chocolate, then freeze to set the chocolate.
Once set, these ice cube tray candies can be stored in either the fridge or freezer.
Or you can leave them out at room temperature for at least a few hours.

Genious idea! I have never think about it before. Luckily, I have some penut butter in the kitchen, so I will have some (but really a lot) these little treats soon.

Great idea with the chocolate covered peanut butter cups. Only question is, when I melted the chocolate chips they became to hard fast before I could even get it into the ice cubes tray. What suggestions would you make? I made them and waiting till i try some. Many yums!!

You can re-warm it by putting it in a cold oven and turning the oven on for just a minute or two. Or microwave a few seconds. 🙂

Can these be made without chocolate chips? Like could I do a mixture of cocoa powder, coconut oil, and maple syrup in place of them? If so, what measurements of those ingredients should I do? Thanks, Safina.

This is such a fun recipe! I just made this with my 2 year old. It was messy (everything is messy with a toddler-helper). But so worth the mess

Delicious and easy. Only problem is they are so good I want to eat them all. That’s a good problem to have!

Why in the world would you need maple syrup…pure sugar…in something already very sweet with the chocolate?
Troy S says
Agreed. I made some from a different recipe and in cup cake tin yet I think we can all agree the combo of peanut butter and chocolate is AMAZING!

What a great idea ! And we can make infinite variations… I just tried a fruit flavored version with almond and berries…
Coating : chocolate, a litte cocoonut oil and red raspberry organic aroma
Filling : almond butter, coconut oil + a frozen berrie
They are still in the frige and I’m eager to eat them ! I will try your recipe when I buy some peanut butter (husband just finished it yesterday !). Please excuse my poor english, I’m french 😉

I LOVE mint and chocolate together, so instead of the peanut butter filling, I mixed honey and a few drops of peppermint oil and layered it inside the chocolate. I’ve also made a coconut almond filling by mixing a few slivered almonds to my coconut butter in the processor.

I’ve recently had a huge craving for peanut butter and chocolate!! I blame Dunkin’ Donuts and their Reese’s peanut butter donut. Thank you for his easy recipe that I can have ready by tonight!

What did you grease the ice cube tray with?
Julie Dove says
You can use oil or oil spray.
