Cookie Dough Balls… for One!

Cause my cookie’s too chocolicious for ya babe.
Oops, wrong Beyonce song.

More single-lady cookin!

We’ve already done Cupcakes for One.

And we’ve done single-serving pancakes, pilafs, and cookies… but what about cookie dough balls?

cookie balls

Cookie Dough Balls for One?

That was a query left on my post for Frozen Hot Chocolate.

Sarah C wrote: Could you maybe do a single-lady version of chocolate chip cookie dough balls? I know you have a raw version, but if you could do a baked version, I would LOVE you forever!” Well, love me forever, Sarah, because here’s a recipe for cookie dough balls that yields only three balls—the perfect size for a single lady (or bachelor boy).

sharper

Single-Lady Cookie Dough Balls

Based off the recipe for Single-Lady Cookies

  • 5 level teaspoons flour (18g)
  • scant 1/16th tsp baking soda
  • 1/16th tsp salt (lessen or omit if using margarine)
  • 2 tsp oil or pre-melted margarine*
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • handful chocolate chips (or raisins, nuts, etc)
  • sweetener (My testers liked 1 and 1/2 tsp brown + 1/2 tsp white sugar. More brown sugar makes for a softer cookie.)
  • a little non-dairy milk, if extra liquid is needed (Don’t use water.)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine dry ingredients, then add wet and mix with a fork. It’ll seem a little dry at first, but just keep mixing. Form into three little balls (Do not smush.) Cook for 8-9 minutes. (Take out when still a bit undercooked, so they don’t get hard.)

*See link for more about a sugar-free or fat-free variation.

cookie ballies

Just enough for one.

Too bad for you, Sports Store Hottie. 😉

Seriously, though, why bother with boyfriends when you can hang around with chocolate chip cookies? If I could marry a cookie, I would. We’d have cute children, no? Hmmm… maybe there’s a reason one cannot marry chocolate. It’d give new meaning to the term man-eater!

If you could marry a food, what food would you choose?

(Weird question, I know.) I might marry a jar of coconut butter. (Is it legal to do so? Maybe in California?) Of course I would eat my husband… but not before we had many babies, so I could eat them too. And now I’ll stop, because I’m afraid I may have scared you all. Oops.

Yum! Love these cute little bites.

I’d have a hard time choosing – a sweet potato sounds good, but so does a jar of cashew butter, or the blueberry bush in my yard.

  2. Emily says

Awww! Single servings are so adorable!
If I could marry a food it would probably be a big, dense, fudgy vegan brownie. With lots of frosting and sprinkles, of course.

  3. kspar66 says

    Ah, stoked for these, Katie!
And I whipped up my first raw choc banana cheesecake this a.m. before I left for school! Used coconut oil, hope it will turn out great (know it will!)
    xoxo

  4. Emma (ecoprincess) says

These look really good!! Definitely one to try, I love how you list servings in jut enough for one person! Also, I just emailed you about adding something to the bake sale, and I’ve made a button for my blog too!

  5. Mali K (The Mali K Whey) says

Oh, and in response to your question, if it were possible to marry foodstuffs, I think I would be guilty of polygamy. My spouses of choice would be as follows:

    (In no particular order)
    1. Chocolate
    2. Bananas
    3. Avocado
    4. Coconut
    5. Pasta

We would have many delicious offspring…

  6. Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says

Can you believe I bought a jar of coconut butter over four months ago and have STILL not opened it??? Don’t hate me.

I’m not scared by you eating your spouse (and children)…it just sort of put me in mind of both praying mantises and the hamster I had as a small child that ate its babies. Which was gross….so maybe you’d be a hamster with a praying mantis head?

    Now I’ve scared myself.

  7. Sandi says

Oh Katie you don’t scare us! I love your kookiness 😀
I can think of so many answers to that one…but I might have to say Ghiradelli 86% dark chocolate because it’s the one thing in the world I don’t think I could possibly live without.
Coconut butter is heavenly though, especially on pancakes.

  8. Lot-O-Choc says

    Oh yum these look great..
oh dear..i think if i was to marry a food id be a food bigamist..so many i would want to marry…
chocolate, peanut butter, roasted parsnips/sweet potato/butternut squash, ripe melon, crunchy apples…
    too many!

  9. Brandi says

    Whooo! Another single serving recipe!

If I could marry a food it might have to be Almond butter with roasted golden flax seed and salt…or maybe chocolate cupcakes with raspberry frosting from a bakery near me…or roasted or sauteed brussel sprouts…or dark chocolate…okay i’ll stop while i’m at it before the list gets to long.

  10. Holly @ The Runny Egg says

    I’d marry a sweet potato I suppose — he’s sweet, humble (hello he’s a potato!), and hearty.

I love the cookie dough bites — where do I sign up to be one of your testers?

  11. Felicia ( a taste of health with balance) says

i love your single servings posts- you are too cute 🙂 question is hard to answer.. but i think my answer would be medjool dates ! and goat cheese. and almond butter. ohh and cashews, and salad beasts. see? too hard 🙂

  12. Alyson says

That’s like THE funniest concept I’ve heard in a long while! Hahahaha! Also, Oh my goodness, Katie… 😉

If I could marry a food… Hmmm… I would probably marry some peanut butter. Actually… Coconut Banana Butter… That’s it! Right there! 😉 Soooo good!

Cookie Crumble Cupcakes with Vegan Vanilla Buttercream Frosting and Carob Ganache are a closer runner-up. 😉 don’tcha love how specific I am?

  13. Faith @ lovelyascharged says

    Bahaha, you’re hilarious!

I think I’d probably marry my childhood sweetheart – macaroni & cheese!

  14. Mimi (Gingersnaps) says

    Those look amazing!

Is there any way you could come up with a peanut butter version, like Mama Pea’s awesome dough balls? Perhaps slightly healthified, like these are?

  15. Emma (Sweet Tooth Runner) says

Er, can I marry YOU?! Single-Lady Cookie Dough Balls?! I swear you’ve actually just READ MY MIND and seen my ultimate dream food. I love you!!! 😀

And you make me lol SO much!! Obviously, chocolate. I have in fact proposed to it many times. Still waiting for a reply though…

  16. Kelsey @ Unmitigated Grub says

ingenious! you never cease to amaze. 🙂 I would marry peanut butter. In fact, we already are 😉

  17. J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says

I love making single-servings of food! When I will inevitably want something different the next day, I don’t have tons of leftovers. 🙂

If I could marry one food, it would be bread. 😀

  18. Meg says

Mmmm I love single-girl recipes like this, cause when you have something THIS good, why share?! 😉 Haha!

Sike, I’d probably share this with extra special people ONLY 🙂

    Love you!

  19. Kristie says

You are such a kook. I’d totally eat my babies too (and the hubs!) if they were coconut butter. Or cookie dough balls! I think ultimately I’d probably just marry straight up cookie dough. Speaking of which, I could really go for some right about now. Definitely bookmarking THESE balls for a little fun later 😉

  20. Corey @ the runner's cookie says

I feel like any time I make cookies, I WANT a whole batch! Either to share or freeze. But if I ever find myself just wanting a few, I know where to go 🙂

  21. Mary @ Bites and Bliss says

Ball cookies are soooo much more fun than disc-shaped ones dont ya think? 😛

If I couls marry on food…it’d be cereal. I’m already having a love affair with it, might as well finish the deal.

  22. Sophia @ Raven Waves says

Cookie dough balls are seriously so delicious!! I haven’t had them in so long! If I could marry a food, it would have to be….cheese!

  23. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) says

Yummy perfection! you know I love my balls but do make them in batches. As long as I am going to dirty dishes, may have a few extra waiting around for me the next time I want some 🙂

  24. kaila @ healthy helper! says

these look scrumptious! i love all your single lady recipes…perfect for when you just want a treat but not a whole batch! if I could marry a food I think it would be an….APPLE! my favorite fruit ever!

  25. Tara says

Oh. My. Gosh. You’ve hit the jackpot. I’m so excited to make these! If I could marry a food, it would probably be bananas. But a perfectly ripe banana that’s good for soft serve or smothering in peanut butter.

  26. chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says

Okay your comment about eating your Husband and then your babies had me dying!! Those look amazing. If I had to marry one food, it would probably be hummus… or peanut butter…or gaaaaahhh! i can’t choose!

  27. Damjana says

If I married a food, I don’t think I’d be faithful to it 😉 I’d marry chocolate fudge bar, but I’d have tortilla chips, pretzels, chocolate wafers and yoghurt w. granola for occassional lovers 🙂

  28. Meghan @ StruggleMuffins says

So simple and quick – this is dangerous! Looks like it might be so easy that I couldn’t NOT make these all the time. If I could marry a food it’d definitely be peanut butter. All day. I know that’s not original but hey – you don’t pick the ones you love 🙂

  29. Mihika says

Ahhhh! I’d marry kabocha squash! I might occasionally cheat with coconut butter, peanut butter, dark chocolate and oatmeal. Oh, and hummus.
Katie, your single-serve recipes are amazing! You inspired me to start my own blog – I just published my first post today 🙂 I have a ton of ideas, mostly food-related 🙂

  30. melissa @ the delicate place says

this is so perfect! i bookmarked it to try with coconut flour and coconut-butter chocolate chunks

  31. Amber Schaefer says

You are amazing! This is my favorite recipe blog. I love your single servings! Keep them coming!

  32. Hannah says

I think these are so cute, but it seems like wasted energy to have the oven on just to make a small serving of cookies-I guess to be more eco friendly you could make a whole batch or cook a bunch of things at one time.

    • Chocolate-Covered Katie says

I definitely agree with you. When I make my single-lady creations, I always am prepared to make ALL the oven-baked goods at the same time. So I’ll make the cookies, then roast cauliflower and asparagus, and then make baked oatmeal all at the same time :).

  33. Elle says

These baked cookie balls are awesome. I made some for my husband this morning and he asked where the rest of the batch was ! hahaha

I had the same concern as Hannah, but of course you have addressed it the same way I will.

  34. Ann says

I made these last night – they were so good! I think next time I make them (ahem, tonight), I will try to exert a little self control and let them cool slightly before digging in. I may have used a few too many chocolate chips, too, because they sort of turned into cookie dough goo. Not that there’s anything bad about that, just messy!

  35. Karen Andrews says

OK! I FINALLY made these…and tried 3 flavors! In 3 different bowls, I used coconut flour, peanut flour/oats, and spelt/brown rice flour! To the coconut ones I added unsweetened coconut and to the other two I added chopped 85% dark chocolate and cacao nibs. The peanut butter got peanut oil and the other two got Smart Balance Light/Agave. YUM! BUT…after cooking 2 to try it that way, I decided to leave it as cookie dough balls! I love them raw, and also formed them and stored some in the freezer (due to my lack of self-control)! 🙂 Thanks for the wonderful recipe! (Oh yes…added 1 T chia seeds to each of the bowls as well)

  36. Leslie Henry says

I know I’m late to the party, er wedding? but this just cracked me up! I’d marry cookie dough!!! So I look forward to making these! (Now let’s see if they make it into the oven…)

  37. Jess says

Just made these, avec applesauce, cakey yet yummydelicious 🙂 Alsoo just lost my baked-goods-made-in-the-microwave-instead-of-baking-in-the-oven virginity, and you know what Katie it was guuuurd haha!

    Jess x

p.s. I’m going to NYC after exams (pfft exams) any recommendations from you or from your readers?

  38. Tanya says

Why bother baking them at all? You could just leave them like that… or dip them into molten chocolate and put them in the fridge. That sounds good to me…

  39. Barb says

    Hi Katie!
Just made these… Again! One of my favourite variations is to sub 1 tbsp cocoa powder (unsweetened) for 1 of the tbsp of flour… Tonight I also added extra vanilla essence and a bit of extra oil… So amazing. One of my favourite recipes!

  40. Natasha says

These are delicious. I’ll actually try a little less sugar next time. But I might just double the recipe because they are sooo delicious 🙂

  41. Kassie says

Thank you for this recipe! I’ve been looking for one for baked cookie balls for some time now. I’m wondering, if I needed to make 3 dozen do I just multiply everythng by 12 or are there some adjustments that need to be made when making that many?

  42. Morgan says

Hi Katie i have made this recipe to many times to count but i usually double and just eat it raw its soooooo delicious. But i am wondering how many calories/carbs are in this single recipe?

  43. Symone says

you are literally my favourite person, these were so tasty!! So happy I stumbled upon your blog, it’s living proof that vegan food does not have to be boring 😀

  44. Holly says

I’m going to make a batch of these right NOW. I think I’m going to have to bake my way through your entire blog! I didn’t read ALL of the comments….and I tried looking around the site/page but do you have the nutrition info on these and the funfetti balls? Yum yum going to get baking!!

  45. Sarah says

Not that I’ve validated this or anything, but this is super with pb instead of oil, rolled in one big ball and microwaved for about 40 seconds 😉

  46. Alice says

I think I’d marry strawberries. Or Raspberries. Or your healthy nutella if it’s made with almonds. Or bananas…. No, that’d be too creepy! Cottage cheese would be a good husband.
Can we reintroduce polygamy for marrying food?

  47. Angelica says

These were sooo good! I devoured them the minute they came out of the oven. If I’d have to marry a food it would probably be frozen yogurt 🙂

  48. Kyla says

Oh, these sure are yummy! I make them whenever there is not a desert in the house, and when I crave it. Except for one thing, I’m too lazy to preheat the oven, so I simply microwave them for 30 seconds on a plate. I also make them with applesauce and gluten free flour, it turns out great! Yum! If I could marry a food… well, I might actually marry these cookies right here! haha

  49. Fionna says

Marry a food? Oh, I’d SO marry cinnamon! I eat EVERYTHING with cinnamon! Pudding, rice, pancakes, oatmeal, apples, bananas, peanut butter, chocolate, apple sauce, cake…. I can’t imagine life without cinnamon, I think I might be slightly obsessed =D

  50. Jordan says

I love these so much!!! Really all the single serving desserts but I make these at least 3 times a week… whoops. I love your website!

  51. Colleen says

It’s never too late to leave a comment right? I made these last night (doubled recipe) and cooked with 2 of your single serve chocolate mug cake, just in case there wasn’t enough to satisfy my huge sweet tooth. I am new to making single serve recipes but it is time because my husband and I have been wolfing down huge amounts of healthier desserts, and blowing too much money on expensive coconut oil so these single serves are helping us stay in control. The two of us have eaten a 9 lb bucket of peanut butter in a month and a half so I need to cool it on the sweets. BUT we are still losing weight at the same time because we gave up meats and take out food, so give up those two things and it is a good start people.
