    Hey Katie!

I’m a HUGE fan of your blog. My only request is, is it possible to add a “search by ingredient” feature? That would be so helpful when trying to make something quickly, knowing what ingredients I already have on hand.

    Keep up the amazing work!

I second that idea, Zenobia! An ingredient search would be super helpful. Thanks for your awesome site, Katie! You are making my goal of healthier eating more fun than I thought possible!

I preferred it when the recipes were listed by name. It takes much longer to scroll through pages of photos, trying to find one that’s suitable.
The new website also seems slower than the old one so I’m not convinced yet that it’s an improvement! (I am do love your recipes though)

Hi Katie. I am a big fan of your website and I absolutely adore your guilt-free recipes. However, I dont know if you viewed your new layout on a mobile device because it is a lot harder to navigate through your site. Maybe its just me, I dont know. So if you have a chance please check your website out on a mobile device because I know that people (like me) search for recipes on the go.
ps i am dying to make your deep dish cookie pie today!

Hi Katie! The new layout is so cheerful! Quick question though: do you still have a way to browse your recipe according to dietary needs (gluten free, refined sugar free, etc.)? Thanks, keep up the great work as always!

This site is cute and cheery but definitely not as efficient as the last :o( The pictures are distorted and it was much better to pull up the entire list of recipes all on one page. Could you possibly at least add that back in?

    Hi Katie,

Count me in as another big fan. I see categories all of your various sweet recipes on this page, but I don’t see anything for your savory dishes. As much as I love your sweet recipes (I swear by Boatmeal), I also appreciate your savory ones. Please create an index page for them as well. Thanks so much.

BTW, when will the book be coming out. I want a copy. πŸ™‚

I do like your site although it looks a bit plain to me. I feel like it needs something to spice it up. It seems to be taking a bit longer to load too and some of the pictures look strange but other then that I like the change.

I am nostalgic for the old design but this new one looks easier to navigate and more professional. You’re growing up Katie! I also want to say that you’ve made such a difference in my life. 2 1/2 years ago I had to go on a gluten free, dairy free, no refined sugars diet for health reasons. I think I cried for about two hours when I got the news! I thought I would never be able to enjoy dessert again! But I do! Your wonderful desserts. I constantly recommend this blog to people who have been put on gluten or dairy free diets. I’m planning on occasionally posting recipes from here on my Sweet Heart Beauty Blog because the changes to my Blog cleared up persistant acne and dull looking skin that followed me into my early 30s! And I pin your recipes all the time. Know that you make a difference every day.
    Love and Hugs,

Love the new web site Katie! Always loved your recipes and am another fan of you doing a book. I do have one problem though, when I try to pin a recipe of yours (as I have so many times)I can’t get a picture to come up for the pin. Hoping it’s just a glitch as I hate not having a pic for my recipes. Good luck with your sight.

I absolutely love your recipes…you are so very talented. I’ve tried a good handful of chocolate-y ones and they always turn out great! The new site looks wonderful…you should have some GF DF companies knocking on your door to advertise on your blog!
I do miss the “list” of linked recipes that was easy to see a lot of recipes at once instead of having to go to each and every page. Maybe you still have them listed somewhere and I just haven’t found? Good luck to you and keep the recipes coming!

I’m so sorry that you couldn’t play nice in the sandbox with Pinterest. I found your site because someone pinned you on Pinterest. I started checking in on your site daily because of Pinterest. I got an email from them today and lost many many recipes I had pinned of yours because I pinned them via someone else. I have a daughter with allergies that I used those recipes for. To have to try to: 1. remember which recipes they are as well as 2. find them again on your site is miserable. I don’t think I will be following your site anymore. I would think that you would love to have your name and great abilities out there. Again, I can’t be the only person that got that email and lost a whole bunch of your recipes today. Thanks, but I’m going to find a new sandbox.

You have no idea how much your email hurt me. I did not send out the emails from Pinterest and have been so upset by them… I don’t know why they were sent out, and I’ve begged their help desk for help.

So to receive your comment just made me even more upset. Nothing makes me happier than when people re-pin my recipes, and I have been crying all day.

Hi CCK, my sister forwarded me a link to your blog and I’m hooked! I have a question for you that you may or may not be able to answer. I am 45 and my husband is 50, we both are constantly trying to lose weight (me, 10 lbs or so, always! and him, 30 or so). I try and cook really healthy (I have two teens and want them to eat right) but it’s so confusing with all the nutrition data out there. Don’t eat bread, don’t drink wine, don’t eat sugar! My gosh, what CAN I eat?!!! I’m just wondering if you lost weight when you became vegan? It seems to get harder to lose the older we get (you wouldn’t know anything about that yet! πŸ˜‰ ) I know my poor hubby is so aggrevated that he can’t lose weight. I just wonder if trying to go the vegan route would help. Keep up the great work! I have a stack of your recipes that I’m dying to try this weekend! ***** Cindy

I’m desperate ! I love mixing gas station cappuccinos with my coffee, usually 3-4 oz of each. I hate all the sugar and chemicals. I have tried making my own coffee creamer but haven’t stumbled onto a good recipe yet. I want natural, low-glycemic sugar options and gluten free. Do you have any suggestions or resources ? ? ? ? Thanks !

    • Rose says

I use the So Delicious brand coconut milk coffee creamer in the 32 oz tetra pak (the original flavor has little sugar). Where I shop, it’s near the powdered coffee creamers, but I’ve also seen it near coffee at different stores. There are also the refrigerated coffee creamers with almond or soy milk at most grocery stores now, though, I think those are higher in sugar. If you want to make your own, I bet a cashew milk or canned coconut milk coffee creamer would work well… add sweetener, extracts or spices to create different flavors.

These treats are healthier versions of regular baked goods, so as long as you’re replacing what you’d normally eat with these, not going overboard or still eating the other treats as well, you should be fine. Just listen to your body.

    Hi, Katie.

I love this recipe. It came out delicious and my kids loved it! I did not have any issue with dry dough, like others have had, maybe because I put in a little extra mashed banana and a generous measurement of coconut oil. I also substituted brown sugar for the dates, as I was out of them. My dough was more like cooked oatmeal, so I just scooped it into the mug, mixed in the cinnamon sugar combo and microwaved it. It came out perfect. I was wondering if you could scoop the dough onto a cookie sheet and bake it for slightly longer to make more servings. I would love to make more than one, and the other recipes you listed are a bit different than this one, so I was looking to keep the same simple ingredients and multiply the amount. Any idea if that would work or how long to bake it for? Would it come out well if it wasn’t in a mug? Thanks for any input.

Hi, Katie! I have a question: I write a humorous food column twice a month (Inside NOVA, very close to your new location in DC!) and I would love to use your recipe for Apple Enchiladas. How would I do this? Officially ask permission and show you the copy first? I would never use anything of yours without permission and if it’s not possible, no worries! I just think everyone should be making these? And the White Blondies, and the Cookie Dough Pancakes, and ….and…..and…. Thank you for responding! Thank you for everything!

You really know a lot about baking. I find your recipes have a lot of ingredients. Many of the ingredients have items that I usually don’t buy. The recipes are difficult to print as many other websites have a print choice next to the recipe. I had to hand print the One
minute chocolate cake recipe. That was time consuming. I didn’t find this very user friendly. Sorry for my complaints but that is what I experienced.

You really are greedy and entitled. This girl is putting out free recipes on get blog that you don’t have to even subscribe to have access to, and you have the nerve to say it’s not good enough for you? Maybe you should start a blog and do it better? Sorry for my complaint but this is what I experienced.

Also, you can easily print a recipe by highlighting just the recipe, pressing control c, and pasting it into a word document.

EVERYBODY loved it, and were amazed when I told them about the garbanzos…they all wanted “my” secret recipe- so of course I shared your site. I also made it for my son’s bake sale at school…and the person that bought it was an attendee/eater of the cookie pie at my son’s birthday party! The pie was cut into slices for sale, but this guy bought the whole darn thing. Hilarious.

I use your recipes often and I send friends to your site all the time! I am a marketers dream, a loudspeaker of sorts. I am sure that you have debated, contemplated, and looked into this…but I am still floored that you don’t have a mobile friendly website yet. I assume that you use google analytics (you should since it’s free!), and I would guess that you have a gigantic portion of visits from mobile devices. I am frustrated every time I look up a recipe and have to scroll to every corner of my phone to read it. When you came out with a new site (last year was it), I couldn’t believe that the upgrade wasn’t to a responsive theme (responsive themes let you build one site, one time and it will automatically resize beautifully to all screen sizes). My husband builds websites and knows how much I adore your site. He would be more than happy to help you at a highly discounted rate just to see you continue to grow like you have. He doesn’t need the business by any means, I am only offering to give you the opportunity if you have been considering it. Keep up the great work lady!

I just made your Flourless Banana Bread and it is delicious! I modified the recipe a little bit because I like low sodium and low sugar. So, I used 1/4 tsp of salt (instead of 3/4 tsp) and I used 1/4 cup of maple syrup (in stead of 1/2 cup). I used 1/3 c of flax milk for my milk of choice. It is wonderful. A great way to use up very ripe bananas. I’ll definitely be using this recipe again. Thanks Katie for all the good work you do.

  232. Comment says

Hello Katie! I really like the idea of healthy and desserts being together! However, most of your recipes contain some sort of sugar, and I read online that ultimately all these (agave, maple syrup, honey, xylitol etc) are still bad for health. If anything, they only offer small amount of health benefits with high amounts of sugar. I guess xylitol and stevia is still pkay but its health effects are still not finalised right? It will be great if there was a real sugar-free section because such recipes are just so hard to find >.<

    • Rose says

Her recipes tend to have a much lower added sugar content than typical recipes. But do you mean fruit sweetened recipes, like using dates or bananas? A lot of her raw recipes are date or banana sweetened:

      https://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/tag/raw/

As far as the discussion on “safe” sweeteners, that’s up to you to decide for yourself. I recommend looking into articles that reference actual medical studies. Be skeptical of any article that doesn’t mention any studies or is based off of information of one study alone. Also be very skeptical if a study was funded by the industry that has a financial stake in the product. A good place to start might be wikipedia…

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xylitol

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevia

Of course, you might want to look into it further from there, as well.

  233. Judy Brager says

I’m working my way through all the recipes in your wonderful cookbook and enjoying them all. I’ve hit a snag with only one: the “Flourless Chocolate Chip Cookies” on Page 30. I’ve made them twice and end up with yummy chocolate chip granola instead of cookies. I just can’t make the recipe hold any kind of form. My substitutions were coconut sugar for the first sugar and Stevia Sugar Leaf for the second. Almond milk was my “milk of choice”. Everything else is as written. Any suggestions?

    • Rose says

If this recipe is the same or similar to the one on the website, did you grind up the oats? Also, you may need to add more milk so that the dough is less dry than a typical cookie dough because gluten free flours, and more so, oats tend to soak up the liquid a lot more than gluten flours. And if it’s still crumbling, you could try adding a little ground up chia seed or flax seed (like about a tsp). Please let us know how it turns out. πŸ™‚

    • Unofficial CCK Helper says

Are you blending them enough? For these to work, you have to blend until the oats are a fine powder, so not big and chunky pieces at all. πŸ™‚

I love your recipes, but I’m not a fan of the of how the new website runs. To be honest, after many attempts, I am almost ready to give up on finding recipes here. I use a mobile device, Tablet, in my kitchen when cooking. It almost impossible to find anything because the site loads to slow. Just to much happening, loading at one time. PLEASE fix this…… I like the old layout better. User friendly, quick and effecient. I also agree, an ingredient search is needed.
Thanks for all the great recipes…..

    • Rose says

The site upgrade was supposed to make the site load faster and I haven’t had a problem with pages loading slowly. Perhaps you caught it in the middle of a change. As far as I know, she’s still working on fixing the glitches caused by adding a mobile friendly version of the site. In the meantime, you can either browse for the recipes using the recipes page (here), or you can do an internet search for “chocolate covered katie” and the name of the recipe you’re looking for and it should come up near the top of the search results.

Heyy. Attempting a recipe for the first time. Usually unsuccessful with bakes especially healthy low carb ones.

Just tried the pumpkin french toast bake and it was amazing! I found out I was allergic to eggs earlier this year, so breakfast went from being my favorite meal of the day to the most stressful. Thank you for an egg free french toast recipe! It’s perfect for a chilly October morning. I’m going to adapt it with cinnamon raisin bread and applesauce in place of the pumpkin soon.

Katie, You have saved me! I had a gastric bypass in January. I have not been able to eat any meat, sugar, high carbs or anything like that in months. I found your web-site when a friend posted your banana bread. I have made over 30 recipes since then. I can’t tell you how much this site has helped me. Eating again and enjoying the taste of food has been difficult for some time. I substitute all the sugar in the recipes and my daughter is a celiac so I make everything of yours Gluten Free. Even my husband who is extrememly picky enjoys everything. I am so thankful for this website and the change it has helped bring about in my life. As someone who was 250 pounds and now is 148 pounds I needed the extra push to find the right food for myself and my family. I am forever grateful. Thanks so much,

    Jessica Kline

    I think you are incredible.
    I love your recipes.
Your site popups every 10 seconds however are extremely annoying and frustrating. I can’t get through the ingredients or the dirrections without then in my face. I understand about sponsorship and that you want people to buy the cookbook instead of free.
The site is how people find out about you and it they get too irritated they will look elsewhere. I live your recipes and you. Hugz

    • Chocolate Covered Katie says

Hi! I sent you a reply in an email, but to summarize: the ads should NOT be popping up EVER. I’ve talked with my ad rep about this and she’s assured me the glitch is fixed… Please let me know if you ever see it happen again!

  245. Cindy M says

The pop ups are interesting. I can’t read through the ingredients, or directions without them. Love you, love the recipes. Hugz

I want to say that I really like your website and recently have purchased your book. I have tried multiple recipes and my favorites are cauliflower brownies and recently oatmeal almond butter brownies. They are deliciously healthy. Could I suggest you try making healthy delicious desserts with okara (leftover pulp from milking soy beans)? I tried multiple recipes in the internet and none of them turned out good. If you can make magic with cauliflower, I believe you can do okara too. Good day.

I’d love if you could do a post about meal ideas to take to work for gluten free vegans πŸ™‚ I don’t have access to a fridge at work and work 12 hour shifts, so it’d hard for me to come up with healthy portable meals that don’t need refrigeration!

  248. kim says

Hi, love your recipes and can’t wait to try them! I was drawn to your site searching for a macadamia cookie recipe and found the chocolate macadamia cookies but for some reason can’t get to the recipe? I can only get to the nutritional information. Can you share with me the link to the recipe please? I the mean time I’ve browsed some other yummy ones and liked you on facebook to keep in the loop! Thank you, Kim

I saw your website while I was on the internet and I was interested in the recipes I saw. So I went further and found some good ones I hope to try one or two of them soon. Keep up the good work you are doing.

I will love having access to your recipes. I am vegan; gluten free; and eat no “regular”sugar, so your recipes are wonderful for me. I have been gluten and sugar free since the 80’s so you can imagine what cooking was like back then. We became vegan 3 years ago and can’ t believe the difference. Thank you!!

  251. Harriet says

    Hi Katie,
I really like your recipes, and this blog has been the first blog that really got me interested in vegan and healthy baking. As much as I love your posts, I just have a suggestion for making them easier to cook from. The photos that you include are often all of the same view and stage of baking, and I was wondering if you could perhaps include any other photos from the baking stages. I just think that these photos are great to see how different stages should look like, so we can compare and make sure we’re doing it right!

Just a friendly suggestion, regards, H

    Dear Katie,
A few months ago, I downloaded your book. Since then I have found a true joy to be in the kitchen. Your recipes are so easy and fun! Your emails with new recipes are sensational — all of them! I made up a 3-hole binder to print and keep. I have just found out that I cannot go onto your site unless I have a minimum of 30 minutes to browse. Today, I was looking for your a recipe for hot chocolate using cacao. BTW you have a excellent, easy and fun website. You have taught me about raw cacao, organic coconut oil and so many delicious recipes using these two essential ingredients. I have found that store chocolate bars are no longer a temptation. My kitchen is now reorganized to cook and I truly enjoy the process (after more than 60 years of cooking). God love you Katie.

I am buying your book too!

  261. Colleen says

Thank you beautiful Katie for these recipes. I have a lot of free time on my hands so did look through all the comments and I love how nice you are, never condescending, your good heart shines bright! The only sweeteners my husband and I use now are lots of real maple syrup and occasionally coconut sugar and we both have lost a lot of bulk from switching from heavy traditional butter/egg-laden white and brown sugar infested desserts. I do worry a little as to why you suggest stevia in a lot of recipes, as it is a form of birth control. Luckily I never fell for that or agave or other health gimmicks promoted by purely evil people. In my younger days I was fooled and was at my highest weight ever. Now my arm veins aren’t bulging from high sodium and I don’t get monthly cold sores, diet makes a huge difference!

Katie, Love the black bean brownies. I made them for this Christmas, 2015. They are so delicious to me. Next time I plan to use less peppermint essential oil. I used 5, but need to use less or not use it at all. Plan to make again. Question: Maybe I over looked this on your recipe, but how do these need to be stored, in fridge or not? Thank you Katie for all the care and love health time you put into your recipes. Merry Christmas with love

This is pretty frustrating–otherwise, I love your website and recipes. Thanks!

Love trying out your recipes and love your cookbook. Now I need to invest in an affordable kitchen scale so that I can aim to get the results you do! Big Fat Healthy Corn Muffins just came out of the oven and look less than Big and Fat, but we’ll enjoy them with our chili anyhow.
Katie, I’m wondering if you have ever tried If You Care baking cups rather than than traditional muffin cup liners. I use nothing else since discovering them! Nothing sticks,

Thoughts on remaking a cloud bread recipe vegan and soy free? Need a alternative for cream cheese or creamcheese like spread. Also I have been experimenting with a flan like recipe using powdered xylitol, chia seed, and garbanzo bean water from the can and baking it. You run the xylitol and chia seed into a powder in the blender then add the garbanzo water and blend til fluffy pour and bake. Can not seem to get it down. Thoughts on these? Your insight is always grateful and inspirational.

Hi, I am a new Day Care owner. I have been changing the way the children eat but offering whole foods (I may need to say more fresh foods and not processed meats). I am a partner with the CACFP (NC State) which requires portion and quality standards of meals and snacks served. I am looking for some help integrating healthier meals and snacks but I must have the recipes quantity written out for the amount of children the recipe serves, plus the nutritional value. 1) How is this done? 2) Does a recipe change when (X by 25, 50, 75)? I currently have 88 children and 78 are table food served children. 3) And are your recipes, because I love each and everyone, be convertible to our gross need? 4) Would you be willing to provide me with a few meals and snacks already converted to get me started?
